Saints forward Wingfield set for ankle surgery
The 24-year-old was hurt during Friday evening's Super League win against Wakefield Trinity and will have surgery in the next few days.
Wingfield was helped off the field early in the second half having earlier replaced Curtis Sironen, who had failed a head injury assessment [HIA].
After 17 senior appearances for Saints this season, Wingfield could be out for between seven and nine weeks, leading into the end of the campaign.
St Helens are currently fourth in the Super League table with six regular-season games to go.

Sanders and the Browns were in Philadelphia for a pair of joint practices ahead of Saturday's preseason game. The Browns did not offer any additional information on Sanders' availability for the rest of the week. Sanders completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards with two first-half touchdown passes to Kaden Davis in his NFL preseason debut in a win over Carolina on Friday night. The performance by Hall of Famer Deion Sanders' son even caught the attention of NBA star LeBron James. 'That young (man) looking good out there,' James wrote. 'Keep going UP!!! HEAD down on the grind and HEAD high to the most high.' The Browns took Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round of the NFL draft. He wasn't selected until the 144th overall pick, a stunning fall for the most recognizable player in this draft class. Sanders finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy balloting last season for Colorado and threw for a school-record 4,134 yards last season. He is part of a crowded Browns quarterback room as Deshaun Watson is expected to sit out this season with a torn Achilles tendon. The group also includes Kenny Pickett, 40-year-old Joe Flacco and third-round pick Dillon Gabriel, who was responsible for a Football Bowl Subdivision-record 188 total touchdowns during a six-year career that included stops at Central Florida, Oklahoma and Oregon. Shedeur Sanders sits out most Browns practice Wednesday with oblique injury
Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders did not finish Wednesday's joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles due to an oblique injury. He stayed on the field for the rest of practice watching the Browns go through drills with the Eagles. With Sanders out, Kenny Pickett led the first team and rookie Dillon Gabriel headed up the second team during 7-on-7 drills. Joe Flacco worked with the starters in 11-on-11 drills, while Gabriel saw most of his action with the second team. The Browns have seen three of their quarterbacks deal with injuries throughout training camp. Kenny Pickett missed three practiced with a hamstring injuries before returning to the field in a limited fashion. Gabriel has also dealt with a hamstring issue and is back working in team drills for a second straight day. The Browns have yet to reveal who will start the team's second preseason game on Saturday against the Eagles and which of their quarterbacks will play in the game in Philadelphia. Sanders started the Browns' preseason opener where he completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers.

Castleford re-sign winger Wallis on loan
Castleford Tigers have re-signed Huddersfield winger Elliot Wallis on loan until the end of the season. The 25-year-old left Cas for the Giants at the end of the 2024 campaign on a four-year deal. He has made just three league appearances for Luke Robinson's side this season and spent time on loan at Leeds Rhinos but did not feature for them. Wallis could go into the Tigers squad for Saturday's Super League game against the Rhinos.
