Raducanu crashes out in straight sets in Montreal
Raducanu had won both of their previous meetings, but rarely looked like extending that run as she held her serve just once in either set.
Wimbledon finalist Anisimova came from 40-15 down to break Raducanu's serve in the second game of the match and, although the British No1 broke back immediately, she was unable to fashion another break point in the contest.
Anisimova broke again to make it 3-1 and added a third break to wrap up the set.
Her dominance continued in the second set as Raducanu won just eight points on her own serve, avoiding the whitewash after losing the first five games before Anisimova served out for a place in the fourth round.
She will face 10th seed Elina Svitolina or Anna Kalinskaya in the last 16.
Meanwhile, Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek needed little more than an hour to complete a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Germany's Eva Lys, and Jessica Pegula's bid for a third straight Montreal title was ended by world number 386 Anastasija Sevastova.
The Latvian, a former world No11 who has had lengthy spells out on maternity leave and with a torn ACL, beat the third seed 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Novak Djokovic has pulled out of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati, the final warm-up tournament before the US Open. A lack of match sharpness has not been a major issue for him this season so far: Djokovic did not play between reaching the semi-finals at the French Open, when he also lost to Sinner, and Wimbledon, but produced a fine run to make the last four again. The 38-year-old said after his exit at Wimbledon, 'It's just age, the wear and tear of the body. As much as I'm taking care of it, the reality hits me right now. 'It's tough for me to accept that because I feel like, when I'm fresh, when I'm fit, I can still play really good tennis. I've proven that this year. But I guess playing best-of-five, particularly this year, has been a real struggle for me physically. 'The longer the tournament goes, the worse the condition gets. I feel like I'm going into the match with the tank half empty. It's just not possible to win a match like that.' He has not won a grand slam since the 2023 US Open, with Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz winning the last seven majors between them. August 4 - The Minnesota Twins placed right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson on the injured list Monday because of an illness and recalled right-hander Darren McCaughan from Triple-A St. Paul. Woods Richardson, 24, is 5-4 with a 4.24 ERA in 17 appearances (16 starts) with the Twins this season. In four seasons with Minnesota, he is 10-10 with a 4.30 ERA in 47 career appearances (45 starts). McCaughan, 29, had a 1.69 ERA in three appearances with the Twins earlier this season. Ally Watt becomes first Denver Summit FC player after trade
August 4 - Denver Summit FC will not make its NWSL debut until next season, but the new franchise has its first player after acquiring forward Ally Watt from the Orlando Pride, ESPN reported Monday. Watt will not depart Orlando immediately since her new club loaned her back to the Pride after the transaction became official. Orlando received $75,000 in expansion allocation money, $37,500 in transfer funds and salary cap relief in return, according to the report.
