Chilling footage appears to show Ross Judd carrying a stake outside a Bunnings hours before he allegedly killed pregnant woman and her partner in Melbourne

Footage appears to show an alleged double murderer carrying a sharp metal pole just hours before he allegedly killed a pregnant woman and her partner, before putting his decapitated head on a spike.
Ross Judd, 34, was arrested after Athena Georgopoulos, 39, who was five months pregnant at the time of her death, and Andrew ''Morph'' Gunn, 50, were found dead inside their unit in Mount Waverley in Melbourne's south-east on Monday night.
Judd, a homeless man, has been charged with counts of two counts of murder over what Victoria Police will allege was a targeted attack at the couple's home.
Vision has since emerged that appears to show Judd walking outside a Bunnings Warehouse accompanied by two large dogs while carrying a spike and a jerry can about 8pm on Monday.
The Bunnings, on Ferntree Gully Rd in Notting Hill, is just over a kilometre from where the bodies of Ms Georgopoulos and Mr Gunn were discovered on Adrienne Crescent in Mount Waverley around two hours later.
The Herald Sun has reported that police are investigating the footage believed to be of the alleged killer.
A Victoria Police spokesperson told SkyNews.com.au on Friday that police will not be commenting on the footage as the matter is now before the court.
The discovery of the dead couple of Monday shocked the Melbourne community where they lived, with neighbour Ben Scott Sandvik saying "no one should have to come across what I saw down there" after he found the pair.
Locals reported Mr Gunn's German Shepherd was always by his side and "very protective" of him.
Police are investigating whether the alleged murders were triggered by an argument between Mr Gunn and Judd over the sale of dogs.
Judd was remanded in custody after facing court on Wednesday, with prosecutors requesting an additional 10 weeks to prepare a brief of evidence due to the ''complex'' nature of the case.
Judd entered court with two guards by his side as he stumbled and muttered: 'I beg your pardon, yeah I'm all good'.
Footage of Ms Georgopoulos and Mr Gunn's unit after there bodies were found showed the house graffitied with messages including, "U R Gay", "Enough is Enough", "Betrayal", and 'Karma is not a menu".

Queensland Police officer blasts kids accused of youth crime

A police officer has given a severe tongue-lashing to a group of teenagers accused of stealing a car and breaking into homes in Far North Queensland. The state's police service released dramatic body cam footage of a dog squad cop chasing down the juveniles with his German Shepherd at a school on August 12. The dog helped track the group down who allegedly fled to the top of a roof. 'Get down, show us your hands,' the police officer shouted. 'Get down off the roof now. You're all under arrest.' The trio proceed to slowly lower themselves one by one from the top of a school building and ordered to lay down on the group. The police dog could be heard barking at the group. 'Guys, guess what? You are under arrest for unlawful use of a motor vehicle. It means you're stealing cars,' the cop told the kids. 'The community is sick of you. They're sick of your dangerous driving, they're sick of you breaking into their homes. Had enough.' The trio were charged with a total of 16 offences, police said. There were at least five other arrests on the same day and on August 14 involving teens. A 13-year-old Maroochydore boy was charged with one count each of robbery, possess tainted property and obstructing police. While a 16-year-old boy from Manoora was charged with two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle and one count of obstructing police. Elsewhere, a Cairns teen was hit with four charges of unlawful use of motor vehicle and two counts of enter property with intent and one of robbery. A 15-year-old boy was slapped with 16 property-related offence charges after being found on the roof of a home on August 14. Queensland Police Service said its officers in the region were 'ramping up' efforts to detect, deter and disrupt crime. 'The QPS' borderless policing posture allows resources to be shared between districts and commands, to conduct targeted, intelligence-driven activities,' it said on Monday. 'These activities will include both covert and overt strategies, and high-visibility patrols in hotspot areas including the Cairns CBD, shopping centres and public transport.' Far North District Officer Chief Superintendent Kevin Fitzgibbon stressed the safety of the community is priority. 'The results from the first week of this enforcement show we're moving in the right direction, and we'll continue this action to protect vulnerable Queenslanders and tackle serious offenders,' he said. 'We are continuing to adapt to the community's needs and our officers are working relentlessly to hold offenders accountable. 'We're grateful for the ongoing support from the community in assisting us in driving down offending, and they can be assured our efforts to keep them safe will never wane.'

'Never seen anything like this': Father stabbed in head and face after being separated from wife and kids during brutal Melbourne home invasion

A father has been left with serious injuries after he was stabbed in the head and face during a brutal home invasion in the early hours of Sunday morning. The 39-year-old man and his 34-year-old wife were asleep in their Kew East home when they were awoken at about 4am by the sound of a large window being smashed. A group of five unknown offenders – one armed with a machete – allegedly entered the Oxford Street property and confronted the couple, separating them into different rooms. 'The woman was put into the room where her two children were still in bed,' Victoria Police said in a statement. 'The husband was then stabbed multiple times to the head, face and arms.' Four of the intruders then got into the victim's BMW while a fifth left in the vehicle the group had arrived in. The 39-year old man was transported to hospital with serious but non but non-life-threatening injuries while his wife was treated at the house for minor injuries. The couple's two children, aged 2 and 3, were not physically injured. However two grandparents, aged 69 and 70, who were also in the house at the time were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A fifth adult at the property also escaped physical injury. Boroondara Detective Sergeant Leanne Trussler expressed her shock when speaking to reporters on Sunday. 'I've never seen anything like this,' Detective Trussler said. 'This is awful, a family, two adults, two children aged 2 and 3 and the grandparents are sleeping their home at nearly 4 o'clock in the morning, the house is secure, they're meant to be safe, and they woken up and been treated like this. 'It's their home, or their castle, as they say. You should be safe, you shouldn't be disrespected in your home and having people come in at that time of night and doing that to your family. The Herald Sun reported that the father had 'put up a fight' when he found the intruders, and the grandparents were harmed when they attempted to come to his aid. The Victoria Police spokeswoman said the 39-year-old father was currently in and would need surgery. 'He has a fractured left arm, he has a number of cuts all over his face and he is going to need surgery on his eye,' Detective Trussler said. 'The grandparents have also been assessed by doctors and released.' Victoria Police located the stolen BMW approximately 30 km away in Deer Park and three offenders were arrested a short time later in nearby Hamilton Street. Among those arrested were two teens, aged 16 and 17, and a 24-year-old Caroline Springs man. Police are continuing to search for the other offenders. Anyone who witnessed the incident, has CCTV/dashcam footage or any information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at

Chilling new evidence in harrowing ‘Mr Cruel' investigation

Fresh details have emerged in the decades long hunt for 'Mr Cruel', the predator behind a series of shocking child rapes and the suspected murder of Melbourne schoolgirl Karmein Chan. A police insider has revealed new details in the over 30-year hunt for 'Mr Cruel', the notorious child rapist and suspected murderer who terrorised the suburbs of Melbourne. Associate Professor David Wells, who was a forensic physician with Victoria Police at the time of the attacks, told the Crime Insiders podcast he had personally collected crucial genetic evidence that could still be the key to unmasking Mr Cruel's true identity. He also shared a chilling theory that Mr Cruel may have been a police or forensics expert. Another clue David shared with the podcast was that Mr Cruel may have been living with a back injury, given the way he moved and positioned his victims. Mr Cruel was infamous for leaving almost no forensic trace. 'He either held these children or washed them repeatedly so that any, for instance, trace DNA would be removed from their skin,' Wells said. Wells told host Dr Liz Porter the meticulous cleanups pointed to a disturbing possibility. 'It got us thinking a little bit, is it one of us?' 'The level of sophistication of removing this evidence was such that it smacked of that.' Wells says he still managed to find a genetic clue that could be the key to cracking the case. 'It's something that might allow his genetic make-up to be identified need someone to compare it with first,' Wells said. In a shocking new theory, police also suspect the serial child rapist may have suffered a back injury, based on how he moved and positioned his victims. Investigators even contacted the Medical Board, asking whether any doctors had patients matching the offender's description. 'This is a new area because you're asking doctors to divulge confidential argument is providing this information is likely to result in prevention of further very, very damaging acts of behaviour and although it might breach the confidentiality it is justified for the greater need of the public,' Wells said. According to Wells, the medical profession was very supportive, and 'a considerable number' of people were reviewed. In one eerie twist, Wells recalled being in a taxi when the driver used a phrase identical to one Mr Cruel was known for. He immediately alerted investigators. 'They rang me a couple of days later and said... we knocked on his [the taxi drivers] door and he said he immediately started sweating, became very agitated, so we took him back to the police station and interviewed him,' 'He had a very strong in the questioning process, he did admit to offences against children.' Although he wasn't Mr Cruel, the taxi driver was charged and convicted. In a rare glimpse behind the case's emotional toll, Wells recalled reuniting one young survivor with her family after she'd been missing for days, and who they believed to be dead. 'Everyone was in tears, myself included,' he said. 'They're one of the little highs you get. There's not a lot in this job.' As for whether Mr Cruel will ever be unmasked, Wells is uncertain. 'He may have stopped this behaviour which...I don't know that he would.' 'He may have died, he may have moved to another region or he may be incapacitated in some way. But it's certainly a series of crimes that really did damage the innocence of a lot of people's lives.' The investigation remains active. In April 2016, on the 25th anniversary of Karmein Chan's abduction and murder, Victoria Police increased the reward for information from $100,000 to $1 million.
