Highlights! Khamzat Chimaev ragdolls Dricus du Plessis for 25 minutes to win UFC gold
Chimaev scored a takedown in the opening 10 seconds of the fight and DDP's best attempt at a transition was denied. 'Borz' worked his magic from there and trapped the champion in a dangerous crucifix. The challenger landed about 50 short punches, but nothing that put du Plessis in serious trouble. It was still a dominant five minutes for Chimaev. 'Borz' went back to the well in the second round and suffocated DDP with wrestling, takedowns, and back pressure. It was hard for 'Stillknocks' to get off much of anything, which was frustrating for him and the Chicago fans.
Du Plessis was back on the defensive in the opening moments of the third round. Chimaev scored another slamming takedown and peppered DDP with punches from side control. Once again, 'Borz' locked up a crucifix and had the champion trapped. A cut was opened up on du Plessis' left eye as Chimaev began to land hard punches and elbows. Du Plessis finally got free, but Chimaev nearly grabbed a hold of a rear-naked choke.
The fourth round saw du Plessis get off to another rough start. He finally defended a takedown, but was immediately tracked down by 'Borz' along the cage. Chimaev hung on DDP once more for additional top time. No matter how hard DDP fought to break free Chimaev was always one step ahead. Du Plessis came out guns blazing to begin the fifth and final frame only to get taken down again. Chimaev caught the champion in another crucifix and did more damage on the ground. Du Plessis somehow dug deep to get his own back control in the final seconds of the fight, but there wasn't enough time left to mount a comeback.
In the end, it was Chimaev who proved he has five-round ability as he earned the unanimous decision win to become UFC's newest middleweight champion.

Colorado football offers elite five-star 2027 quarterback
Colorado football extended an offer to five-star class of 2027 quarterback Kavian Bryant on Sunday. The Buffaloes are now one of 25 programs to offer the elite signal caller. As of Aug. 17, Bryant held offers from top schools such as Texas, Auburn, Florida, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas Tech and Texas A&M. 247Sports Composite ranks the Palestine, Texas native as the No. 35 overall player in the class of 2027, the No. 2 quarterback and the sixth player from his home state. Still extremely early in the cycle, On3/Rivals lists in-state programs as the top pursuers, with Texas A&M the current favorite to land the top prospect's commitment (28.9%). Texas Tech (25.3%) and SMU (11.4%) are also in the mix, with others not far behind. Colorado has a long way to go in Bryant's recruitment, but the fact that no clear frontrunner has emerged leaves the door open. Bryant is Colorado's fifth quarterback offer in the class, two of which are already committed to other schools. He is the highest-rated 2027 quarterback to receive an offer from the Buffs so far. Deion Sanders and the Buffs are looking for a resurgent 2027 cycle after an average 2026 class that only ranks No. 78 nationally and last in the Big 12. Bryant will be worth watching as the 2027 cycle heats up. His scheduling a visit would indicate a serious interest in the Colorado program, and a commitment would make the No. 2 quarterback in the nation the immediate headliner. ESPN's FPI updates Notre Dame's chances to go undefeated and College Football Playoff odds
It's always interesting to see how a formula plays out a college football season, and ESPN's Football Power Index has been updated with new metrics for Notre Dame and other teams across the country. Starting off with how the FPI views the Irish's chances to win more than 6-games is a virtual lock, as they have a 99.9% chance to that happening this fall. Not surprising at all, but what was is the fact that Notre Dame has the best chance at going undefeated this fall, with a 7.4% chance of that happening. Only two other schools have a mark over 5%, as Texas and Penn State have solid chances of an undefeated season according to their FPI's metrics. They predict that the Irish will go 9.8-2.2 this season, which is virtually 10 wins. As for making the College Football Playoff, their formula has Notre Dame with a 55.6% chance to make the 12-team field. It's not the best, but only a few schools (Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, along with the Longhorns and Nittany Lions) have a better percentage. This means that the Irish are a virtual lock to making it for the second-consecutive season. Like their chances to make the CFP, the Irish trail the same teams to make the championship game at 12%, with a 5.4% chance of winning it all. These numbers will change over the course of the season, but as the No. 6 ranked team in the FPI, we should expect another excellent season from Notre Dame.
