Shrine constructed on PWD land demolished in Farrukhabad
Bhola, a resident of Sota Bahadurpur village, along with unidentified accomplices, allegedly occupied a permanent platform constructed on the land belonging to PWD's warehouse on the banks of the Ganga and placed green tiles on it, transforming it into a shrine.
Executive engineer of PWD, Murli Dhar, filed a report at the Kadri Gate police station stating that this act has not only damaged a govt property but also posed a threat to communal harmony and law and order.
Authorities filed a case against the accused for illegally occupying govt property and disrupting communal harmony.
The illegally constructed shrine was demolished by the administration using a bulldozer recently in the presence of police force. The shrine was allegedly constructed overnight.
SDM Sadar Rajnikant Pandey stated that he received an information about a shrine constructed overnight on a govt land.

ASP Sanjay Kumar said that based on a complaint by the executive engineer of the PWD Provincial Division, a report has been filed against Bhola, son of Sharafat from Sota Bahadurpur, and his unidentified associates for occupying govt land and disturbing communal harmony, among other charges.

US Again Claims It Stopped India-Pak War Using "Trade Leverage"
New Delhi: White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Tuesday once again claimed that US President Donald Trump has ended the military conflict between India and Pakistan. "The President is using the might of American strength to demand that respect from our allies, our friends, our adversaries all around the world," Leavitt said at a press briefing. She said that it was seen not only in the progress with Russia and Ukraine but also "in the closing of seven global conflicts around the world." "We've seen it with the end of the conflict between India and Pakistan, which could have resulted in a nuclear war if we had not had a President who believed in the strength and the leverage that comes with the job of being the President of the United States of America," Leavitt said. In an answer to another question, Leavitt said that Trump used trade "in a very powerful way as leverage" to bring the India-Pakistan conflict to an end. Since May 10, when Trump announced on social media that India and Pakistan had agreed to a "full and immediate" ceasefire after a "long night" of talks mediated by Washington, he has repeated his claim over 40 times that he "helped settle" the tensions between India and Pakistan. India has been consistently maintaining that the understanding on cessation of hostilities with Pakistan was reached following direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of the two militaries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said in Parliament that no leader of any country asked India to stop Operation Sindoor. Meanwhile, replying to one more question, Leavitt said that Trump has imposed sanctions on India to bring an end to the Russia-Ukraine war. "The President has put tremendous public pressure to bring this war to a close. He has taken actions as you seen sanctions on India and other actions as well. He has made himself very clear that he wants to see this war end," she added. Earlier in an interview to CNBC, US treasury secretary Scott Bessent also accused India of "profiteering" by reselling Russian oil. US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs totalling 50 per cent on India including 25 per cent for New Delhi's purchases of Russian oil that will come into effect from August 27. India has called the tariffs "unjustified and unreasonable". India said that, like any major economy, it will take all necessary measures to safeguard its national interests and economic security.

Minneapolis (Minnesota), Aug. 19: President Ford said to-day he will ask Congress for an additional $ two to three billions for nuclear weapons unless the Soviet Union helps shape a strategic arms agreement. Mr. Ford also warned that the Soviets could endanger detente by interfering in Portugal to support the communist-backed military Government there. He defended American warmth toward the Soviet Government but he also declared the U.S. must be Number 1 in military might in an address prepared for the American Legion National Convention here. 'I hope we are on a two-way street with the Soviet Union,' Mr. Ford said. But he said that potential adversaries are not reducing the levels of their military power and 'the United States must be alert and strong.' He said that the $92.8 billions including $9.8 billions for nuclear arms, in the Defence budget was the 'bare minimum required for our safety'. He pledged to his military-oriented audience he will 'vigorously resist' defence spending cuts. Maybe in the 1977 fiscal year spending on nuclear forces can be held down but the projection depends on 'real progress in SALT II (strategic arms limitations talks),' Mr. Ford said. If there can be no agreement, 'I will have no choice but to recommend to the Congress an additional $ two to three billions for strategic weapons programme in the current and coming fiscal years,' he said. Mr. Ford also said the U.S. was watching to see if the Soviet Union would honour individual rights and human freedoms that were implicit in the declaration at the recent European summit conference at Helsinki.
