2025 NBA offseason trade tracker, grades: Who won the Desmond Bane trade?
With the conclusion of the NBA Finals comes the start of the trade season, and while a new champion has yet to be crowned, there has already been a shakeup in The Association.
Here are the latest trades in the NBA with grades on the biggest ones from yours truly:
June 15: Magic acquire Desmond Bane
Grizzlies receive: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, four 1st-round picks (2025, 2026, 2028, 2030) and 2029 first-round pick swap

It's no surprise that the Grizzlies were looking to make a big move. Their coach, Taylor Jenkins, was fired with nine games remaining in the season and they went on to get swept out of the first round of the playoffs by the Oklahoma City Thunder, marking the third straight year that they were either eliminated in the opening round or missed the playoffs altogether. This move gives the Grizzlies a lot of flexibility to build around stars Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr.
The Grizzlies acquired a haul of picks and are known to make smart decisions during the draft. Even though they hovered around No. 2 in the West before the All-Star break ,they haven't been able to break through in the crowded West. Now, they have some wiggle room to figure out how to become a contender. Not to mention, Caldwell-Pope and Anthony will give them some increased depth at the wing.
Magic: B
Yes, Orlando gave up A LOT of capital. But they need a player like Bane. They ranked last in the league in 3-point shooting last season. Bane has shot 41 percent from beyond the arc over his five-season career. He's also a skilled offensive creator and a strong defender. While the Magic gave up a massive haul to get Bane, it needs to be pointed out that they kept their young core in Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.
This move gives the Magic a chance to be competitive in the East now. It's a big gamble to give up five first-round picks for a role player, but Bane fills a lot of holes for the Magic, who are clearly looking to make some noise next season.

Smith's comments had some people fired, and it looks as though Antetokounmpo caught wind of what he said. On his Instagram, he posted a tweet that someone made, saying, 'Giannis went from selling sunglasses on a beach in Greece, to a multi-millionaire who won a championship without having to run off and create a super team. He has over-achieved his wildest dreams and anyone who thinks otherwise is ridiculous.' Antetokounmpo put two '100' emojis and a fire emoji above the comment, insinuating that he agrees with what the person was saying. It's hard to discredit what Antetokounmpo has done in his career, because outside of winning one championship, he also has multiple MVPs and a Defensive Player of the Year award. He's one of the best players in the league today, and nobody can take that away from him. After Smith said that he would describe Antetokounmpo as an underachiever if he didn't win another ring, he tried to explain his reasoning. 'He's one of the greatest players to ever play the game,' Smith said. 'Over the last four years, minimum 200 games, Giannis is second in the league with 30.4 points per game, fifth in the league with 11.7 rebounds per game. Nine All-NBA selections in his career, nine All-Star selections, and top-10 in MVP voting nine times. He has more of that than postseason series wins. That's unacceptable. 'You don't look at somebody that dominant, that fantastic, with that kind of fire in his belly to compete on a night-in, night-out basis, and all you have is one championship to show for it. He's got one playoff series win in the last four years. Not fault; he was hurt a couple of times.' Some of the stuff that Antetokounmpo has been through isn't his fault. Though he hasn't had playoff success in the past few years, it's hard not to see the situations he's been in as far as injuries. When he is healthy, Antetokounmpo leaves it all out on the floor. Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Saturday that Kevin Durant wants the Phoenix Suns to trade him to the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs or Houston Rockets. The NBA legend has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. Durant won the 2014 MVP Award with the Thunder and back-to-back titles and Finals MVPs with the Warriors in 2017 and 2018. Spears of ESPN, Durant "wanted" to get traded to the New York Knicks. Advertisement The Knicks, though, were not interested in trading for the NBA icon. New York made the conference finals this year for the first time since 2000, losing to the Indiana Pacers in six games. Tom Thibodeau was fired as head coach, so the Knicks are looking for a new coach right now. Durant and Kyrie Irving chose to sign with the Nets in 2019 instead of the Knicks. Irving and Durant didn't have much success in Brooklyn, as the furthest they went in the playoffs was the second round in 2021. The Knicks made two blockbuster trades last year, acquiring Mikal Bridges from the Nets and Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves. While things can always change, it doesn't appear New York will trade for Durant. The club is looking for their first World Series title since 2016. That comes right from the lips of Chicago's superstar right fielder Kyle Tucker. Tucker believes that Chicago has the highest of ceilings and can do something special this season. For Tucker and the Cubs, this season has always been about finding ways to win and ultimately winning the World Series. "Our goal coming in was to win a World Series," Tucker said. "And, you know, try and come out and play every game hard and try and win every single game. We don't want to just kind of show up and play and go home at the end of the day, and whether we win or lose, not really care. We want to come out and play well and put on a show for these fans and win games for them. I mean, if you don't want to do that, I don't see the point of showing up at the park." Chicago has done exactly that so far this season, as it currently has a 44-26 record and 5 1/2 game division lead headed into a three-game series against the second place Milwaukee Brewers. Tucker has done his part this season, as he has a .277 average, 13 doubles, 13 home runs, 43 RBIs and a .893 OPS. Those numbers are the reason why Tucker has received the most votes of any right fielder in the National League for this season's All-Star game. With continued success from not only Tucker, but the entire Cubs lineup as a whole, Chicago has an excellent chance of making a deep postseason run toward the World Series.
