/ Aug 19, 2025, 05:24PM IST
On the night of August 14–15, tensions flared in East Ilford Lane, London, when a group of young Indian Muslims carrying the Indian tricolor were surrounded by Pakistan supporters. A viral video captures heated arguments, provocative gestures, and flag-waving from both sides. Despite the confrontation, the Indian youths remained calm and left the scene without escalation. No arrests or official statements have been made so far, though the video has sparked widespread online debate. Similar clashes have occurred in the area before, especially around Independence Day and Pakistan Day, reflecting ongoing communal sensitivities among the large Indian and Pakistani populations living in East London.

Another truck driver, Sarbjeet Parmar, charged in US for 2024 road crash in Montana, he blamed wind for the accident
Sarbjeet Parmar at his arraignment Monday. (Photo: KTVQ) Amid row over Indian-origin truck driver Harjinder Singh who killed three in a road accident in Florida that was caused by his fault as he took a wrong U-turn, a 2024 case of another migrant driver came to the surface as the driver was charged with negligent homicide. According to documents filed in Yellowstone County District Court, Sarbjeet Parmar, 39 of Buckley, Washington, has also been charged with five counts of felony criminal endangerment. Reports did not specify Parmar's country of origin but his name suggests he too is possibly from India. Parmar did not plead guilty to the charges and judge David Carter ordered a $10,000 bond. As conditions of bail, the judge also asked Parmar to surrender his passport, local news reports said. Parmar was driving a commercial vehicle pulling a trailer on Dec. 22, 2024 when the vehicle went into the median at mile marker 431, rolled onto its side and entered the oncoming lane of traffic, KTVQ reported. The commercial vehicle then struck a Volkswagen passenger car and a Chevrolet Suburban. The driver of the Suburban, 56-year-old Kevin Wilkerson of Laurel, was killed. Three other occupants of the Suburban and two occupants of the Volkswagen were injured. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo The investigation of the crash by the Montana Highway Patrol found that Parmar had falsified the Electronic Logbook Device in his vehicle. The device, which records when a commercial driver is off duty, was "manually manipulated," prosecutors alleged, and the investigators determined Parmar "did not take the required 10 hours of Off Duty or Sleeper Berth as required" during the trip. Parmar initially told investigators that wind had caused the accident. The investigation determined there was no evidence to support that wind caused the crash, and instead the crash was "consistent with that of a drowsy driver."

Man who helped 80 Indians with fake passports, visas denied bail by Mumbai court
Mumbai: Observing that there is prima facie material showing direct involvement of the accused in the offence, a sessions court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of a man accused of being the mastermind behind an extensive human trafficking and document fabrication ring. The accused, Rajesh Panchal, is alleged to have supplied fraudulent passports and visas to approximately 80 Indian citizens, sending them to countries in Europe, America, and the Gulf. The judge stated that effective interrogation of the accused was "of tremendous advantage in disintering many pieces of useful information and also materials which would have been concealed." The case came to light on Feb 28, when officers from the Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Bureau of Immigration, arrested co-accused Roshan Dudwadkar at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Dudwadkar's arrest followed a tip-off that he was involved in human trafficking. During interrogation, Dudwadkar reportedly revealed he was Panchal's associate and that he was preparing the fabricated travel documents. The prosecution submitted that Panchal, the mastermind, was charging between Rs 30 lakh to 50 lakh per person. He also stated he is a law-abiding, tax-paying citizen who is ready to cooperate with the ongoing investigations. The prosecution and the investigating officer strongly opposed the bail plea. They told the court that the accused had not fully cooperated with investigators and that his custodial interrogation was essential to uncover further details of the criminal enterprise, especially regarding the fabricated govt documents. This is not the first time the accused has sought anticipatory bail. A previous application was denied on May 3, on the grounds that custodial interrogation was necessary. He visited the police station on May 31 and June 2, 2025, but investigators say he has not been cooperative. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
