Former Hillsborough County deputy charged in connection to road rage incident

Brandon Parker, 47, is charged with throwing a deadly missile at or into an occupied conveyance.
On Tuesday, the state asked the judge to set a $7,500 bond, however, the judge set a $3,500 bond.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says on Sunday afternoon, a driver was heading south on Bell Shoals Road when they approached a red light at the intersection of Fish Hawk Boulevard. When the light turned green, the vehicle in front of the victim didn't move, which is when the victim honked her horn to alert the driver of the green light.
Both vehicles continued on Fish Hawk Boulevard when the passenger of the suspect's vehicle started yelling at the victim, according to HCSO. Once they reached a red light at the intersection of Fish Hawk Boulevard and Mosaic Drive, the passenger of the suspect's vehicle threw a bottle at the victim, hitting her in the head.
The other side
"There's two sides to every story and I'm confident when the other side of the story is heard, Mr. Parker will be exonerated from these charges," Parker's attorney Anthony Rickman said.
Parker made a first appearance on Tuesday afternoon, where his attorney argued the probable cause in this case.
"The state must establish that Mr. Parker engaged in a wanton or malicious throwing or hurling of a hard object or stone into a vehicle," Rickman said. "In this case, Mr. Parker is alleged to have thrown a water bottle. An Evian water bottle."
Rickman argued that the water bottle was filled a quarter of the way and that the victim had minor injuries, so it doesn't qualify as a deadly missile.
"We're not talking about a Stanley," Rickman said. "We're not talking about a Yeti. We're talking about an Evian, one of those squishy Evian bottles, in the direction of the vehicle. That is the allegation."

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says Parker was employed from 2003-2016.
The Hillsborough County Public School District says Parker is currently employed as an investigator in its human resources department at one of the district offices.
The district says he's on administrative leave, pending board action.
"Mr. Parker has obviously had a distinguished career with Hillsborough County," Rickman said. "He has served this community his entire life. He has no criminal history."
On Tuesday, the state asked the judge to set a $7,500 bond, however, the judge set a $3,500 bond.
"I do think there's probable cause, but there's going to be some evidentiary issues," the judge said.

Hillsborough County deputies make arrests in shooting that injured teen
The Brief Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office have made arrests in connection with a shooting that injured a teenager on Wednesday. Detectives said they found evidence connected to the shooting inside a bedroom belonging to a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old. A 38-year-old man was also arrested for driving with a suspended license when deputies said they found him driving the vehicle linked to the suspected shooter. PROGRESS VILLAGE, Fla. - Two teenage felons have been arrested in connection with a shooting that injured a teenager on Wednesday. The backstory According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, deputies went to the area of South 81st Street and Fir Drive shortly before 12:40 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies found a teenager suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. When they pulled the vehicle over, deputies said the driver, Antonio House, 38, was taken into custody for driving on a suspended license. Dig deeper A search warrant was executed where House was staying and that's where deputies said they recovered multiple guns. According to HCSO, a Glock .40 caliber handgun recovered from inside the home was ballistically matched to the casings recovered at the scene of the shooting. The HCSO Firearms Laboratory conducted the analysis and confirmed the connection between the gun and the crime scene. Both were taken into custody. The 17-year-old has been charged with felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and resisting an officer without violence. Police eventually arrested Johnson and found no bomb in the vehicle. TAMPA, Fla. - Tampa police say the driver behind an explosives threat that shut down a stretch of Dale Mabry Highway on Thursday evening had fallen asleep behind the wheel and was woken up by officers before he claimed to have a bomb in his car. The backstory The Tampa Police Department says officers responded to the intersection of N. Dale Mabry Hwy. and Columbus Dr. shortly after 6:30 p.m. after getting reports of a sleeping driver impeding the flow of traffic. Police say they found Jeremy Johnson, 30, asleep inside the car, which was still running with the gear in reverse. After officers woke him up, he refused to identify himself or get out of the car, according to TPD. Investigators also say they saw drug paraphernalia "in plain view," which Johnson picked up and smoked out of while still in the car. As officers tried to get Johnson out of the car and into custody, police say he claimed to have a bomb, causing investigators to shut down the southbound lanes of Dale Mabry between Tampa Bay Blvd. and Columbus Dr. TPD says no bomb was found in the car, and Johnson was arrested about 25 minutes after officers first approached him. Travis Decker searched ‘how to relocate to Canada' days before allegedly killing his 3 daughters
Travis Decker was apparently already planning something at least a week before he allegedly killed his three little girls — Googling 'how to relocate to Canada'' and 'jobs Canada,'' according to new court papers. Decker, 32, conducted the online searches and visited the Canadian government's 'Find a job' webpage on Monday, May 26 — several days before he vanished with his daughters, Deputy US Marshal Keegan Stanley wrote in an affidavit. Decker's ex-wife, Whitney Decker, reported their three children — Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5 — missing when their dad failed to bring them home after a scheduled custody visit last Friday. 'Decker is a former military member with training in navigation, woodland/mountainous terrain, long distance movements, survival and numerous other disciplines needed to be able to flee from the Eastern District of Washington,' Stanley wrote. Remote areas throughout the state have since been temporarily closed as multiple agencies continue their manhunt for the triple-slay suspect. Advertisement The Enchantments trail and mountain region will be closed until at least June 18, and campgrounds and trails in parts of the North Cascades National Park and the Pacific Crest Trail have also been shut to visitors, according to authorities. 4 Decker was spotted on a Ring doorbell camera before his three daughters' bodies were discovered. Chelan County Sheriff's Office 'Please know that law enforcement professionals are patrolling at all hours, in all spaces throughout this region,' the Chelan County Sheriff's Office warned residents in nearby Chelan, Kittitas King, Snohomish, and Okanagan counties. 'As law enforcement conducts their searches, we are asking for those owners to lock all of their doors, to include any sheds out outbuildings, and leave their window blinds open and we recommend leaving outside lights on,' the department said in a Facebook post Thursday. Police have warned the public not to try contacting or approaching Decker and do not know if he is armed. A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest.
