Cong to allocate districts to PCC observers today
Hyderabad: The Congress party will be formally allocating each district to a State observer who is already identified. Out of the 33 districts, training for close to 20 of these observers will begin from Wednesday. Aimed at strengthening the party from grassroots, the campaign is part of the 'Sanghatan Srujan Abhiyan'.
According to party sources, the meeting being attended by PCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud and AICC Telangana incharge Meenakshi Natarajan will give direction to the observers about their responsibilities in their designated districts. In wake of the impending local body polls, the districts which are being prioritised will be those where there is dire need of strengthening of cadre and where the party stands vulnerable to rivals. 'I have been invited to attend as State observer for the training session tomorrow at Indira Bhavan. They are yet to allocate districts to any of the observers and I believe the initially list of observers may contain around 20 names, while the remaining may be allocated later. The priority I believe will be given to districts where it stands weak,' said one of the observers.
The decision to appoint observers was taken on April 17. Based on the reports of these observers the party will appoint the presidents at different levels including district and also mandal. This is on the lines of Gujarat and as part of the 'Sanghatan Srujan Abhiyan'.
PAC meeting in presence of AICC general secretary Randeep Surjewala
The PCC will also be holding a PAC (Political Affairs Committee) meeting on Wednesday in presence of AICC general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala. This meeting will be attended by DCC presidents, members of PAC, Ministers besides AICC State incharge and PCC president. The PAC meeting will primary focus to assuage the differences within the party leadership, apart from chalking out strategies for winning the upcoming polls including GHMC and local body polls.

After the meeting, senior Congress leader Kamal Nath stated, 'There was enthusiasm among all the Congress workers -- this is proof that the Congress is strong and all theses (workers) believe in Rahul Gandhi. He explained all the details about how the party will be rejuvenated and AICC appointed observers will engage with everyone to ensure that the right District Congress Committees are formed.' Congress MLA Jaivardhan Singh, son of senior leader Digvijaya Singh, described the campaign as a mission to build grassroots leadership across the state. 'The message is very clear, 'Sangathan Srijan' is a mission through which observers have been appointed from AICC and their sole responsibility will be to visit districts and bring in new people, especially from major towns. The focus is on preparing strong leaders -- horses for the long race -- and making them active through this mission,' Singh told ANI. He further thanked Rahul Gandhi for investing time in Madhya Pradesh Congress and expressed confidence that the initiative would significantly strengthen the party in the state. Additionally, Congress leader Sajjan Singh Verma added that Rahul Gandhi's Bhopal visit was entirely focused on internal party matters and leadership renewal. 'Rahul Gandhi's visit to Bhopal today was entirely focused on party affairs and party rejuvenation. His speech made it clear that from now on, District Presidents will not be appointed based on recommendations. Instead, strong and capable individuals will be elected -- those who will have the authority to distribute tickets for the councillor, Assembly, and Lok Sabha elections. He blew the bugle with the slogan "eibar juj hobo," meaning there will be a battle this time. After seeking blessings at the revered Batadrava Than in Nagaon on Monday, Gaurav headed towards Guwahati to assume charge as state PCC chief. On Tuesday morning, he offered prayers at Kamakhya Temple with some of the senior party leaders before embarking on his new political journey with new challenges. A three-time Lok Sabha MP, Gaurav is the son of former CM Tarun Gogoi and a loyalist of the Gandhi family. "Congress is coming, and no one can resist. Eibar juj hobo (there will be a fight this time)," Gaurav told party workers at a meeting held at Manabendra Sarma Complex soon after he took charge of the post of Assam PCC chief Bhupen Kumar Borah. Kanpur: A peace committee meeting was held at the Babupurwa police station under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner of police (South), Dipendra Nath Chaudhary regarding celebration of the upcoming Jyeshtha Ganga Dussehra and Bakrid festivals in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. Representatives of various religions, corporators, social workers, and police officers were present at the meeting. Apart from providing necessary guidelines, the officials made an appeal for cooperation from all religions to maintain a peaceful environment. The officials said that no prayers should be conducted on the streets, and that prior information and mutual coordination for religious events are mandatory. Emphasis was laid on better traffic management arrangements, including deployment of additional police forces, female police officers, and PAC at key locations.
