Then in July, the unpredictable Gypsy King told a crowd of his fans at an event in BoxPark Wembley that he would return to the ring in 2026.
But Fury - who suffers from bipolar - appears to have already KO'd that idea in what is his latest retirement U-turn.
Asked when he will fight again, he told Sky Sports: "Never. Really! Too old, look at my beard, all grey. Boxing's a young man's game."
Fury was at the Doncaster Racecourse where his three-year-old filly named Big Gypsy King - trained in Oxfordshire by Oliver Cole - was in action.
But she finished dead last out of 11 having sent off a 7-1 shot.
If Fury is truly retired, he opened the door to potentially focusing on a career as a horse race owner.
He said: "Maybe. Who knows?"
It comes as a blow to fans who wanted to see Fury, 36, fight Anthony Joshua, 35, next year.

"I'm not going to be doing any comebacks this year, that's for sure. I'm busy as you can see I've got Netflix here.
"I'm filming At Home With The Furys season two. Come on! And then next year the big GK is going to make a f***ing comeback.
"The takeover! I'm gonna be 37 in about three weeks so I'm going to be the oldest swinger with all these young boys coming up it's going to be difficult.
"But I believe I can put on some very good nights still."

Mikel Arteta offers Viktor Gyokeres verdict after Emirates debut in pre-season defeat to Villarreal - as Gunners boss singles out academy starlet for praise
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has insisted £64million summer signing Viktor Gyokeres will be in a 'very good position' by the time the Premier League season begins after his first pre-season start. The Gunners were beaten 3-2 at home by Villarreal on Wednesday night as the big-money summer signing made his home debut at the Emirates. Gyokeres had limited opportunities to score on his first start for the club, with the Swedish forward playing an hour of the match. His best chance came just before he was substituted, but saw a powerful strike well saved by the Villarreal goalkeeper. The forward had joined Arsenal following a protracted move from Sporting Lisbon, where he had scored 97 goals in 103 matches for the club. With Gyokeres having only a brief cameo in Arsenal's pre-season loss to Tottenham prior to his hour on Wednesday, Arteta insisted the forward will be up to speed by the time the new season starts. 'I think it was very important for him to start a match and start to have the feeling and the connection with the team. 'He's been with us only a week or so, but I really saw a lot of things and a lot of purpose, especially the way he was attacking certain spaces. 'So in general, for a lot of players that haven't played many minutes, we have a lot now that they're going to be ready for Saturday in a much better condition.' 'I hope days, and every day in training I think he's getting a really good feeling. I think he's getting connections as well outside, which I think is really important with players that are going to help him to get in the position that he needs to get in. 'On his fitness level, I think he hasn't trained really with the team for two months, so he's done now six or five sessions I think before today, so I think on Saturday again he will take another step and he will be in a better condition.' Arsenal will face further LaLiga opposition on Saturday when they host Athletic Club in the Emirates Cup, before their Premier League opener away at Man United on August 17. The Gunners will hope to have Kai Havertz available again after he missed the defeat by Villarreal with a minor injury. Arteta also offered praised to 15-year-old academy star Max Dowman for his 'incredible' attacking contributions after another eye-catching pre-season performance. With Arsenal trailing 3-1, Dowman showed quick feet to fool a Villareal defender and induce a foul, resulting in the Gunners being awarded a penatly. Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard acknowledged Dowman's contribution after scoring the penalty to reduce the deficit. It was the second penalty Dowman has won in pre-season after help Arsenal win 3-2 against Newcastle on their tour of Asia. The highly-rated youngster also drew the attention of home fans were several darting runs and crosses in the latter stages of the friendly against Villarreal. Arteta praised the youngster and admitted that despite his young age he will continue to deserve chances if he continues to make an impact from the bench. 'Max (Dowman) is moving so fast - even last year when he was training with us, he was doing these kind of things and now he is doing them in the games,' Arteta said. 'The efficiency he shows in every attacking action is incredible. He deserves to have chances and if he continues like this let's see what happens. When asked whether Dowman could be involved in the Premier League, Arteta added 'Let's see how it goes, let's go into Saturday, into the break as well. 'He needs a little break as well because he hasn't had any holidays really, so in the next few days he's going to have a break which I think he needs and then he'll probably be ready again to go.'

Call The Midwife star Helen George goes public with new boyfriend Dan Innes at Good Night, Oscar press night - after meeting 'on notorious celebrity dating app'
Helen George and her new boyfriend Dan Innes made their first public appearance as a couple while attending the Good Night, Oscar press night at London's Barbican Theatre on Wednesday evening. The Call the Midwife star, 41, was hand-in-hand with Dan, who is 10 years her senior - as they ventured out in the English capital, four months after confirming the romance. Helen looked incredible in a black lace minidress with a plunging neckline and delicate lace detailing after arriving to watch the new play, which includes former Will & Grace star Sean Hayes among its cast. She elevated her height with a pair of pointed black court heels and toted her essentials in a stud-embellished black clutch. Meanwhile, Dan looked dapper in a grey suit teamed with a light blue shirt as he beamed alongside the actress. The divorced father-of-two looked smitten, unable to take his eyes off Helen as the couple made their way into the venue. Also spotted at the star-studded event were Bruno Tonioli, Edgar Wright, Vanessa Feltz, Simon Callow, Laura Carmichael, and Richard E. Grant. TV favourite Bruno, 69, made a bold statement in a black paisley print shirt, which he wore open for a relaxed look. Actor Richard, 68, opted for a smart-casual style in a black blazer, white shirt, and black pinstripe trousers. Laura, 39, looked effortlessly chic in a flowing black dress with off-the-shoulder straps. Vanessa, 63, turned heads in a vibrant yellow floral lace dress as she smiled for the cameras. Director Edgar, 51, kept it classic in a black three-piece suit as he arrived at the theatre. The newest play to hit Broadway stars Will & Grace alum Sean Hayes, and was written by Doug Wright and directed by Lisa Peterson. The play takes place in 1958, and follows the character and star, Oscar Levant, who appears on a late-night talk show hosted by the character of Jack Paar. According to the official website, the premise follows Oscar, who 'will prove just that when he appears live on national TV in an episode that Paar's audience—and the rest of America—won't soon forget.' Helen's outing comes after she shared loved-up Instagram snaps of the pair earlier this year. The Call The Midwife star confirmed her romance with Dan is going from strength to strength after they spent Easter together. Helen reportedly started dating Dan in January. It is believed they met on celebrity dating app Raya. The pair looked happier than ever as they posed arm in arm for a photo with friends, before sharing several snaps with her children on holiday. She captioned her post: 'A beautiful start to spring. Waters near and far.. from The Thames to Tenerife. Easter moments with friends, family and finally some vitamin D (and Rosé)' Helen shares two daughters, Wren Ivy and Lark, with her ex-partner of seven years, Jack Ashton, whom she split from in 2023. The actress was previously linked with her Call The Midwife co-star Olly Rix, who played her onscreen husband Matthew Aylward. They reportedly grew close following splits from their respective long-term partners. Olly had separated from his make-up artist girlfriend Natasha Fagri, whom he had been dating since 2016. In November 2023, she was snapped leaving Olly's home, which sparked rumours of a growing connection between the pair - but they have since unfollowed each other on Instagram. However, Helen and Olly drifted apart, and after joining Raya in a bid to find love, she is now dating the property marketing agency boss. According to Dan's LinkedIn profile, he has worked in real estate for more than 25 years, and his specialist skill is that 'he sees the bigger property picture - which now activity embraces technology'. Dan split up from the mother of his two children, who are 14 and 12, Kate Wetten, in 2016. They married in 2008.
