MSU target, 3-star WR Xavier Stinson commits to UCLA following official visit
A Michigan State football targeted wide receiver prospect is heading to another Big Ten school.
Xavier Stinson of Vero Beach, Fla. announced his commitment to UCLA on Monday. Stinson made his commitment known via a post on his social media X account.
Stinson is a three-star prospect with a recruiting rating of 87 on 247Sports. He ranks as the No. 118 wide receiver prospect in 247Sports' rankings for the 2026 class.
Stinson was scheduled to visit Michigan State this upcoming weekend. His commitment to the Bruins comes after he took an official visit to UCLA this past weekend. He was also strongly considering NC State, and held notable offers from Indiana, Arkansas, Memphis, Pitt, UCF, Vanderbilt and West Virginia.
Michigan State is trending in the right direction for another three-star wide receiver prospect in Zachary Washington. So this commitment from Stinson could be related to that move or a number of the other wide receiver prospects Michigan State is currently pursuing. It also could simply be the Bruins beating out the Spartans for this prospect.

Where do things stand with the Tar Heels' offensive line? As we sit just under two weeks away from the start of the 2025 college football season, the North Carolina Tar Heels are one of the programs with a lot of attention. And rightfully so. With the hiring of Bill Belichick as head coach, the program turned a new page and are now all-in with turning this program around. Belichick has been on the job for months now, recruiting and holding practices to help the program get on the right track. But even so, there are some big questions surrounding this team, including the offensive line. The starting five is still to be determined, and with Austin Blaske's injury, it has complicated things. As of now, Belichick and the Tar Heels are still trying to find the combination that works best and called it a work in progress during Wednesday's media session. 'It's very much a work in progress, but we know a lot more than we did. A lot more, but we still have a long way to go," Belichick said. "And players are improving, and we'll just see what the rates of improvement are. Some guys are maybe improving at this kind of rate and other guys are here. Then there's a talent level, and then it's how players work together. It's not necessarily, you know, these five players individually, it's what five players collectively function together the best, and some of that involves communication and adjustments and so forth and so again. We're just trying to find not only the best players, but ultimately the best offensive line combination that works." The good news is that Belichick and the staff have had these past few weeks to evaluate the line and try to see where everyone best fits. Having a solid line will go a long ways in terms of success for the program, especially with a new quarterback taking the helm this season. Auburn football, YellaWood team up to honor Pat Dye at Jordan-Hare Stadium
Auburn and one of its well-known boosters, Jimmy Raine, have agreed to a five-year partnership that will honor former head coach Pat Dye, as well as serve student-athletes in the ever-changing world of NIL and revenue sharing. For the first time since the field was dedicated to Dye during the 2005 Iron Bowl, "Pat Dye Field" will now grace the 25-yard lines of Jordan-Hare Stadium, and will be paired with the logo of "Yellawood", a subsidiary of Great Southern Wood, owned by Raine. Raine, known affectionately as "Yella Fella" to those native to Alabama, says that his relationship with Dye could never be replicated, and he wanted to use this unique opportunity to honor his longtime friend without drawing too much attention to the company logo. 'When the opportunity arose to do it, I knew I did not want that sacred field to be just used for a commercial,' Rane said in a press release. 'I didn't want it to just be some company's name on there. If we were going to do this, I wanted to make sure it first and foremost honored Coach Dye and that our name was smaller, lower, and under his – because it's Pat Dye Field.' Athletic Director John Cohen says that he is "profoundly grateful" to Raine for supporting Auburn Athletics and honoring Coach Dye in this way. Head coach Hugh Freeze feels that this partnership could not be more perfect in terms of how influential Raine and Dye have been to the football program. 'For my people my age, Coach Dye put this program on the map of what it could become. The way he led men and the stories you hear from his players, he developed Auburn men. He's simply a legend," Freeze said. "It's quite fitting that you get YellaWood and Pat Dye Field to be synonymous together in this way. It's proper for everything they've both done for this program.' The partnership with Yellawood will have other perks. According to Auburn Athletics, "In addition to paying tribute to Dye, the partnership will elevate Auburn's student-athlete brand exposure at the onset of college athletics' revenue sharing era." Fans will get to check out the new addition to Jordan-Hare Stadium and Pat Dye Field on Sept. 6 when Auburn hosts Ball State for the home-opener at 6:30 p.m. CT. Sean Payton on trade talks: 'The easy part is the fielding calls'
It's that time of year. As roster cuts draw closer, NFL teams are making calls about potential trades -- both to bring players in and to ship players out. As the Denver Broncos prepare to make some tough roster decisions, general manager George Paton and coach Sean Payton will receive calls from other clubs about players on the roster bubble. 'I think the easy part is the fielding calls because if they come, then you sit and discuss what call came," Payton said Tuesday. "What happens a lot is the call that comes that's very open-ended. 'What are you guys looking for? What are we looking for?' You know that there's a target in their mind. I like the decisions we have to make, be it they're tough ones. The process is still ongoing.'
