As The 'Qatargate' Investigation Unfolds In Israel, Egyptian Journalists And MPs Accuse Qatar Of Conspiring Against Egypt
Details of the "Qatargate" investigation in Israel that have been exposed indicate that Qatar may have paid advisors to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to convey to journalists articles on the issue of the Israel-Hamas hostage deal presenting Qatar in a positive light, while at the same time spreading negative messages about Egypt and downplaying its role as an honest broker in the negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
Following the exposure of these details, Egyptian members of parliament and journalists attacked Qatar on X, accusing it of conspiring against Egypt, paying bribes to tarnish Egypt's reputation and to cast aspersions on its role as mediator. They said that Qatar is continuing to act against Egypt, both in secret and openly, as it has done in the past, and that unfortunately it seems that Egypt must protect itself from its Arab sisters.
One journalist even claimed that Qatar was continuing to provide aid and funds to the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) in Egypt with the aim of bringing Egypt to anarchy. At the same time, other journalists stressed that Egypt is a strong and great state that stands fast against the sponsored campaigns against it.
This report will present some of the enraged Egyptian journalists' and MPs' statements about Qatar:
Egyptian MP: Attempting To Harm Egypt Is "An Ideology For Some Senior Qatari Officials"
Egyptian MP and media personality Mostafa Bakry posted on his X account on April 3, 2025: "The Qatargate scandal proves that attempting to undermine and besmirch and damage Egypt's role constitutes an ideology for some senior Qatari officials... The Qatargate scandal has proven that there are those who continue to scheme, in secret and openly, against Egypt, its role, its security, and its stability. Egypt is great, its positions are honorable and it operates for the benefit of the Islamic nation, with no expectation of gratitude from anyone, so why do some of the people persist in conspiring [against it]!?" Former Egyptian MP: There Is Nothing Dirtier Than An Arab Country That Pays Money To Vilify Another Arab Country
In an April 2, 2025 post on his X account, former Egyptian MP Mohamed Abu Hamed wrote: "To tell the truth, I never say anything dirtier than an Arab country paying money in order to vilify the role played by another Arab country and create an imaginary role for itself. Unfortunately, I think that Egypt must beware of its brother Arabs more than its enemies..." [2]

Egyptian MP: Bribery And Television Channels Will Not Help Empower "The Dwarf" – i.e. Qatar
Mahmoud Badar, journalist and Egyptian MP, posted on his X account about "the dwarf," hinting at the tiny country of Qatar: "Oh dwarf, oh little one, bribery, TV channels, noise, commotion, and the loud voice will never increase your role or size. The great will remain great in accordance with the laws of history and geography... and the little dwarf will remain a little dwarf, regardless of how many TV channels it creates, how many people it buys, or how much it pays out in bribes." Journalist Affiliated With The Egyptian Government: The Traitors And Mercenaries Of The Muslim Brotherhood Accept Bribes To Harm Egypt; Neither Palestine Nor Jerusalem Interests Them
In a post on his X account with the hashtag #Qatargate, Ahmed Mousa, an Egyptian journalist and TV anchor who is considered to be close to the El-Sisi regime, wrote; "You should be aware and know why they attacked Egypt, its leadership, and its role as an respected mediator in the deal between Hamas and Israel... The traitors in the [Arab] homelands from among the Muslim Brotherhood, and their branches and the mouthpieces of their toilets and their sewers, have nothing to do besides attack Egypt and cast doubts on its role, its integrity, and its mediation [efforts] to end the [Israeli] aggression against Gaza. These mouthpieces operate like mercenaries who speak out [against Egypt] in exchange for money. Gaza, Palestine and Jerusalem do not interest them – only the forbidden money that they are stealing. The target is Egypt: they attacked it and downplayed the importance of its role [while at the same time] strengthening and inflating the role of Qatar in the deal to exchange prisoners for hostages. This scandal, which was exposed by Israel, is the talk of the day around the world... The whole story is campaigns for pay; agents who received payment in exchange for tarnishing the role of Egypt, which stood steadfast as granite in the face of all these sponsored campaigns against it." [4]
Egyptian Journalist: Qatar Has Not Stopped Funding The Muslim Brotherhood In Egypt In Order To Bring It To Anarchy
Maher Farghali, an Egyptian journalist and researcher who studies Islamic movements wrote: "How do you know that a writer belongs to the Muslim Brotherhood even if he isn't an [official] member of the organization? [You know this] if he completely ignores the discourse about the Qatargate affair, or what Al-Jazeera refers to as 'the issue of the Qatari funds' paid by Qatar to the advisers to [Israeli Prime Minister] Netanyahu with the aim of sullying the name of Egypt in its role to stop the war against Gaza. The issue is a very big scandal, but they [i.e. the Muslim Brotherhood] hear nothing and see nothing." [5]
In another post, he wrote: "The Qatari support for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is ongoing and has never stopped over the past years. The list is very long, and the budget [that Qatar allocates for this] totals hundreds of millions of dollars, which reached the pockets of the senior members of this [Qatari] network. [Yet] this has not realized even one of the main objectives, which is to bring Egypt to anarchy..."

AQAP Leader Sa'ad Al-Awlaki Calls For Assassinations, Jihad Attacks On U.S. Officials – Including Trump, Vance, Rubio, Hegseth And Their Families - Elon Musk And His Companies, U.S. Military, Microsof
On June 8, 2025, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) leader Sa'ad Bin Atef Al-Awlaki appeared in a video posted on in which he called for assassinations and attacks in the name of Jihad. He named President Trump, Vice President Vance, Secretary of State Rubio, Secretary of Defense Hegseth, Elon Musk, and their families as legitimate targets, along with anyone affiliated with the White House. Al-Awlaki stated that Jews in America should be targeted, and said that there are 16 million Muslims in Europe who must ensure that "not a single safe place" is left for Jews. Al-Awlaki urged Muslims to revive the "tradition of assassinations," describing it as the "greatest form of Jihad today." He said the targets should be the "leaders of apostasy," whom he labeled "Jewish Arabs," specifically naming the leaders of Egypt, Jordan, and the Gulf states. He appealed directly to military personnel in Arab countries, calling on them to take action. He said Arab pilots should strike "the Jews," U.S. military bases in the region, and American aircraft carriers. At the very least, he said, they should attack the palaces of Arab leaders, describing these as the "initial steps" that must be taken. Al-Awlaki claimed there are 4.5 million Muslims in the United States and said that they should carry out acts of retaliation without hesitation, stating: "Do not consult anyone about killing infidel Americans." Speaking over images of Manhattan skyscrapers, he said that the list of targets should be "effective," and declared: "There are no red lines." He called for attacks on U.S. government institutions such as the Senate, companies that support Israel or the U.S. military, including Microsoft and Elon Musk's businesses, and he urged hackers to strike both the American and Gulf economies. Al-Awlaki cited individuals who had carried out violence in the U.S., including Thomas Crooks, who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump in July 2024; Elias Rodriguez, who killed two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, D.C. in May 2025; and Aaron Bushnell, who self-immolated in protest of U.S. support for Israel. He said that these men were not braver than Muslims who believe in Allah. He encouraged followers to study Inspire magazine, shown on screen with images and bomb-making instructions, and he concluded: "Revenge! Revenge! Let each do so with what he does best and excels at." Sa'ad Al-Awlaki: "Anyone who can revive the tradition of assassinations and is near the leaders of apostasy – those who support the war in Gaza with money, aid, and logistics, the Jewish Arabs, like the leaders of Egypt, Jordan, and all the rulers of the Arabian Peninsula – should not hesitate even for a moment. By Allah, [assassinations] are the greatest form of Jihad today. [...] "Those in the armies [of the Arab leaders] who have faith in their hearts, and fear Allah's punishment for abandoning their brothers in Palestine should make a move and do something now in these despicable and collaborating armies that protect the Jews and the apostate [Arab] rulers. This is especially true for the pilots. They should strike the Jews, the American military bases in the region, and the American aircraft carriers that are looming in the sea here. At the very least, they should strike the palaces of the treacherous Arab rulers – a dog's tail is just as impure as its head. [...] "As a first practical, and immediate measure, I call upon every Muslim in the infidel, criminal, and arrogant United States – and it does not matter if they are of Arab, American, or other descent, what matters is that they should be Muslims whose Prophet is Muhammad, and there are 4.5 million Muslims in America alone... I am saying to all of them: Revenge! Revenge! Do not consult anyone about killing infidel Americans. You should have a lot of determination and the list of your targets should be effective. Go after the scum of the earth and its greatest criminals. This is Trump and his VP. This is Elon Musk, his advisor and his supporter in terms of finance, administration, and technology. These are his Secretary of State and his Secretary of Defense. Go after their families, and all those who have any ties or are close to the politicians of the White House. There are no red lines after all that has been happening to our people in Gaza – the genocidal war, and the systematic, and deliberate killing of women, children, and the elderly. Reciprocal response is lawful, especially because they are continuing to kill our women and children in Palestine, Syria, Somalia, and Yemen. When they cease doing that, we will cease as well. "Go after the Senate – the parliament of the real Zionists. It is the den of evil and lair of pus and filth. Go after the institutions that support the Jews and the American government, like Microsoft, and all the companies that support the American Army, Air Force, or Navy, and any company that manufactures ammunition or other things. Go after Elon Musk's companies. They are legitimate targets, and so are all the similar companies that participate in the war against Muslims. "I say to the Knights of Hacking, the so-called 'hackers' among the Muslims, and to all the free people on earth who reject killing and crimes: Go after the American economy, as well as the economies of the Gulf countries that support and finance the Jews and the Americans. Do not cease doing that. Do not despair. We all do what we can do best. [...] "My Muslim brothers in America: The infidel American sniper Thomas Crooks was not braver than you are, in terms of self-sacrifice and death when he wanted to kill the tyrannical Trump. The same is true for the Christian Elias Rodriguez who recently killed two staff members of the Zionists' embassy in Washington, as well as Bushnell, the American soldier who self-immolated in front of the Jewish embassy in America, protesting their killing of Muslims. What are you doing, compared to these sacrifices? [...] "I advise you to read the English-language Inspire magazine. It contains a lot of guidance that will benefit every free person who is zealous for their religion. Let me remind you that the number of Jews in America is not small – there are about six million Jews [in the U.S.], about the same number as in Palestine. Moreover, a third of those in the occupied Palestinian lands have American citizenship. Our brothers in Europe: You are approximately 16 million strong. Do not leave a single safe place for Jews, just as they have not left any homes, shelters, or respite for the Palestinians. Even hospitals are being bombed over the heads of the sick and wounded, and the heads of the women, children, and the elderly. Revenge! Revenge! Let each do so with what he does best and excels at."

IAEA director accuses Iran of breaching trust
Shafaq News/ On Monday, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, accused Iran of undermining cooperation by secretly obtaining and analyzing classified UN nuclear documents. Grossi confirmed that the incident dated back several years and was detailed in a confidential agency report circulated to member states on May 31. The report stated the IAEA had 'conclusive evidence' that Iranian authorities had actively collected and reviewed highly sensitive agency materials. Grossi emphasized, 'Such actions are clearly incompatible with the spirit of cooperation.' The IAEA is working to ease tensions amid concerns over a possible Israeli military strike on Iran's nuclear program, he said, highlighting that a thorough verification and monitoring process could provide the necessary reassurance to both Israel and the international community. Regarding Iran's current uranium stockpile, Grossi clarified that uranium enrichment is not in itself banned and acknowledged Iran's repeated assertion of this point. However, he cautioned that Iran's continued enrichment to near weapons-grade levels is unique globally and cannot be overlooked. Turning to Iran's nuclear trajectory, Grossi reiterated that the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was designed to regulate a very different version of Iran's nuclear program. 'Even if you wanted to revive it, it would not be enough because now they have new technologies,' he remarked. Asked about the potential impact of a resolution by the IAEA Board of Governors on Iran–US nuclear talks, Grossi stated there is 'no formal link' between the two tracks but acknowledged a 'mutual influence.' The resolution, backed by the US, UK, France, and Germany, censures Iran for non-compliance with its safeguards obligations.

Israel diverts Gaza-bound aid boat carrying Greta Thunberg
Jerusalem – Israeli forces intercepted a Gaza-bound aid boat on Monday, preventing the activists on board — including Swedish campaigner Greta Thunberg — from reaching the blockaded Palestinian territory. The Madleen set sail from Italy on June 1 to raise awareness of food shortages in Gaza, which the United Nations has called the 'hungriest place on Earth'. After 21 months of war, the UN warns the entire population is at risk of famine. At around 4:02 am (0102 GMT), Israeli forces 'forcibly intercepted' the vessel in international waters as it was approaching Gaza, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition said. 'If you see this video, we have been intercepted and kidnapped in international waters,' Thunberg said in a pre-recorded video shared by the coalition. Footage from the group shows the activists with their hands up as Israeli forces boarded the vessel, with one of them saying nobody was injured prior to the interception. Israel's foreign ministry wrote on social media, 'all the passengers of the 'selfie yacht' are safe and unharmed,' adding that it expected the activists to return to their home countries. Turkey condemned the interception of the Madleen as a 'heinous attack' in international waters. Iran also denounced it as 'a form of piracy', citing the same grounds. In May, another Freedom Flotilla ship, the Conscience, reported it was struck by drones in an attack the group blamed on Israel. In 2010, a commando raid on the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara, which was part of a similar attempt to breach Israel's naval blockade, left 10 civilians dead. On Sunday, Defence Minister Israel Katz said the blockade, in place since years before the Israel-Hamas war, was needed to prevent Palestinian militants from importing weapons. – 'Risked their lives' for food – The boat was intercepted about 185 kilometres (115 miles) west of the coast of Gaza, according to coordinates provided by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition. Israel is facing mounting international pressure to allow more aid into Gaza to alleviate widespread shortages of food and basic supplies. It recently allowed some humanitarian deliveries to resume after barring them for more than two months and began working with the newly formed, US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. But humanitarian agencies have criticised the GHF and the United Nations refuses to work with it, citing concerns over its practices and neutrality. Dozens of people have been killed near GHF distribution points since late May, according to Gaza's civil defence agency. It said Israeli attacks killed at least 10 people on Sunday, including five civilians hit by gunfire near an aid distribution centre. Civil defence spokesman Mahmud Bassal and witnesses said the civilians had been heading to a GHF-run site west of Rafah, in southern Gaza. Abdallah Nour al-Din, a witness, said 'the Israeli army opened fire' on people who had started gathering at the site in the early morning. The Israeli military said it fired on people who 'continued advancing in a way that endangered the soldiers' despite warnings. – Sinwar – The GHF said there had been no incidents 'at any of our three sites' on Sunday. Outside Nasser Hospital, where the emergency workers brought the casualties, AFPTV footage showed mourners crying over blood-stained body bags. 'I can't see you like this,' said Lin al-Daghma by her father's body. She spoke of the struggle to access food aid after the two-months Israeli blockade, despite the recent easing. At a charity kitchen in Gaza City, displaced Palestinian Umm Ghassan told AFP she had been unable to collect aid from a GHF site 'because there were so many people, and there was a lot of shooting. I was afraid to go in, but there were people who risked their lives for their children and families'. Also on Sunday, the Israeli military said it had located and identified the body of Mohammed Sinwar, presumed Hamas leader in Gaza, in an 'underground tunnel route beneath the European Hospital in Khan Yunis', in southern Gaza. The military, which until Sunday had not confirmed his death, said Israeli forces killed Sinwar on May 13. Sinwar was the younger brother of slain Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, accused by Israel of masterminding the 2023 attack that triggered the war. The Hamas attack resulted in the deaths of 1,218 people on the Israeli side, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally of official figures. The health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza says at least 54,880 people, the majority civilians, have been killed in the territory since the start of the war. The UN considers these figures reliable. After the deaths of several Hamas leaders, Mohammed Sinwar was thought to be at the heart of decisions on indirect negotiations with Israel. The military said that alongside Sinwar's body, forces had found 'additional intelligence' at the Khan Yunis site 'underneath the hospital, right under the emergency room'.
