Swee Heng Introduces More Toast & Roll Locations Islandwide
Bringing a Fresh Concept to Familiar Neighbourhoods
Initially launched to provide a new experience distinct from Swee Heng's existing brands like Swee Heng 1989 Classic, Toast & Roll has grown steadily since its debut. The company has opened outlets at Jurong Point, Oasis Terraces, Tampines MRT, Novena Square, and Bedok Mall. This year, upcoming locations are set to open at The LINQ @ Beauty World, Lentor Modern, West Mall, and Heartland Mall Kovan.
The decision to expand Toast & Roll stems from evolving consumer preferences, particularly a demand for bakery products that are not only high in quality but also lifestyle-oriented and convenient. With a broadened menu focusing on toasts and cake rolls but complemented by croissants, Danish pastries, tarts, and festive exclusives, the brand looks to tap into a growing appetite for artisanal, portable baked goods with a modern twist.
' Toast & Roll is perfectly positioned to meet these expectations, especially with our Research and Development team constantly innovating and adapting to global influences,' shared a spokesperson from Swee Heng Group. 'This growth journey allows us to stay ahead of consumer trends and present new ideas in a form that's exciting, modern, and highly relatable.'
Creating Value for All Stakeholders
However, the value does not end with the customer. This retail expansion is also slated to create opportunities for employees through internal mobility, cross-training, and leadership development across outlets. For stakeholders, the growth supports long-term brand equity by enhancing visibility and improving the innovation pipeline. Each new outlet contributes to the company's operational scale, helping Swee Heng respond quickly to market changes while ensuring consistency across service and quality.
New Loyalty App to Enhance Customer Experience
Alongside this broader retail expansion, Swee Heng is also preparing to launch a new loyalty app that will integrate rewards and payment functions across all brands within the Group. Designed to streamline the customer experience, the app will allow users to earn and redeem points, make in-app payments, and purchase or gift vouchers.
By offering these functions on a single platform, the brand aims to enhance convenience while encouraging greater engagement across outlets, including Toast & Roll. It also reflects Swee Heng's ongoing efforts to strengthen its digital presence and provide customers with a more seamless and connected way to interact with its offerings.
Positioning for Long-Term Growth
Despite facing challenges such as location scouting, recruitment, and operational alignment, Swee Heng has leveraged its experience and infrastructure to support a smooth rollout of the new Toast & Roll outlets.
A spokesperson for the company noted, ' Toast & Roll is a strong example of our ability to move beyond traditional formats and launch bold, differentiated concepts that still align with our heritage and quality standards. Its success and expansion reinforce our position as a brand builder with an innovative edge.'
By developing a brand that both complements and refreshes its core identity, Swee Heng aims to continue shaping bakery trends in Singapore while extending its market presence and industry relevance.

Dubai Chamber of Commerce supports expansion of Al Sharqi Shipping company into Kenya, Uganda
Dubai Chamber of Commerce, one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, has supported the expansion of Al Sharqi Shipping, a Dubai-based logistics company, into the Kenyan and Ugandan markets. The chamber's office in Kenya played a vital role in enabling Al Sharqi Shipping to establish its operations in both countries. The office provided valuable market insights, facilitated local partnerships, and offered strategic advice on navigating regulatory environments and fulfilling legal and administrative requirements. Salem Al Shamsi, Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, commented, 'We are committed to enabling local companies to expand globally by strengthening their ties with promising international markets and strategic partners. This supports sustainable business growth and underlines our continued commitment to strengthening the competitiveness of Dubai's private sector, enabling it to capitalise on high-potential opportunities both locally and internationally.' Kashif Rafiq, CEO of Al Sharqi Shipping and Board Member of Al Sharqi Holding, said, 'Al Sharqi Shipping has been connecting businesses with trade through logistics and freight solutions since 1989. With the UAE-Kenya Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce's efforts to support international business growth, we are working to expand our presence in East Africa—strengthening regional ties and contributing to Dubai's wider trade aspirations.' Al Sharqi Shipping offers supply chain management, freight forwarding, and cargo consolidation services. By establishing offices in Kenya and Uganda, the company aims to expand the reach of its products and solutions across African markets, from customs clearance to investing in local trucking infrastructure. The move forms part of the company's broader strategy to diversify and grow its presence in key emerging markets.

Rohde & Schwarz delivers DAB+ network for Cellnex Broadcast Partners
The project's rapid timeline saw the contract signed in March 2025 and the network fully operational by May 1. Following the transfer of broadcast licenses, Cellnex Broadcast Partners needed to establish a completely new DAB+ transmission network for Flanders and Brussels. The company turned to Rohde & Schwarz, which was able to deliver 28 transmitters in under two months. For commercial and customer satisfaction reasons Cellnex Broadcast Partners was naturally keen to get the new service, branded 10D, on air as quickly as possible. At the same time, it recognised the need for the highest operational and technical standards in the solution, as well as maximising quality, reliability and sustainability, and delivering the best total cost of ownership over the lifetime of the installation. Based on previous positive experiences with Rohde & Schwarz transmitters, and particularly the very low maintenance requirement, Cellnex Broadcast Partners turned to the company for the new network. The need for 28 individual transmitters was identified, with an average transmitter power output of approximately 1.5 kW. The R&S TMV9evo is an air-cooled VHF transmitter which delivers up to 50% efficiency, due to its advanced Doherty amplifier technology. It is highly resilient, with advanced redundancy including dual drive and passive standby, meeting the Cellnex Broadcast Partners' expectations of uninterrupted broadcast. Its automated control and management includes adaptive efficiency optimization of amplifier parameters. 'The R&S TMV9evo is designed for just this sort of installation,' said Guy Deschrijver, Rohde & Schwarz Benelux B.V. at Rohde & Schwarz. 'What made this project particularly exciting was that the contract was signed in March 2025, and the complete network was on air on 1 May, less than eight weeks later.' 'Rohde & Schwarz could meet such a tight schedule, thanks to our vertically integrated manufacturing, which gives us complete control over every aspect of the build,' Guy Deschrijver explained. 'More than that, we have the capability to do complete, full-power testing of every single transmitter before it leaves the building, so when each gets to site, all it needs is power and a signal and it is ready for commercial service.' Pascal Levrier, Cellnex Broadcast Partners, added: 'We had four top level requirements for the 10D transmitter network. First, it had to be completely reliable, so we were looking for excellent resilience and redundancy. Second, it had to be efficient, to control energy costs and drive sustainability, and we were impressed with the Rohde & Schwarz promise of close to 50% power efficiency.' 'Third, we took a lifecycle view of the installation, so we carefully considered the total cost of ownership, including routine and preventative maintenance,' Pascal continued. 'Finally, there was the time pressure – we wanted to get the service up and running to delight our audiences as quickly as possible. Rohde & Schwarz hit all these requirements, with the result that the 10D network sets a new standard for radio broadcasting in Flanders.'

DHL Express and Cathay Group sign new sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) deal to drive production and uptake in Asia
DHL Express purchases 2,400 metric tons of SAF from Cathay Group to be used on flights operated by Air Hong Kong, an express all-cargo carrier and wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay. The SAF will be used on Air Hong Kong flights departing from Seoul Incheon, Tokyo Narita and Singapore Changi airports. The new agreement underscores both parties' commitment to lower-carbon air logistics and driving the production and use of SAF for the air cargo sector. HONG KONG SAR/SINGAPORE - Media OutReach Newswire - 13 August 2025 - DHL Express and the Cathay Group have entered into a new sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) partnership that reinforces their shared commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the air cargo industry. Under the agreement, Cathay will supply DHL Express with 2,400 metric tons of SAF for international flights departing from three airports in Asia namely Seoul Incheon International Airport, Tokyo Narita International Airport, and Singapore Changi Airport. These flights are operated by Air Hong Kong, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Cathay Group, which principally operates express cargo services for DHL Express. Continuing through 2025, the partnership is expected to reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 7,190 metric tons —equivalent to the emissions of over 100 flights from Hong Kong to Singapore with an Airbus 330 freighter. "Sustainable aviation fuel currently accounts for less than 1% of the total global jet fuel consumption, yet air transport is one of our biggest sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Our decision to expand our SAF usage in Asia with Cathay is another important step that we have taken to drive momentum in SAF production and demand," said Peter Bardens, Senior Vice President for Network Operations and Aviation – Asia Pacific, DHL Express. "DHL Express is at the forefront of SAF adoption, and we look forward to seeing more partners and customers join us on this journey to build a more robust SAF ecosystem in Asia. Our continued investment in this area aligns with DHL Group's Strategy 2030, which recognizes 'green logistics of choice' as one of the four bottom lines." This SAF deal builds on the long-standing partnership between DHL Express and the Cathay Group, including through Air Hong Kong. For more than two decades, Air Hong Kong has played a vital role in DHL Express's Asia Pacific network. This latest collaboration builds on that strong foundation and paves the way for deeper cooperation in advancing SAF. "This partnership marks the first SAF uplift on Air Hong Kong flights, a key milestone for Cathay as we continue to expand the SAF usage across our global network. SAF remains a core pillar of our strategy to address our carbon emissions, and collaboration is essential to scaling its use. We are excited to be working with like-minded partners like DHL Express to make SAF more accessible and scalable, particularly in Asia," said Tom Owen, Director Cargo, Cathay. This collaboration makes DHL Express the latest strategic partner of Cathay's Corporate SAF Program, an initiative launched in 2022 to support corporate partners in addressing greenhouse gas emissions from business travel and airfreight through the use of SAF. In 2024, the Corporate SAF Program enabled the use of over 6,000 metric tons of SAF, with a record 16 partners participating, including HSBC, AIA and Standard Chartered. Cathay has been steadily expanding its SAF efforts across the region. Earlier in 2025, the Group entered into an agreement with Sinopec to uplift SAF produced in the Chinese Mainland at Hong Kong International Airport, marking the first such export by Sinopec to Hong Kong. Additionally, Cathay has partnered with SK Energy to secure SAF supply in South Korea from 2025 to 2027. Apart from working closely with suppliers, the Group also co-initiated the Hong Kong Sustainable Aviation Fuel Coalition (HKSAFC) to collectively drive policy development and adoption of SAF locally. These initiatives reflect Cathay's mission to expand the use of SAF within its network and foster a regional SAF ecosystem. Investments in SAF are therefore critical to ensuring its availability on a long-term and predictable basis. DHL Express has also been a frontrunner in scaling SAF uptake globally, securing long-term SAF agreements with multiple partners, including Neste, bp, and World Energy. Earlier this year, DHL Express also partnered with Cosmo Oil Marketing to use SAF produced in Japan for flights departing the country. Most recently, DHL Express completed an agreement with Neste that comprises 7,400 metric tons of SAF for international flights departing from Singapore Changi Airport, further demonstrating the company's proactive approach to driving SAF demand and supply across the region. These efforts will also enhance DHL's understanding of how to transport these alternative fuels, as it is a segment under its Strategy 2030's key growth sector, "New Energy." DHL Group is developing end-to-end logistics solutions for eight segments: wind, solar, electric vehicle (EV) and batteries, battery and energy storage systems, EV charging, grid, alternative fuel and hydrogen.
