Arne Slot confirms why Liverpool are ready to break transfer record AGAIN

A lot of money has been spent by Liverpool and while the outgoings are reducing our net spend, you can't really avoid the fact that we've obliterated our spending record for a transfer window. No Liverpool fan has ever seen anything like it, the past few months have been a fever dream. 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the away range TODAY LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! Of course, the club had a lot of players to replace, not least Diogo Jota who sadly passed away, alongside Luis Diaz, Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher and Darwin Nunez leaving on transfers. 🔴 Making the necessary adjustments to the starting XI was going to be difficult and expensive, but Arne Slot spoke to the media this week and revealed his perspective on our lavish spending. Spending 100 million is 'normal' for Liverpool In an interview with Men in Blazers, Slot said: "It's hardly impossible to bring a player in who is good enough to play for us for a small amount of money because every player who is playing for us, that won for league for us, is probably worth 100m or more. "So if you want to bring in a player that can play with these players, or be competition for these players, then you almost have to spend that amount of money, unless you just find that one player that no one ever saw and all of a sudden, you can buy him for 30m and he's good enough to be a player for 100m, but that's not going to happen every single time. "If we want to improve the team, or if we want to bring players in that are good enough to play for us, then spending this amount is 'normal' and this is also what this club did with Alisson in the past, with Virgil Van Dijk in the past and if you add inflation, then you come to the numbers we've just paid for Florian Wirtz, for example." The club is striving for perfection and last season's efforts in the Premier League were extraordinary, even though our efforts in the other competitions might have felt a little underwhelming. This time, Slot is adamant that we can deliver more, and new signings in that context weren't going to be cheap. It's been well documented that the transfer market valuations have become increasingly inflated over the last few years, simply because of the deals that clubs are doing, irrespective of the general inflation rate going up in England and across the world when you consider the different currencies. But the £116m that Liverpool have agreed to spend on Florian Wirtz genuinely feels like an accurate figure, even though a few years ago, we might have been looking at £80-90m for the German star. In terms of Euros, the club nearly broke the 100m mark for Hugo Ekitike as his £79m fee (all-in) converts to €91m. His signing was necessary and the club will have a long-term vision of him helping the side to reach even greater heights under Arne Slot, following in Jurgen Klopp's footsteps. Further attacking signings are being considered, with Alexander Isak at Newcastle hoping to join in a deal worth a British transfer record fee, with Bradley Barcola and Rodrygo Goes also on our radar. They would also breach the 100m mark, regardless of which currency the milestone is reached, and as Slot said in his interview, breaking into a team of 100m players requires an expensive signing. So don't be surprised to see further spending moving forward. The Reds are held in the very high esteem when it comes to Slot and he will only bring players in that he feels can improve our level.

Liverpool set to ENTER mega transfer talks today

Liverpool are reportedly going into hold transfer talks over the signing of a world-class centre-back after today. The defence is definitely a position that Richard Hughes wants to reinforce this summer. Liverpool know they are light in the centre-back position, even if Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo can be used there as makeshift options. 🔴 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the away range TODAY LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! The reality is that Arne Slot's side has become stronger in every other department except for the centre-back position. It's the only area in the squad where the depth has decreased this summer with Jarell Quansah's departure. This is something Hughes is looking to fix. Liverpool are just having to wait the long game in order to get their desired target. But it now looks like that isn't that far away. In fact according to a recent report, Liverpool expect to enter transfer talks pretty much straight after today. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas away range That's according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Liverpool are about to enter more talks with Crystal Palace after the Community Shield in order to sign Marc Guehi. The world-class centre-back, who proved his quality at Euro 2024 for England last summer is on the final year of his contract. The Mail claim that Palace want £45m for Guehi's services, which seems a little steep considering his contract situation. Liverpool have been courting Guehi all summer and have held multiple discussions over bringing him to the club this summer. With the Community Shield out of the way, now they can now focus on trying to convince Palace to sell him.
