Family's plea for truth after man shot dead in 'case of mistaken identity'
Mahad Abdi Mohamed, 27, died after being shot in the head in Waverley Road, Tottenham, at 8.45 pm on March 20, the Metropolitan Police said.
DCI Rebecca Woodsford said the suspects got out of a stolen Mitsubishi Outlander, which was later recovered, burned out, and fired the gunshots which killed him.
Police previously said they had arrested four adult men on suspicion of murder who were subsequently bailed.
DCI Woodsford, the senior investigating officer into the murder, said Mohamed's family were devastated by the murder.
Appealing for information, DCI Woodsford said: 'We believe he is a completely innocent person in this, and actually this is a case of mistaken identity. I believe this was a pre-planned shooting, although I also believe that Mahad was killed mistakenly; those suspects were out that night to murder someone and cause serious harm.
'And I truly believe that somebody does know some information about this. If you think you have information about the people that could be involved, the people that might have helped or burned the vehicle out, I'm appealing for people to come forward.'
Mohamed's younger sister, Amal Abdi Mohamed, 23, said her brother was a loving father to his son and was planning to get married in the summer.
Mohamed had worked at Waterloo Station, as well as part-time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Royal Ascot as a security worker.
Amal added: 'My beloved brother is gone, and we still don't know why. Someone knows what happened to him, and yet we are here with no answer, no justice, and just a family torn apart trying to navigate through the pain.
'He was taken away from us through gun violence. A bullet didn't just take his life, it tore through our family, through our heart, and it's truly shocking, it's devastating, and it's so senseless, because this type of violence should never be normal.
'It should never be something a family ever has to expect, prepare for, or live with. He had this rare gift of making people feel seen, heard and loved, and if you were having a bad day, you would just want to be around him.'

Amal said that his five-year-old son 'looked up to him like a superhero'.
'How do you look at a child who adored him day and night, and tell them that he's gone and you don't have the answers why? That boy will have to grow up with no dad,' she added.
'If you think you may know anything or have seen anything, you may think it doesn't matter, but it might be the key to giving us an answer, and it might be the thing that finally lets our family take a breath. To stay silent is to be complicit.'

Burglars steal gold jewellery worth £500,000 while owners at home
Bespoke gold jewellery worth £500,000 was stolen by a gang of thieves from a home in southeast London, the police said on Thursday. Three men were caught on CCTV entering the property in Bromley through a forced bathroom window while the owners were at home on December 30 last year. Family heirlooms and 'priceless' sentimental items, including a gold tiara, were taken in the raid, which lasted 45 minutes, the Metropolitan Police said. Some of the stolen items had been in the family for generations until thieves forced their way in through a bathroom window Detectives have released pictures of the 'unique' stolen jewellery in the hope that members of the public might recognise the items and come forward. They also include gold necklaces and earrings. Detective Constable Jamie White, of the Met's south area command unit, said: 'While the monetary value of this theft is enormous, the sentimental value is priceless — with many of the pieces being passed down through generations of the family. 'Helpfully, a number of the pieces stolen are unique, so we are hoping that releasing these photographs will jog someone's memory.'

A Russian model known as the 'Bentley Girl' has had her home ransacked as she becomes the latest victim of lawless London. Alla Bruletova, 25, took to Instagram to share an image of the aftermath of the break-in with her 2.6 million followers. It showed a shattered window glass on top of a chest, and a pile of clothes on the floor after a burglar had forced their way into the property. The 5ft 2inch model said a thief broke in, but a passer-by noticed and alerted the police. Taking to Instagram, she said: 'Someone on the street noticed a thief trying to break in through the window and called the cops. 'Shoutout to London police for acting super fast. 'Stay safe, everyone.' In a further post, she added: 'Never expected to be the victim. 'Thank you Metropolitan Police for keeping me safe.' Ms Bruletova was a child gymnast who got into modelling at the age of 13. She dropped out of Vladimir Putin's Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration where she studied journalism, to try her chances in acting and then video blogging. In July 2023 her Bentley video went viral when it amassed 5 million views on the first day, becoming a viral sensation. In the promotional video for a Bentley car at a Russian dealership, she appeared in a hypnotically soft-spoken ASMR‑like commercial for Jet Car dealership. She gently caressed parts of the car — the grille, door handle, steering wheel — whispering the word 'Bentley' in a sultry tone. The influencer has also modelled for major labels around the world and has appeared as a minor character in Russian TV shows Unprincipled and Ivanko. She previously launched her own brand LookForever, but the business has since closed down. Last week, ex-Premier League star Tammy Abraham, who now plays for Besiktas in Turkey, also took to Instagram story to share shocking footage of a burglary at his London home. ITV's latest huge true crime drama to be made in Wales The writer behind Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes and Little Boy Blue, Mrs Biggs and Lucan, Jeff Pope, will pen the four-part drama which sees stars of Slow Horses, Peaky Blinders and Des join the cast (Image: PA) A four-part true crime drama from the writer of renowned series such as Cilla, Little Boy Blue and Disney's recent, Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes will film in Cardiff with a cast full of stars from this country's biggest dramas. Believe Me tells the story of three victims of one of the most prolific sex attackers in British history, John Worboys, dubbed by the media as the 'black cab rapist' after preying on women under the cover of being a 'respectable' licensed taxi-cab driver. Newport's Aimée-Ffion Edwards (Slow Horses, Peaky Blinders, Dreamland, Mr Burton) Miriam Petche (Industry) and Aasiya Shah (Raised by Wolves, Bloods, The Beast Must Die) play the women Worboys sexually assaulted. Daniel Mays takes the role of John Worboys (Des, A Thousand Blows, The Long Shadow, Moonflower Murders). The drama will be filmed in Cardiff and is produced with the support of the Welsh Government via Creative Wales. It's written by Jeff Pope, who is an Academy Award nominated and BAFTA and RTS award winning screenwriter and behind other true crime dramas such as The Walk In, Hatton Garden, A Confession, Little Boy Blue, Mrs Biggs and Lucan and was also Executive Producer for The Reckoning and Appropriate Adult. Welsh actress, Aimee-Ffion Edwards will star London cab driver John Worboys was convicted in 2009 for sexually assaulting twelve women between 2006 and 2008, with their cases selected from a large number of suspected further victims. His modus operandi was to claim that he'd had a win at a casino or on the lottery, then persistently offer women he'd picked up in his cab after a night out a glass of champagne, which he'd laced with drugs, and which rendered his victims unconscious. The drama focuses on the ordeal of two of the women who reported sexual assaults by Worboys, and how the Metropolitan Police failed to thoroughly investigate these women's allegations, leading them to feel that they were just not believed. Believe Me will relate how this left Worboys free to commit assaults undetected for many years. Following his trial came the realisation that he was linked to allegations of further sexual offences against over a hundred women. A familiar face of TV drama, Daniel Mays will play Worboys The two women then joined forces with solicitor Harriet Wistrich and Phillippa Kaufmann QC, and decided to sue the Metropolitan Police under the Human Rights Act for their failure to properly conduct investigations into their allegations of sexual assault, leading to them being subjected to degrading treatment and contributing to their distress. The drama highlights how these women fought against all odds to have their cases heard, whilst looming in the background was Worboys' first parole hearing. Unbelievably, eight years after he was convicted for his crimes, his victims were made to fight again to keep him behind bars. Jeff Pope said of the four-parter: "The series goes on an emotional journey with the victims of Worboys' attacks, showing what happened to them when they reported being raped and assaulted, the pain and indignity of the process and how this de-humanised them. But most shocking of all is how they felt that not being believed by the police and having the attacks recorded, essentially, as non-crimes, was as traumatising for them as the actual assaults.'
