Peterborough knitters create 50ft scarf for Dr Who exhibition
A team of knitters have used their skills to create a 50ft (15m) long scarf for an unofficial Doctor Who exhibition. Adventures in Time & Space, which opens at Peterborough Museum next month, asked the museum's resident knitting group to embrace the Time Lord's spirit and create the scarf.The original neckwear worn by the fourth Doctor, played by actor Tom Baker, reportedly measured 18ft (5.5m), so this woolly masterpiece is more than three times its length."It took about six weeks to knit the scarf and we are really pleased to have gifted it to the museum to support the exhibition," a group spokeswoman said.
As well as forming a great friendship group and support network, the 14 members raise money for The Children's Society by selling their hand-knitted items. The knitters, who are known as SCARF, said that after the exhibition ends in November, they plan to turn the scarf into shorter versions to donate to a local homeless charity in Peterborough.

Before joining the cast of Coronation Street as Evelyn Plummer in 2018, Dame Maureen was already a seasoned actress with roles in Doctor Who and The Pianist, and even earned a BAFTA nomination for her role as Trish in the beloved film Educating Rita. This year marks her seventh year on the cobbles, but recently she announced a brief break from playing Tyrone Dobbs' grandmother on the ITV soap. Despite becoming a regular in 2018, Dame Maureen had a short stint on the show back in 2002 as a different character. Last year, viewers saw Evelyn make the brave decision to return to university to study law. Keen to immerse herself fully in the university lifestyle, she told her friends and family on the street that she would be leaving her Weatherfield home to live in student halls. Ncuti Gatwa regenerates into Olly Alexander as the NT's ‘Importance of Being Earnest' transfers to London's West End
Ncuti Gatwa's time on Doctor Who proved to be pretty brief. But he didn't put his feet up in the gap between his two seasons – theatre was his first love and he got straight back on that stage last Christmas to star in the National Theatre's hallucinogenically camp take on Oscar Wilde's classic 'The Importance of Being Earnest', the first the NT had staged since the '80s. The Max Webster-directed production was a roaring great hit and now it's set to transfer to the West End, replacing Mischief Theatre's ' The Comedy About Spies ' at the Noël Coward Theatre. Gatwa's not coming along though: whether he'd have been up for it is a moot point, as he's already busy starring in the RSC's new West End play Born with Teeth. However, a fine replacement has been found for the role of young 'bachelor' about town Algernon Montcrieff: it's Olly Alexander, who hasn't been in Doctor Who but did make his name as actor in ' It's A Sin ', another show by Russell T Davies. Wilde's play is very much an ensemble affair and there is no news on further casting at this stage, though we dare to dream that the mighty Sharon D Clarke will return as the formidable Lady Bracknell. Casualty declares major incident as first look is revealed
A major incident is declared in tomorrow's episode of Casualty, as an ambulance crashes right into the ED. The instalment will be the final part of the show's latest boxset, which is called Internal Affairs. In the spotlight this mini-series have been characters including Rida Amaan (Sarah Seggari), Faith Cadogan (Kirsty Mitchell) and new Clinical Lead Flynn Byron (Olly Rix). Rida faced a horrific ordeal at work a few weeks ago, when she was sexually assaulted by her colleague Mr Whitelaw (Robert Bathurst). The nurse attempted to record a confession from Russell, but he worked out what she was doing and pulled her hijab from her, another ordeal that left Rida terrified. This violation was discovered by Flynn, who had walked in on Russell and Rida shortly after it happened. Complex Flynn Byron made quite the entrance at the start of this boxset, as he was involved in an RTC. Gaining the respect of his colleagues was very important to Flynn but he had a battle with Rash Masum (Neet Mohan) in particular, who put Flynn in his bad books after Tariq Hussein (Manpreet Bachu) left. More Trending Last week, the ED staff gathered together to celebrate Faith and Iain Dean's (Michael Stevenson) wedding.
