Bromley named one of UK's top market towns to visit

Yahoo11-02-2025
Bromley has been named as one of the UK's best market towns with a well-connected market as well as nearby things to do for a day out.
It was named as one of the best by Holiday and travel firm Independent Cottages, and towns are rated on several factors from age, number of museums and listed buildings and the ratings of their main markets on Google.
Bromley came in at number five following Beverley in Yorkshire and was one of other south London areas including Richmond and Kingston-Upon-Thames.
Bromley was described as a 'thriving' market town with plenty of 'traditional market character', as well as having plenty of retail shops and nearby entertainment.
Bromley's market, located on the busy high street, is well situated next to the Glades shopping centre as well as nearby entertainment like parks, a theatre and a cinema.

But aside from the shopping, Bromley also offers plenty of local parks like the popular Norman Park to explore, as well as relaxing villages like Downe, which was once home to Charles Darwin.

The town, which dates to 1158, earned its name from the native yellow Broom flower which was a common site in Bromley and even had a special 'Broom Day' to celebrate it.
Bromley celebrated 'Broom Day' in honour of its namesake up until the year 1939.
These Brooms can still be seen there today at Martin's Hill, which is a two-minute walk along Church Road behind Primark, between mid-April to the end of May.
Bromley is also known for its history, with 430 listed buildings to see including the nearby Old Town Hall, which has since been converted into a hotel and events space.

It's also a great place to visit if you like local businesses, with 1,443 of them, which was another factor that landed Bromley in the top 5 market towns to visit.
One of Bromley's most prime locations to find plenty of independent businesses is Chislehurst, which you can reach by bus from Bromley in 6 minutes, and is home to attractions like Chislehurst Caves which has been featured in TV shows like BBC's Merlin.
The high street is home to a variety of independent shops, restaurants and cafes, with some of our highlights including Bank House restaurant and bar, and Cinnamon Culture – which has an extensive menu that caters to different dietary restrictions.

I tried Google's new AI tool for finding flight deals. It told me how to live affordably inside my favorite movies.

Google's new AI tool is more than willing to help me live out my "Mamma Mia!" fantasies. On Thursday, Google debuted Flight Deals, its AI assistant for travel booking. The tool, which is still in beta, allows users to input general prompts and receive affordable flight plans. After toying with Flight Plans for a few hours, I didn't find anything significantly cheaper than the pre-existing Google Flights. The $514 flight to Rabat, Morocco, was "62% less than usual," Flight Plans told me. But I found about the same price by Googling "flight to Rabat." What's more meaningfully new with Flight Plans, then, is its ability to answer open-ended questions. For travelers looking for a specific activity, Flight Plans could prove beneficial. Ask the tool where to go on a ski trip or on a safari, and it'll find the cheapest option within your parameters. Or, for the cinephiles of the world, you could ask it to place you in your favorite movies. I've always wanted to groove to some ABBA by the Mediterranean Sea, imagining myself alongside Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried. Maybe Flight Plans could place me within " Mamma Mia!" The tool easily handled the prompt, providing me dates and times for reduced-price flights to Kalamata, Heraklion, or Athens. What about " Harry Potter" and its wizarding world? I told Flight Plans I was rewatching the movies; it provided $431 tickets to Edinburgh, where J.K. Rowling wrote the first book. I hope to someday see those famous hills Julie Andrews says are "alive with the sound of music." When I asked Google Flights to get me there, it found $464 tickets to Salzburg. Recently, I strolled down to my local AMC to see the 20th anniversary rerelease of " Brokeback Mountain." The pastoral scenes are so beautiful — and Flight Plans could get me to them via Jackson, WY, for $249. Television also offers ample ground for travel. I loved " The White Lotus" — could Google send me on trips based on seasons one, two, and three? The tool found flights to Kahului, Catania, and Ko Samui. None of these use cases are particularly new or unique to Google's Flight Plans. You could easily do the same with ChatGPT — and people do, with the chatbot becoming a popular tool to assist with travel booking. But, with Google Flights technology integrated, Flight Deals may have some extra perks.

Google Maps SEO in Lowestoft & Suffolk Coast Experts

Whether you're based in Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth, Beccles, or anywhere along the Suffolk coast, appearing in Google's Local Pack (the top 3 business listings shown on the map) can be a game-changer for attracting local customers. When someone searches for your product or service nearby, Google Maps is often their first stop – not just for directions, but to check reviews, compare services, and decide who gets their business. Ranking higher in Google Maps can mean: More phone calls and website visits Increased in-store visits from local shoppers and tourists A stronger reputation in your area Turning more searches into paying customers With competition across Suffolk growing, achieving one of those coveted top spots takes more than just having a business address – it requires strategic local SEO. How a Suffolk & Lowestoft SEO Agency Can Improve Your Map Ranking 1. Google Business Profile (GBP) Optimisation Your GBP is your online shopfront. A local SEO agency can: Claim and verify your listing Add complete, accurate details for each service location (Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth, Beccles, etc.) Choose the most relevant categories Post regular updates, offers, and photos to engage locals and tourists alike Keep your profile consistent with all other online listings 2. NAP (Name, Address, Phone) Consistency Across Locations Google values accurate and consistent details across the web. Your agency will ensure your NAP matches exactly – whether it's on your website, social media, or directories like Yelp, Bing Places, or Suffolk-specific listings. 3. Local Citations for the Suffolk Area Citations (mentions of your business online) from reputable local sites reinforce your authority. Your SEO agency will secure listings across Suffolk directories, tourism websites, and community pages for towns like Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth, and Beccles. 4. Review Management Across Multiple Towns Reviews drive trust – and rankings. A good local SEO partner will help you: Generate more positive reviews from customers in different locations Respond professionally to all feedback Use reviews to strengthen your credibility in every target area 5. Location-Focused Content & On-Page SEO Your website should clearly signal your relevance to Lowestoft and nearby towns. This means: Creating dedicated service pages for each target area Optimising meta tags, headings, and content for local keywords Embedding a Google Map for each physical location Writing blog posts about events, news, and topics relevant to Suffolk residents and visitors 6. Suffolk-Based Backlink Building Getting links from local newspapers, community blogs, and partner businesses strengthens your local authority. A targeted backlink strategy can help you gain visibility not just in Lowestoft, but across the wider Suffolk coast. 7. Ongoing Tracking & Adjustments Google's algorithms change regularly. A professional agency will monitor your keyword rankings, competitor activity, and Map Pack performance – adjusting your strategy so you stay ahead. Why a Local SEO Agency is the Smarter Choice Doing SEO yourself is possible, but it's time-consuming and easy to get wrong. An agency specialising in Lowestoft and the surrounding Suffolk area brings the tools, experience, and local insight needed to rank faster and more effectively. By outsourcing, you can focus on running your business – while experts make sure you're getting found (and chosen) by customers in every town you serve. Win Local Searches in Lowestoft and Beyond Whether your customers are in Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth, Beccles, or exploring the Suffolk coast, appearing in Google's top 3 map results can transform your local visibility. A local SEO agency can make that happen by optimising your profile, building your reputation, and strengthening your local signals – so that when people search, they find you first . Google's new tool can help you find the best flight deals faster

Google announced a new, AI-powered way to search for flights. The new Flight Deals tool is rolling out to U.S. users over the next week. Google's new tool lets users search for flight options using natural language, rather than having to go through the tedium of searching for an endless combination of dates and destinations to find a good deal. "Instead of playing with different dates, destinations and filters to uncover the best deals, you can just describe when, where and how you'd like to travel – as though you're talking to a friend – and Flight Deals will take care of the rest," a statement from Google about the new product said. I tried it out myself by searching for "A long weekend trip to somewhere with good hiking, not departing from Newark for less than $500," since I live in Queens, New York, and Newark Liberty International Airport is inconvenient for me to get to when the other two major airports for the city are so close by. Google came back with a variety of domestic and international destinations that fit my description. "What makes Flight Deals unique is that it uses Google's advanced AI to understand the nuances of what you're looking for and identify matching destinations. Then, it'll tap into real-time Google Flights data to quickly show you relevant, up-to-date options from hundreds of airlines and booking sites," Google's release said. Flight Deals is still in beta testing, but a Google spokesperson told USA TODAY it expects the rollout to be complete in the U.S. in the next week or so, if not sooner.
