Belmont Mayor Robert Rossi said the project reflects the city's commitment to sustainability and creating spaces where people can connect.
'This project is a great example of how we can care for the environment while creating spaces the community can enjoy.' Mr Rossi said.
'Seeing the turtles return was a meaningful moment. We've delivered a place that honours our history, supports local wildlife and invites people to connect with nature.'
The renewal used a water sensitive urban design approach, mimicking natural water flow and reintroducing native vegetation zones, turning the lake into a functioning ecosystem that improves water quality, sustainably manages stormwater, and creates better habitats for birds, turtles and other wildlife species.
The project has made the park more welcoming and accessible for a range of community visitors, the city said.
New public features include timber decking, seating, picnic shelters, a footbridge, lighting and accessible pathways, making it easier for people of all ages and abilities to relax and explore the park. The project aims to make the park more accessible for the community. Credit: Faulkner Park
Heritage and community elements such as the war memorial, Country Women's Association memorial, the gazebo and Don Walters' Six Seasons sculptures were preserved and integrated into the new design.
The park is open to the community.

The Arabian Silk Road: First Global Path to Responsible Consumption and Production

Renowned for its green plains and world-famous dates, Al Qassim has emerged as a Saudi model for integrating agricultural heritage with modern sustainability practices. Under the patronage of HRH Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the 'Qassim Land' initiative was launched to promote green cities and a circular economy, in support of SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. The initiative aims to enhance production methods, recycling, and effective utilization of agricultural waste, while expanding exports into global markets. Al Qassim's experience was recently showcased at the UN's High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development Goals in July, during which the Saudi Green Building Forum (SGBF) presented a success story, illustrating Saudi Arabia's efforts to localize SDGs by aligning them with circular economy principles. SGBF Secretary-General Faisal Al-Fadl, explained that the Qassim governor's initiative is documented through saaf® as a standard framework that promotes innovation and sustainability. He also emphasized that 'circular economy is no longer an option but a necessity to ensure food and environmental security.' Dubbed 'the Arab Silk Road', the Qassim dates industry reaches markets across various continents. To further elevate the Kingdom's standing, HH the Governor of AlQassim launched the 'International Date Road' initiative to link Saudi date production to the historic Silk Road. The project will facilitate the export of more than 578,000 tons of dates annually, strengthening the Kingdom's position as a global hub for date trade, in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 objectives. The Saudi Green Building Forum, recognized in Consultative Status with the United Nations, hosts its 15th edition, with 3,000+ participants, from companies such as Saudi Aramco, Nesma & Partners, Climatech, Roshan, and Shaker Group. Titled: 'Energizing Green Action: Driving Nature-Based Solutions for Sustainable Development Goals', the SGBF will feature 50 speakers and more than 20 sessions to address green city challenges, promote multilateral agreements, and further accelerate localization of Sustainable Development Goals in light of Saudi Vision 2030. Sponsored by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, the forum will take place on October 1-2, 2025, at Al-Malfa Hall – Mohammed bin Salman Non-Profit City (MiSK City), Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Cam Ward scuffle with Jeffery Simmons "shows you the kind of dog he has in him"

Scuffles during practices aren't unusual during the summer, but it is unusual for a starting quarterback to be in the thick of one. That's where Titans quarterback Cam Ward found himself on Monday, however. Ward threw a touchdown to wide receiver Calvin Ridley near the end of practice and then shoved defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons before celebrating in front of his teammate. Simmons responded by shoving Ward back and then lost his helmet in the multi-player scrum that followed. Simmons did not take part in the final couple of plays of practice and head coach Brian Callahan had the team run after the session was over. Neither Simmons nor Ward spoke to reporters, but left tackle Dan Moore said Ward is 'absolutely not' allowed to be touched. Cornerback Jarvis Brownlee concurred, but said he liked seeing the fire from the rookie. 'You never want to see your quarterback in the middle of those kinds of things,' Brownlee said, via Turron Davenport of 'But when it does happen, it shows you the kind of dog he has in him. He ain't going to take nothing.' Monday's extracurriculars ended without anyone getting hurt, but Callahan is still likely to offer a reminder about what's off limits on the practice field.
