Student with weapon found at South Central High, no incidents
PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — There was a weapon discovered on the South Central High School campus the morning of Friday, Apr. 25, 2025.
The weapon was discovered around 8:30 a.m. and was quickly resolved by school administrators and the SRO without incident.
The student who was in possession of the weapon will face consequences by the Pitt County Schools Student Code of Conduct.

Suspects wanted for allegedly assaulting special police officer at DC grocery store
WASHINGTON () — D.C. police are looking for the people who allegedly assaulted a special police officer (SRO) in Southeast on Saturday. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to a grocery store in the 400 block of 14th St. at around 9:30 a.m. for reports of an assault. Man accused of depositing check meant for GA county commissioners into personal account
A man was arrested after deputies said he stole a check and deposited it into his own account. However, officials said, the check belonged to the Floyd County Board of Commissioners. According to Floyd County authorities, the check was somehow altered and made to be paid in the order of Powell. Riverdale apartment fire displaces 25 people
Twenty-five people are out of their homes after an apartment fire in Riverdale Tuesday night. Emergency services responded to a fire at an apartment at 5900 Riverdale Road, Building G, Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services said. The fire response was dispatched at 7:13 p.m., and the first engine reached the scene at 7:16 p.m. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] First responders found heavy flames on the first floor, with the fire rapidly reaching the second level. The power lines arching overhead posed an additional hazard to responders and residents. Crews contained the blaze with aggressive tactics. Power and water service has been cut off for the whole building for safety reasons. The American Red Cross is providing help to the 25 people the fire displaced. Officials are still investigating the fire's cause. Fire Chief Tim Sweat thanked firefighters 'for their swift and professional response under challenging conditions.'
