In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, she opened up about how dance has been her anchor through personal and professional highs and lows and how she has been dealing with constant scrutiny around her personal life. With her focus firmly on growth and creativity, Dhanashree isn't shutting the door on love—just letting it find her when the time is right. Excerpts...
Public figures often find themselves at the centre of intense speculation, especially during personal transitions. How do you deal with narratives that may not always reflect your truth?
The narratives circulating around me are far from the truth.
None of it reflects who I am, and I don't engage with it because I know my values, my upbringing, and the kind of person I am. I've always believed in maintaining dignity and grace. Putting others down has never been my way, and it never helps anyone rise in life.
What truly matters is staying focused on your work, your intentions, and the good people around you. Self-growth, self-love, and discipline have always guided me.
I believe that when you waste energy on negativity, you take away from your own growth. I choose to put that energy into becoming better every day.
I'm a deeply spiritual person, and my faith in God and the universe keeps me grounded. At the end of the day, I believe your success, your values, and your truth will eventually speak for themselves, and that's all that really matters.
Has dance played a role in helping you cope with personal challenges?
What's helped me through personal challenges is, honestly, my work, especially dance.

But beyond that, it's been the full creative journey: acting, singing, making new music, and finally getting to do things I should've started years ago. I'm busy shooting, creating music, working on exciting songs, and spending quality time with my family. There's hardly any time to sit still, and I wouldn't want it any other way.
These changes have been for the better. I feel positive, peaceful, and aligned with where I'm headed.
Not many know, but I have a proper recording studio at home and am constantly surrounded by artists and creativity. That's my space now, purely artistic and forward-moving. Fitness has also played a huge role in keeping me grounded and focused. Work has always been my therapy, and staying creatively engaged is what keeps me strong.
Are you open to finding love again, or is your focus solely on your career at the moment?
I've always been extremely focused on my goals, whether it was during my time as a dentist or now in the entertainment industry.
Back then, my aim was to be a flourishing dentist, have the best practice, and have a grateful flow of patients. I worked every single day towards being the best version of myself.
When I transitioned into dance, started my own academy, choreographed, and created viral videos, my attitude remained the same. Meri classes best honi chahiye. I wanted to inspire students, share my knowledge of dance, and help build perfect personalities.
It's never just about teaching steps; it's also about how you carry and present yourself in front of the audience. Ye sab sirf tabhi possible hai jab aap super focused ho.
Now, with acting and singing, working in both Bollywood and the Telugu industry, my focus is exactly where it needs to be on doing bigger, better projects and entertaining people in a way that inspires them to focus on the positives.
Pyaar ki baat karein, toh you can't plan these things. Aap ye decide nahi kar sakte ke main aaj ya ek saal baad pyaar mein padhungi. Love is a different entity altogether. What matters most to me is mera focus aur main apne life mein aage kya dekh rahi hoon.
Right now, it's all about work, growth, and apne aap ko present karna in the best way possible. Aur agar naseeb mein achha likha hai, then why not—who doesn't want love in life? But for now, I'm focusing on my career and giving it my all.

Aashima Mahajan talks about her experience of working with A. R. Rahman in ‘Thug Life'
Playback singer Aashima Mahajan, who has crooned the song 'Jinguchaa' from the upcoming film 'Thug Life', has spoken up on the process of recording the track, and working in tandem with the Oscar and Grammy-winning music composer A. R. Rahman. Aashima has sung both the Hindi and Telugu versions of the song. The singer admitted that Telugu being a new language, posed a challenge for her as she required more takes to record the song compared to its Hindi version. The singer told, 'For the Hindi version, we recorded two to three takes, and based on the requirement of the song, he chose the one he liked. The Telugu version was a bit tougher for me and took more time and effort'. 'Jinguchaa' is a vibrant and celebratory song that has captivated audiences with its infectious energy and star-studded visuals. Aashima Mahajan shares the vocals with Sukhwinder Singh, Ronkini Gupta & Vaishali Samant, adding to the festive spirit of this foot-tapping number. The lyrics are penned by veteran megastar Kamal Haasan and the video features performances by Silambarasan TR, Sanya Malhotra, and Kamal Haasan. 'Since I don't speak Telugu, I had a pronunciation guide who helped me with the diction, learning how to pronounce the consonants and vowels correctly. I already knew the melody and emotions in the Hindi version, but switching to Telugu meant learning a new language, where even the word placement changes depending on the meaning. So, it was a bit of a challenge, but I really enjoyed the process. We ended up recording and had a lot of fun', she added. The word 'Jinguchaa' translates to 'celebrations'. Aashima is an alumnus of A.R. Rahman's KM Music Conservatory. Talking about her experience of working with A.R. Rahman, the singer said, 'It's incredibly rewarding to be part of such a beautiful and globally acclaimed project, especially with maestros like A.R. Rahman and Mani Ratnam were involved. I feel truly overwhelmed to see that the track is still trending and receiving so much love from audiences. My heart is filled with warmth and gratitude for all the appreciation the song has received'. 'Working with A.R. Rahman Sir has been nothing short of a dream come true for any singer. He is a force of music, almost a celestial soul, yet his aura is both empowering and calming, he has a way of instantly putting you at ease. I will never forget the moment when, after listening to my album track, he said I have the potential to be the Indian version of Adele. That compliment means the world to me and I will keep that in my heart forever,' she added.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently voiced his concerns about the direction modern Indian cinema is taking. Anurag and filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma came together to share some of their initial days and struggles in the industry. Anurag about the impact Sairat Reflecting on the 2016 Marathi blockbuster 'Sairat', Anurag Kashyap said he had expected the film to inspire a wave of grounded storytelling. Instead, he noted, it sparked a shift towards formula-driven filmmaking. 'What has happened since KGF , Salaar is that you wonder, why does the DI of all the films look the same? In Animal (2023), the gore and violence worked. Hence, filmmakers are now including more and more gore in their films—sometimes without reason! That for me is a scary part because then people start chasing a wrong goal post, "Kashyap remarked. Ram Gopal Varma about big budget movies He further observed that many directors seem to lack the ambition to craft a true cinematic experience, instead clinging to formulas derived from isolated decisions. I spent what was required, and that created authenticity and realism. If I had spent Rs. 5 crores more, Satya's quality would have been five times worse!' he said. Varma went on to critique the industry's shift post-Baahubali, where, according to him, the increased focus on high budgets and special effects has come at the expense of genuine storytelling.
