AGCFF Gulf Club Champions League postponed to 30 September
The competition's new start date is 30 September, a shift from the previously scheduled date of 16 September. The decision was made after the competitions committee approved a request for the delay from the tournament's sponsoring company.
According to an official statement from the Arab Gulf Cup Football Association, the postponement was necessary due to the limited time remaining before the original date. The organising committee requires more time to finalise all technical and organisational preparations. This measure is intended to uphold the tournament's standing as one of the region's most prominent competitions, which garners significant fan engagement across Gulf countries.
The association emphasised its commitment to delivering an exceptional tournament this season by providing all the necessary elements for technical and organisational success. It noted that all working committees are continuing their preparations to ensure the event is executed in the best possible way.

Guardiola keen for Savinho stay amid further Man City departures
LONDON: Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola admitted that more players could leave his club before the end of the month, but says he hopes Brazilian winger Savinho isn't one of them. The summer has already seen Jack Grealish, Kevin de Bruyne and Kyle Walker leave the club, with winger James McAtee also linked with a departure, but speaking to the press on Friday lunchtime, Guardiola admitted they would not be the last. "We have a few [players who could leave] but I think it's the same for many clubs. We have a lot of players, there will be two out of the squad tomorrow and it'll be four or five when we get our injured players back. It's not the ideal situation," he said. "I don't know exactly how many will leave. There are still three weeks to go," Guardiola added, before admitting he didn't like leaving players out of his squad. However, he insisted that former Girona winger Savinho wasn't someone he wanted to lose, despite rumors of a big-money offer from Tottenham Hotspur. "Tottenham, or any other club [who] wants a player, should call the club. My only concern today is that Savinho will be with us for the rest of the season, and hopefully for many years because he's 21 years old," said Guardiola, who added that he expected the forward to continue improving. "With the potential that he has, he's played a lot of minutes, he has to improve his final decisions but he's an extraordinary player," added the Man City coach, who pointed out that if he didn't have faith in the Brazilian, "he wouldn't play more than 3,000 minutes [last season]."

Premier League: Late surge from Chiesa, Salah powers Liverpool to 4-2 win over Bournemouth in campaign opener
Liverpool: Late strikes from Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah helped Liverpool secure a thrilling 4-2 win over Bournemouth in their Premier League opener on Friday night, making a late comeback into the game after scores were levelled at 2-2 at one point. The contest was a highly emotional one for The Reds, who had lost their star player Diogo Jota in a car accident way back in July. He was honoured before, during and after the match, with several Liverpool stars soaking up all the emotion and chants by fans for Jota. On his Premier League debut, Hugo Ekitike was impressive, opening the goal tally for his side in the 37th minute to take the scoreline to 1-0 at half-time. Just four minutes after the whistle for the second half was sounded, Hugo was back in action, creating an opportunity for Cody Gakpo to deliver the second blow in the 49th minute. However, Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo, who had earlier reported facing racial abuse from the Liverpool's passionate home crowd, gave the defending champions a massive scare, scoring twice in 12 minutes, in the 64th and 76th minute respectively. He exposed the defensive weaknesses that cost the Community Shield to the Premier League champions. The incident caused a three-minute stoppage midway through first half and a fan was ejected from the stadium, creating that one sour moment in a night that otherwise a celebration of Jota's life and career. In the final minutes of the match, the pendulum moved back in Liverpool's favour as Chiesa left the bench to give his side the lead again in the 88th minute with a volley, and an emotional Salah capped a brilliant night off for Liverpool with a goal in the stoppage time, which extended his unbelievable record of scoring on opening weekend (10 goals) in the competition. Speaking after the match, Liverpool manager Arne Slot lauded Semenyo's "mental strength" and said that the matter of racial abuse is under police investigation. "It is under investigation with the police now. We have made a very clear statement. This day should be about Diogo and the tribute, but we have to address this, so I am glad I have been asked. It is unacceptable," said Slot as quoted by Sky Sports. "I spoke to him [Semenyo] after the game to say we will do everything to find this person, and wherever we can, we will try to help. Credit to him, he's very strong mentally, to get such a strong second-half performance after this shows the kind of player he is. Unacceptable in football in general, let alone at Anfield," he concluded.

UEFA Super Cup: Spurs fumble 2-0 lead as PSG capture title on penalties
Udine: Tottenham Hotspurs fumbled a 2-0 lead, losing out on penalties to the UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the UEFA Super Cup final at Italy. On Wednesday night, PSG made a stunning comeback during the final few minutes of the second half, securing the title win in European football's season starter. The Premier League side opened the tally in the 39th minute, a free kick was whipped into the box, and PSG debutant Lucas Chevalier did make a fine save from Joao Palhinha by tipping his attempt onto the crossbar. Still, Micky van de Ven scored on the rebound. After the half-time, another free kick sent by Pedro Porro found Cristian Romero unmarked at the back post and his header slipped through the fingers of the goalie, doubling the lead for Spurs. During the 65th minute, Bradley Barcola beat Guglielmo Vicario from close range, handing a lifeline to the French giants, but the goal was ruled out for offside. With just six minutes left on the clock, Tottenham started their downfall, as Kang-in Lee's fantastic edge-of-the-box strike opened the goal tally for PSG. During the injury time, PSG were exceptional, as Goncalo Ramos' superb header after an Ousmane Dembele cross took the game to penalties. During the shoot-out, Dominic Solanke and Rodrigo Bentancur scored, while Micky's spot kick was saved and Mathys Tel missed his. PSG won the shootout by 4-3, as Nuno Mendes converted the decisive spot kick. Following the game, Spurs coach Thomas Frank told TNT Sport, as quoted by Sky Sports, "In one game, I think we can show we can play against any team in the world. I'm not in doubt about that, and that is a positive to take away from this." "We had them exactly where we wanted them for 80-something minutes until they made it 2-1. Then it shifted the momentum, but I am so proud of the team, players, club and fans." "We showed we can be adaptable and pragmatic. We needed to be that against a team like PSG with the way we wanted to defend, with both high pressure and a low block. The first half was almost perfect, and the set-pieces were very dangerous. "I think we played a very good game against one of the best teams in the world, maybe the best," he concluded.
