The Summit, a one-of-a-kind series that featured 16 contestants tasked with climbing a mountain, had its premiere in the fall last year for its inaugural season. It showed the participating contestants going through various obstacles, which included twists and turns by the Mountain's Keeper, to reach the checkpoints on time. The Summit, hosted by Manu Bennett , was a spinoff of the Australian series of the same name. The latter show made its debut in 2023 and has completed two seasons so far.In the show, the contestants were provided two weeks' time to climb the mountain in the Southern Alps, while overcoming numerous challenges that came their way.The maiden season of The Summit took viewers on a thrilling adventure as the participants made every possible effort to be the first person to reach the top of the mountain and bag the $250,000 cash prize money.Out of the 16 contestants at the start of the journey, three were finally able to complete the path without getting eliminated or withdrawing from the contest.Among these three were Nick Morgan, a salesman from Louisiana's Madisonville; Ladeania 'Punkin' Jackson, US Air Force Sergeant from Columbus; and Therron Pittman, a Los Angeles-based waiter. All three of them ended up getting $250,000, while Morgan received $500,000 in total winnings after being voted by the players, who were eliminated earlier from the show.Even though fans of the Australian version of the series have witnessed two seasons to date, there is no possibility of having a Season 2 for The Summit in the US.In April this year, broadcaster CBS announced its decision to cancel The Summit along with its comedy series Poppa's House. This came after it placed two other shows in the lineup -- DMV and Einstein. The Summit did not perform well in terms of ratings and received 2.6 million viewers on average in the maiden season, according to TV Insider. Also, Season 1 of the series did not receive much praise from critics, who criticised the concept of including normal people in the contest rather than going for experienced climbers. Some of the critics had even termed Bennett's hosting as a "cheap Survivor knockoff".As a result, CBS decided to avoid going ahead with a second season of the show.Actor Jai Courtney presented the show in the country.CBS will reportedly share details during its CBS 2025-2026 schedule reveal on May 7.

He added, 'If we're talking about like a change agent coming from the outside that's really going to shake things up and somebody that I feel like can speak to, you know, all people, plus we actually… he's a celebrity who actually knows what they're talking about," as reported by The Daily Beast. Charlampagne pointed out that Stewart has already displayed his leadership by helping get legislation passed. He highlighted Stewart's role in lobbying for the 2022 bill that expanded the healthcare and benefits for veterans who were exposed to toxic substances during their service period. He also went ahead to suggest another media person from late late-night roster who would work well alongside Stewart. Charlampagne said, 'Maybe a Jon Stewart-[Stephen] Colbert ticket, because, you know, Colbert's not going to have a job. He's not working because of President Trump, so they say.' The remark came after CBS recently announced that it will be axing Stephen Colbert's The Late Show in 2026. While CBS persisted that financial reasons were the factor behind the decision, there were speculations of Trump's influence. This came just days after Colbert publicly criticized CBS parent company Paramount for settling a defamation case with Trump for $16 million. The Late Show host called the settlement amount a 'big fat bribe,' noting it came just before Paramount's planned merger with Skydance, which still needs approval from the Trump-appointed head of the Federal Trade Commission.
