Investigators previously described how they believed the couple died days apart, and due to Hackman's advanced Alzheimer's, it is possible he did not know his wife was dead.
Heartbreaking surveillance footage was also found to have captured the final movements of Gene Hackman's wife Betsy Arakawa weeks before the couple's mummified bodies were found on their sprawling New Mexico estate.
Two weeks before investigators stumbled upon the grim findings, Arakawa was captured on video keeping herself busy and running errands.
Surveillance footage showed Arakawa at a Sprouts Grocery Market self-checkout, purchasing groceries at around 4 pm on February 11.

Arakawa is captured on video wearing blue jeans, a dark coat, a scarf, and a black face mask.
Minutes later, Arakawa was seen on video stopping by Shine Pet Food store.
The surveillance videos showed Arakawa was unaccompanied as she entered and exited the businesses without any glaring health ailments.
The videos were part of a trove of documents released by the Santa Fe Sheriff's Office on Tuesday as part of their investigation into the deaths of Hackman and Arakawa.

HARROWING FIND
Bodycam footage released by the Santa Fe Sheriff's Office showed the moment responding deputies arrived at the puzzling scene, where one of the couple's German Shepherd dogs was guarding Arakawa's body.

"Poor guy, he's sad," one of the investigators can be heard saying.
A separate video showed the moment investigators find Hackman's body in a separate section of the property.
"Two totally separate areas of the house," a deputy is heard saying, as another responds, "Mhm, it's strange."
One of the couple's three dogs was also found dead in a crate in a bathroom closet near where Arakawa's body was found.

The other two dogs were alive as one is heard barking in the background.
The video also showed deputies going through the rooms of the estate, checking for any signs of forced entry or foul play.
Investigators were seen counting cash that was found around the home, looking at prescription medication on one of the bathroom counters, and check the kitchen's stove after any potential gas leak.
The leak concerns lead investigators to begin opening doors and windows around the house.

More than 100 MPs sign open letter backing Philomena's Law
More than 100 MPs and Peers in Westminster have signed an open letter backing legislation to help UK based survivors of Irish mother-and-baby homes access compensation. It comes ahead of the first Westminster debate on 'Philomena's Law' this afternoon. The legislation has been named after Philomena Lee, a mother and baby home survivor, whose story about her son being forcibly adopted was chronicled in the Oscar nominated film "Philomena". It's estimated that around 13,000 people living in the UK are mother and baby home survivors, however many risk losing their means-tested benefits if they avail of compensation under the Irish Mother and Baby Institution payments scheme. "Philomena's Law" was first introduced to the House of Commons by the chair of the UK Labour Party's Irish Society, Liam Conlon MP. "Our campaign has also been about shining a light on the Mother and Baby Institutions Payment Scheme itself. Uptake is incredibly low in Britain and we want to ensure that every eligible survivor knows about it and feels empowered to apply", he explained. The actor Steve Coogan, who starred in the film 'Philomena' has also expressed his support for the legislation. "Liam is doing fantastic work to raise awareness of this important issue and I'm backing 'Philomena's Law' to help him ensure that all survivors get the compensation they are rightfully due", he said. Irish actor and star of Derry Girls Siobhán McSweeney said that she "wholeheartedly" supports Philomena's Law, adding that "this legislation is a crucial step towards justice and dignity for those who have suffered in silence for far too long." The open letter has been signed by politicians from a number of parties, including Labour, DUP, UUP, SDLP, SNP, Sinn Féin, Liberal Democrats and Alliance. It states that: "This complicated and stressful situation is putting undue pressure on survivors who are currently making applications to the payment scheme, forcing them to revisit their most traumatic experiences as they weigh up the cost of accepting compensation."

Colombian presidential hopeful in critical condition after assassination attempt
Miguel Uribe, a conservative Colombian presidential hopeful, was in a critical condition on Monday after being shot in the head from close range during a rally at the weekend. In a statement, doctors said the 39-year-old senator had 'barely' responded to medical interventions, which included brain surgery, following the assassination attempt that has had a chilling effect on the South American nation. Mr Uribe was shot on Saturday as he addressed a small crowd of people who had gathered in a park in Bogota's Modelia neighbourhood. People hold candles as they gather outside the clinic where Colombian senator Miguel Uribe Turbay is being treated (Ivan Valencia/AP) Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital where Mr Uribe is being treated on Sunday to pray for his recovery. Some carried rosaries in their hands, while others chanted slogans against President Gustavo Petro. 'This is terrible,' said Walter Jimenez, a lawyer who showed up outside the hospital, with a sign calling for Mr Petro's removal. 'It feels like we are going back to the 1990s,' he said, referring to a decade during which drug cartels and rebel groups murdered judges, presidential candidates and journalists with impunity. Mr Petro has condemned the attack and urged his opponents not to use it for political ends. But some Colombians have also asked the president to tone down his rhetoric against opposition leaders. The assassination attempt has stunned the nation, with many politicians describing it as the latest sign of how security has deteriorated in Colombia, where the government is struggling to control violence in rural and urban areas, despite a 2016 peace deal with the nation's largest rebel group. The attack on Mr Uribe comes amid growing animosity between Mr Petro and the senate over blocked reforms to the nation's labour laws. Nuns arrive to the clinic where Colombian senator Miguel Uribe Turbay is being treated (Ivan Valencia/AP) Mr Petro has organised protests in favour of the reforms, where he has delivered fiery speeches referring to opposition leaders as 'oligarchs' and 'enemies of the people'. 'There is no way to argue that the president… who describes his opponents as enemies of the people, paramilitaries and assassins has no responsibility in this,' Andres Mejia, a prominent political analyst, wrote on X. The attorney general's office said a 15-year-old boy was arrested at the scene of the attack against Mr Uribe. Videos captured on social media show a suspect shooting at Mr Uribe from close range. The suspect was injured in the leg and was recovering at another clinic, authorities said. Defence minister Pedro Sanchez added that over 100 officers are investigating the attack. On Monday, Colombia's attorney general Luz Adriana Camargo said that minors in Colombia face sentences of up to eight years in detention for committing murders. Ms Camargo acknowledged that lenient sentences have encouraged armed groups to recruit minors to commit crimes. However, she said that Colombian law also considers that minors who are recruited by armed groups are victims, and is trying to protect them. 'As a society we need to reflect on why a minor is getting caught up in a network of assassins, and what we can do to stop this from happening in the future,' she said.
