Harvey Weinstein Admits His Actions Were ‘Stupid' but ‘Never Criminal' in Rare Interview Amid Retrial
Harvey Weinstein said his actions were 'stupid' and 'immoral' but 'never criminal' or illegal in a phone interview with Fox 5's 'Good Day New York' on Friday.
The producer gave the interview while he waits on the verdict in a rape and sexual assault retrial in Manhattan. Weinstein, when asked by Rosanna Scotto if he had any regrets about his actions, admitted he feels bad for his family and friends, but insisted he has done nothing to warrant being locked up.
'I have regrets that I put my family through this, that I put my wife through this, acted immorally, you know,' he shared. 'I put so many friends through this … hurt people that were close to me by actions that were stupid, but never illegal, never criminal.'
Weinstein also said his health is 'not good' and that his 'list of ailments [is] longer than an encyclopedia,' including spinal stenosis and bone marrow cancer. However, he said he is compelled to clear his name for both himself and his family.
'I have to fight,' Weinstein said. 'I have to, you know, I have to live for my children. I have to do that.'
Weinstein's Friday interview came just two days after a panel of seven women and five men began deliberating his fate, as New York prosecutors wrapped their rape and sexual assault case. The jury's verdict could definitively decide whether he spends the rest of his life in prison.
A not-guilty verdict would automatically send Weinstein back to California, where he was convicted on three counts of sexual assault in December 2022 and sentenced to 16 years. That verdict is under an appeal of the same nature that got his 2022 New York conviction thrown out, sparking the Manhattan retrial.
But a guilty verdict would likely mean that the now-73-year-old Weinstein, who has repeatedly complained of dire health problems at the notorious Rikers Island prison, will die in prison. The California sentence is to be served consecutively — only after a potential New York sentence is expired.
When asked by Scotto on Friday what he thought of the women who have testified against him, Weinstein said they are driven by money. The producer noted his attorney in the retrial, Arthur L. Aidala, has 'said they have 4 million reasons to testify, as in dollars.'

Jewish organizations, synagogues withdraw from San Diego Pride
SAN DIEGO (FOX5/KUSI)–Jewish organizations and synagogues are choosing not to participate in San Diego Pride because of one of the festival's headline performers. Jewish synagogues and leaders said they decided not to participate after San Diego Pride failed to remove Kehlani as a headliner, despite a coalition of Jewish leaders sharing its concerns about Kehlani's participation in May. In the past, Kehlani has made comments against Israel and zionists and opened a music video with language that the San Diego Jewish community said could lead to direct harm. 'I have no objection to her supporting the Palestinian people. I do have an objection to her saying, 'long live the antifada,' which is dangerous,' said Lilian Faderman, congregant at Temple Emanu-El and LGBTQ historian. 'If people are ignited to violence we see what happens. We see what happened in Washington, D.C., with the murder of that beautiful couple. We see what happened in Colorado,' Faderman said. Several Jewish synagogues and organizations are now saying they will no longer participate in San Diego Pride due to safety concerns. Temple Emanu-el's senior rabbi, Devorah Marcus, and the president and ceo of the Jewish Federation of San Diego, Heidi Gantwerk, are a part of the Finest Community Coalition, which started earlier this year to combat antisemitism. The coalition said it reached out to San Diego Pride, but changes have not been made to the lineup. 'This is a really painful loss for people in our community who have spent years participating with great joy and pride. Many people in the Jewish community really enjoy being a part of Pride and this hurts,' said Heidi Gantwerk, President and CEO of the Jewish Federation of San Diego. Rabbi Marcus and Gantwerk said the Jewish community will still celebrate Pride in their own way with a community Shabbat and a brunch. Meanwhile, it still hurts Faderman to know she won't be able to be at San Diego Pride. 'It's really sad to me that the San Diego Pride didn't understand the needs of the community,' Faderman said. Border Patrol seizes 104 lbs. of cocaine found in hidden compartment
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego Border Patrol agents found and seized over 100 pounds of cocaine after an SUV went through an immigration checkpoint in Southern California on Wednesday. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a K-9 helped lead Border Patrol agents to find 40 bundles of cocaine in the roof of a vehicle that went through Border Patrol's I-15 North immigration checkpoint in Temecula. CBP reports a silver SUV was stopped by Newton-Azrak Station Border Patrol agents at 1:50 p.m. on June 4. After a brief interview, Border Patrol agents brought out a K-9, which alerted them to the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle resulted in agents finding 40 bundles, which totaled 104 pounds of cocaine, in the roof in an added motorized compartment. The street value is estimated to be around $708,000. The person driving the vehicle, only identified as a U.S. citizen, was detained by Homeland Security Investigations, which also seized the cocaine. Border Patrol seized the vehicle. The suspect is facing federal charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute. 'Drug smugglers are often resourceful, but our dedicated agents are always watching,' said San Diego Acting Chief Patrol Agent Jeffrey D. Stalnaker. 'Our agents are the best of the best, and we remain resolute in our mission to keep communities safe.' This fiscal year, San Diego Sector has seized 2,356 pounds of methamphetamine, 2,587 pounds of cocaine, 250 pounds of fentanyl, and 56 pounds of heroin.
