PAG elevates India head Nikhil Srivastava as Co-Head of Private Equity

PAG, a leading Asia-Pacific focused alternative investment firm, appointed Nikhil Srivastava , Partner and Head of India Private Equity , as Co-Head of PAG's Private Equity business, according to a company statement. Nikhil will also join the firm's Management Committee, and will work alongside David Wong, Partner and Co-head of PAG Private Equity , to lead PAG's private equity operations Nikhil will succeed Lincoln Pan, Partner and Co-Head of PAG Private Equity, who has accepted a role as Chief Executive Officer of Jardine Matheson Holdings Limited. Lincoln will serve PAG until November this year, it said.Nikhil has played a pivotal role in building and scaling PAG's India private equity platform.He has led several landmark investments, including the acquisition and public listing of Nuvama Wealth Management , and Manjushree Technopack , one of the largest PE transactions in India this year, among others, it said.Nikhil joined the firm in 2019 after working across India, Singapore, and the United States markets with KKR for nearly a decade. Prior to that, he worked at Goldman Sachs and Inphi Corporation.Nikhil holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a master's in electrical engineering from Stanford, and a bachelor's in electrical engineering from BITS Pilani. Nikhil is also the author of several patents. PAG has deployed over $1.7 billion in India since setting up office in 2019. Its major investments include Nuvama Wealth Management, CDMO company Acme Formulations; RK Pharma Inc; and Sekhmet Pharmaventures.PAG is a leading Asia-Pacific-focused alternative investment firm which manages over $55 billion in capital on behalf of nearly 300 global institutional investors. PAG Private Equity manages four pan-Asian buyout funds and two growth funds with $19 billion of capital under management.Weijian Shan, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of PAG, said: 'Nikhil assumes this leadership position with an outstanding track record in deal-making, team leadership, and strategic execution, as well as a deep understanding of the region and ability to manage and grow our portfolio companies.'Last year, PAG made one of its largest deals in India by acquiring Manjushree Technopack Ltd, India's largest rigid plastic packaging solution provider. PAG bought Manjushree from the US fund Advent International at a valuation of $1 billion.

CDS emphasised that Future Warfare will be shaped by four trends: the proliferation of sensors across all domains, long-range hypersonic and precision weapons, manned-unmanned teaming with autonomous systems, and the intelligentisation of the battlefield driven by AI, ML, LLMs, and quantum tech. CDS also outlined the approach to Capability Development through adaptability, innovation, and self-reliance, wherein India has created collaborative defence manufacturing ecosystems with private industry, adopting a 'Tactics-led Modernisation' strategy in developing systems suited to operational needs and local conditions. He emphasised that the ongoing transformation would include changes to doctrine, organisational culture and human capital, where India's unique geography, experience and aspirations shape its defence outlook. General Anil Chauhan affirmed India's commitment to global peace & responsible innovation and commended the Shangri-La Dialogue as a critical forum for fostering dialogue and cooperation in the collective pursuit of global stability. Shangri-La Dialogue is Asia's premier defence and security summit that brings together defence ministers, military chiefs, policy makers and strategic experts across the globe. The event will witness leaders from 40 nations addressing Indo-Pacific Security challenges. But what exactly is KYC, and why is it mandatory to avail key services in India? Let us find out. What is KYC and what are the required documents it needs? In layman's terms, KYC or Know Your Customer is a process used by a service provider or company, such as a bank or a telecom service provider, to ensure that their customer is a real entity, and the details furnished by him/her to avail a service, are not fake or fraudulent. KYC process requires government-issued documents that the company can use to authenticate the identity, address, and other details of the customer. Depending on the service, the most commonly required documents for KYC process include the Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport, voter ID card, and/or driving license. Most KYC processes require customers to provide copies of these documents in person or via live photo or video verification. Why banks, financial services, digital wallets require KYC? KYC is a mandatory process in banks, and indeed the entire financial sector, as it significantly reduces the chances of financial crimes like money laundering, fraud accounts, etc. KYC ensures that the person availing any financial services, like taking out a loan or opening a new bank account, is the same one in submitted documents. Banks and other financial institutions can provide limited services without KYC, and may even freeze bank accounts if the process is not completed on time. Similarly, digital wallets like Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, etc, have limited functionality without KYC, which is required to enjoy full access to their services. Why new mobile connections need KYC? Akin to financial services, telecom service provider require KYC before issuing and activating a new SIM card to ensure that the person availing the service is the same one in the documents. Today, mobile operators commonly use Aadhaar-based eKYC where a customer's identity verified via OTP. Various KYC methods Apart from Aadhaar-based eKYC, customers can also opt for a physical KYC by filling up relevant forms and submitting photocopies of the required documents. Additionally, several bank services require Video KYC in which a bank agent confirms the identity and details of the customer via a live video call.

China says Hegseth touting Cold War mentality in calling it 'threat'
China on Sunday denounced US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth for calling the Asian country a threat, accusing him of touting a Cold War mentality as tensions between Washington and Beijing further escalate. The foreign ministry said Hegseth had vilified Beijing with defamatory allegations the previous day before at the Shangri-La Dialogue, a global security conference. The statement also accused the United States of inciting conflict and confrontation in the region. Hegseth deliberately ignored the call for peace and development by countries in the region, and instead touted the Cold War mentality for bloc confrontation, it said, referring to the post-World War II rivalry between the US and the former Soviet Union. No country in the world deserves to be called a hegemonic power other than the US itself, it said, alleging that Washington is also undermining peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific. Hegseth said in Singapore on Saturday that Washington will bolster its defences overseas to counter what the Pentagon sees as rapidly developing threats by Beijing, particularly in its aggressive stance toward Taiwan. China's army is rehearsing for the real deal, Hegseth said. We are not going to sugarcoat it the threat China poses is real. And it could be imminent. The Chinese statement stressed that the Taiwan question is entirely China's internal affair, saying the US must never play with fire with it. It also alleged Washington had deployed offensive weaponry in the South China Sea, was stoking flames and creating tensions in the Asia-Pacific and "turning the region into a powder keg. In a Facebook post on Saturday, China's Embassy in Singapore said Hegseth's speech was steeped in provocations and instigation. The US and China had reached a deal last month to cut US President Donald Trump's tariffs from 145 per cent to 30 per cent for 90 days, creating time for negotiators from both sides to reach a more substantive agreement. China also reduced its taxes on US goods from 125 per cent to 10 per cent. But it's uncertain if a trade war truce will last. Trump in a social media post on Friday said he would no longer be nice with China when it comes to trade and accused Beijing of breaking an unspecified agreement with the US. Tensions escalated anew after the US said on Wednesday it would start revoking visas for Chinese students studying there. Separately, the Chinese Embassy in Singapore criticized attempts to link the issue of Taiwan with that of the war in Ukraine after French President Emmanuel Macron warned of a dangerous double standard in focusing on a potential conflict with China at the cost of abandoning Ukraine. The embassy made no mention of Macron in its post on Facebook that included a photo showing the French president at the Singapore forum. If one tries to denounce double standards' through the lens of a double standard, the only result we can get is still double standard, it said. China, which usually sends its defence minister to the Shangri-La forum, this time sent a lower-level delegation led by Maj Gen Hu Gangfeng, the vice president of the People's Liberation Army National Defence University.
