Sicily is known for its luxury villas, but it can be difficult to find the perfect rental destination. Supported by Select Sicily's years of experience, travelers can easily find the best Sicily villas to rent and make the most of any getaway. The team behind Select Sicily has a true passion for the island, presenting a tailor-made experience to help others discover the hidden beauty of Sicily.
Founding Select Sicily
The vision for Select Sicily began about 25 years ago, when the business' founder Mr. Aldo Morici was working as a travel guide for small luxury groups. He soon realized that he had the experience necessary to work with villa owners and deal with their properties, and there was an opportunity to share the island's charm with a wider audience. So Select Sicily was born, to help anyone find villas in Sicily to rent.
'What makes me keep going is the passion for my island,' Morici shared, '[is] the desire to let people discover Sicily—its beauties and treasures—especially those not well-known but splendid anyway.'
Growing Through Partnership and Care
Select Sicily was founded in the mid-2000's, and enjoyed significant success from the beginning. The company made strong partnerships with villa owners, and gradually built a collection of luxury villas in Sicily to share with travellers. The company operates solely on the island, bringing an unmatched knowledge of the Sicilian market in terms of locations and relationships with villa owners.
'We regularly visit our properties to make sure everything is always up to standard and we know the areas inside out.' Morici explained. 'The idea is to offer a tailor-made experience from choosing the right villa to suggesting the best places to visit in the area.'
Overcoming Challenges
By 2020, Select Sicily had already established its presence in the luxury travel market. When global travel trends shifted and international mobility became limited, the company quickly adapted by focusing on the national audience. This strategic pivot allowed them to continue operations and even experience a strong season.
'We believed that holidays in private, isolated villas would appeal especially to our Italian clients,' Morici shared. 'And it truly worked—it turned out to be a successful season for us, despite the broader challenges.'
The Best Sicily Has to Offer
Whether they're searching for villas in Sicily with private pools or Sicily beach villas, Select Sicily is helping local and international customers experience the best possible holiday on the island. Through a combination of natural beauty, rich history, and local architecture—not to mention the culture, weather, and cuisine—Sicily stands out as an ideal holiday destination.
As Morici said, '[Sicily] is perfect for every taste, and staying at a luxury villa is just the icing on the cake!'
Plans for the Future
Moving forward, Select Sicily has started to turn its attention toward new Italian locations, such as Sardinia or Capri. While the company's love will always be for Sicily, they hope to expand their offerings to these new locations, sharing new cultural experiences with local and international audiences.

Tesla's Optimus humanoid robot program head exiting firm, Bloomberg News reports

June 6 (Reuters) - The head of Tesla's (TSLA.O), opens new tab Optimus program, Milan Kovac, is leaving the company, casting uncertainty over chief executive Elon Musk's humanoid robot project, Bloomberg News reported on Friday, citing a person familiar with the matter. Kovac, vice president and head of engineering for Optimus, told colleagues on Friday that he was departing, effective immediately. Ashok Elluswamy, who leads Tesla's autopilot teams, will take on Kovac's role, the report said. Tesla, Kovac and Elluswamy did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment. Musk has earlier said he expected Tesla to make thousands of Optimus robots this year. He said in April that China's export restrictions on rare-earth magnets had affected production of the humanoid robots. Tesla has shifted focus to launching the robots and its robotaxi service, with much of the company's valuation hanging on that bet. "The only things that matter in the long term are autonomy and Optimus," Musk told CNBC in an interview in May.
