Russell Brand is being represented by Kevin Spacey 's lawyer in court as he faces rape and sexual assault charges relating to four women.
The comedian and actor is being represented by Oliver Schneider-Sikorsky, who successfully defended the Hollywood actor Spacey against sex assault allegations in 2023.
Brand arrived alongside Mr Schneider-Sikorsky at Westminster Magistrates Court this morning wearing gold rimmed sunglasses, a black shirt and trousers.
At least six police officers had to intervene as the defendant was immediately surrounded.
As he queued for security inside the court, Brand was seen touching a lawyer's shoulder seemingly to check they were ok.
The 49-year-old was charged by post last month with one count each of rape, indecent assault and oral rape, as well as two counts of sexual assault, relating to four separate women.
The charges came following a joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4 Dispatches in September 2023 in which several women accused him of rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse.
In a video previously posted on his X account, Brand said he welcomed the opportunity to prove his innocence.
Brand is charged with the rape of a woman in 1999 in the Bournemouth area and the oral rape and sexual assault of a woman in 2004 in the Westminster area of London.
The 2004 sexual assault charge alleges the actor touched the woman's breasts without her consent.
He is also accused of indecently assaulting a woman in 2001 by 'grabbing her arm and dragging her towards a male toilet', and sexually assaulting another woman between 2004 and 2005 - both offences are alleged to have taken place in Westminster, London.
Brand, who presented a BBC Radio 2 show between 2006 and 2008, left the role after his on-air prank, now known as Sachsgate, when he left a 'lewd' voicemail for Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs about his granddaughter.
He also presented on Big Brother spin-off shows Big Brother's Big Mouth and Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack in the noughties.
The TV and film star was married to US pop singer Katy Perry from 2010 to 2012 but is now married to Laura Gallacher, the sister of presenter Kirsty, and the pair have two children, Mabel and Peggy.

Powys actor Tom Cullen to star as BBC hit the Gold returns
Powys actor Tom Cullen will be appearing on our screens this weekend as the BBC's hit show the Gold returns. Tom, who grew up in Llandrindod Wells, will reprise his role John Palmer in the factual drama series which is inspired by the true story of the 1983 Brink's-Mat robbery and the decades-long chain of events that followed. The Gold is the creation of highly acclaimed writer Neil Forsyth the creative force behind 'Bob Servant Independent' and 'Guilt'. The first series was a huge critical success with the Hugo Rifkind of The Times calling it "tremendous – I'm not sure there's been a drama like it in years' while the Evening Standard called it "a truly smart British crime drama with a classic feel and a knockout cast". The first series saw Cullen's Palmer work with Kenneth Noye, played by Jack Lowden, to melt down the stolen gold and launder it in the open market. According to Cullen, viewers can expect a big change in Palmer in the much anticipated second series. In an interview with the BBC ahead of the new series Cullen said: 'There's quite a large leap in terms of John Palmer from series one to series two. 'The themes of the show are a continuation of series one, in that it's about class, it's about money, it's about greed. It's about how money can be like an infection, and it can change the very makeup of a person. 'I also think it is about consequences. What happens if you push beyond your limits?' 'This series follows the second half of the Brink's-Mat gold and it's also a story of the consequences faced by several of our key characters across the entire show. 'I always saw The Gold as a two series show, following the two halves of the gold, so this will be the final series.'

Walton Goggins explains why he unfollowed Aimee Lou Wood on Instagram
Walton Goggins addressed rumors of a feud with his White Lotus co-star Aimee Lou Wood, explaining that he unfollowed her on Instagram to seek closure after filming the emotionally taxing show. Goggins compared his need for distance to his departure from Justified, stating he often needs time alone after intense roles to process the experience. He revealed that filming The White Lotus in Thailand was particularly difficult due to personal memories of traveling there after his first wife's death, and Wood was supportive of his need for space. Goggins refuted claims of a feud with Wood, expressing his adoration and respect for her talent, and he re-followed her on Instagram during the interview. Goggins also addressed a controversial interview with The Times, where he felt a reporter insinuated a feud with Wood and asked an offensive question, leading him to end the interview abruptly. Actress Sydney, 27, turned heads in a bold red gown, with a midsection that highlighted her svelte waist and a statement skirt accessorised with a giant red bow. 10 Sydney Sweeney made four outfit changes in one day to promote her new movie, Echo Valley, in New York City Credit: Getty 10 The actress put on a display in a black fitted waistcoat and a white miniskirt Credit: Getty 10 Sydney was also spotted wearing a plaid brown jumpsuit Credit: Getty 10 For her arrival at Good Morning America, the starlet put on a leggy display in a brown pinstriped blazer dress Credit: Getty The Euphoria star wore her blonde locks in tumbling waves and accentuated her natural beauty with a full face of make-up. Earlier in the day, Sydney put on an equally-chic display in a black fitted waistcoat and a white miniskirt, elevating her height with leather boots. She toted her essentials around in a black leather handbag and shielded her eyes with wayfarer sunglasses. If that wasn't enough, Sydney was also spotted wearing a plaid brown jumpsuit and a giant matching tie on the same very steps of her hotel. read more on Sydney Sweeney DIPPY DEAL Sydney Sweeney cleans up after turning her USED bathwater into bars of soap This time, she carried a stone handbag, which coordinated with her heels. And, for her arrival at Good Morning America, the starlet put on a leggy display in a brown pinstriped blazer dress. Sydney appeared to confirm her breakup with long-term partner Jonathan Davino at the film's premiere. Speaking to The Times at the AMC Lincoln Square event, the Washington-native was asked if she was still planning her wedding to Jonathan. "No,' she replied. When pressed on whether she was now single, she answered simply: 'Yes.' The actress had been seen in recent months without her engagement ring, fuelling rumours that the couple - who began dating in 2018 and became engaged in 2022 - had quietly parted ways. Sydney Sweeney makes low-key exit in same SUV as White Lotus star Patrick Schwarzenegger after beach club opening party At Wednesday's premiere, Sydney was joined by co-star Julianne Moore, who plays her on-screen mother in the new thriller. The film follows Julianne's character, a horse trainer living on a Pennsylvania farm, whose life is upended when her daughter, played by Sydney, arrives covered in someone else's blood. It comes as Sydney films the third - and potentially last - series of Euphoria. The explicit teen drama, which follows recovering drug addict Rue (Zendaya) as she navigates school life and relationships while narrating the lives of her school mates, has become known for its dark storytelling. Sydney shot to fame in the series as Cassie, a popular girl with painfully low self-esteem who starts an abusive relationship with her best friend's ex, the violent and uncaring Nate (played by Jacob Elordi). Despite the success of the series, by the time season three is released there will have been a four-year wait for new episodes, thanks to the massive success of its cast in other projects, the death of star Angus Cloud, and the 2023 writers and actors' strikes. As a result, writer Sam Levinson has placed a time jump, launching the troubled teenage group into adulthood. Sydney has since sparked rumours that, despite their physically and mentally abusive relationship, her character Cassie is set to marry Nate, with the actress being spotted in a wedding gown on set. Echo Valley is scheduled for a U.S. theatrical release on Friday 6, with a rollout on Apple TV+ next week. 10 At the film's premiere, she turned heads in a bold red gown Credit: The Mega Agency 10 She posed for snaps with her co-star, Julianne Moore Credit: Splash 10 She carried a stone handbag, which coordinated with her heels for one look Credit: Getty 10 The Euphoria star has certainly been a busy girl Credit: Getty 10 Sydney elevated her height with leather boots Credit: Getty
