Coach of Delhi-Ghaziabad train derails, train services disrupted briefly
A passenger train travelling from Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi to Ghaziabad derailed on Thursday afternoon near Shivaji Bridge station. The fourth coach of the train came off the tracks, but no injuries or casualties have been reported.
The incident involved Train No. 64419 (NZM-GZB EMU), which was heading from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Ghaziabad Junction. According to IANS, "Train number 64419, en route from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Ghaziabad, derailed near Shivaji Bridge station. The fourth coach fell off the tracks."
The derailment took place around 4:10 pm on the down main line near Shivaji Bridge station.
No casualty, restoration underway
Northern Railway confirmed that no one was hurt in the incident. "Coach number 4 of the passenger train from Nizamuddin to Ghaziabad derailed and according to Indian Railways, all passengers are safe."
Railway officials began restoration work immediately, and efforts to bring operations back to normal were in full swing. "The Northern Railway said the restoration work is underway and there are no injuries or casualties in the incident."
The derailment disrupted regular train movement along this busy route. Several services were either delayed or diverted. Emergency teams, including engineers and technical personnel, arrived quickly to handle the situation. Specialised cranes were used to lift the derailed coach back onto the tracks, and safety procedures were activated at the site.
Investigation underway
Railway authorities have launched an initial investigation to find out what caused the derailment. Officials are examining whether the incident was due to a track issue, mechanical fault, or signalling error. Meanwhile, senior railway officers visited the site and supervised the restoration process.

New Delhi: It is too early to determine the exact cause of the Ahmedabad plane crash, aviation experts said on Friday. Ministry of Civil Aviation's former Joint Secretary, Dr Sanat Kaul, stressed that only a detailed investigation will uncover the real facts behind the tragedy. Speaking to IANS, Dr Kaul described the incident as deeply tragic, pointing out that it has resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives. "Speculations are being made -- some are saying a bird might have hit the aircraft, or that there was a flap malfunction -- but in my opinion, it appears to be an engine failure, as the aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff," he said. Responding to questions about Boeing, Kaul noted that the company has faced scrutiny in recent years. "The US Congress has investigated Boeing following multiple crashes involving the 737 Max. However, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is generally considered a reliable aircraft and has not reported such issues until now. So, only a proper probe will bring out the truth," he added. Echoing similar sentiments, aviation expert Sanjay Lazar called the incident "deeply disturbing and heartbreaking". "I pay my respects to all those who lost their lives and express my heartfelt condolences to their families," he said. Lazar pointed out that videos from the takeoff show that the pilot had issued a 'Mayday' call immediately after liftoff -- a clear sign of a serious emergency. "This suggests a possible engine failure or a significant bird strike," he said, but added that all such assessments are preliminary only. "The actual cause will only be known once the investigation is complete and the findings are made public," he said. The Air India flight AI171, en route from Ahmedabad to London, crashed on Thursday afternoon. There were 242 people on board.

"Missed It By 40 Seconds": Witnesses Share Horror Of Air India Crash
New Delhi: What began as an ordinary day in Ahmedabad turned into a nightmare within seconds, as a deafening explosion in the sky shattered the calm on Thursday. Witnesses recounted scenes of horror after an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, bound for London, crashed shortly after takeoff from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. A witness, Hansa Ben, a relative of a victim of the Air India Flight AI171 crash, speaking to IANS, said, "We were outside on the road when the incident happened. My sister-in-law was running a tea stall there. She and her son were both present at the spot. The boy was 15 years old and was sleeping on a rope bed (khatiya). Suddenly, there was a fire and he got caught in it. He didn't survive. His mother has been admitted to the hospital…" Another witness, Suraj Gajjar, whose house is just 500 metres away from the crash site, said, "When the blast happened around 1.40 p.m., we ran from our house, it's about 500 meters from here. Everyone from the local area gathered at the spot. Within 5-6 minutes, the police, fire department, and all emergency services had already arrived and have been working non-stop since then. The bodies being recovered are all from the plane crash. Work has been ongoing here continuously..." Another witness recalled how his life was saved by just 40 seconds. "I missed it by just 40 seconds", recalled a shaken young man who had been on his way to his brother's admission. "...Had I been there a little earlier, I could have been a victim too... I immediately called all my friends and asked them to rush to the spot. No one had the courage to go near the fire, and even the fire brigade hadn't arrived. When we arrived, we first went to the canteen. My group and I tried to remove the gas cylinders to prevent more explosions. Despite the danger, one explosion had already occurred. We didn't care for our safety, our focus was on rescuing the trapped", he said. As rescue teams continue their task, the people who stood just seconds away from the crash site relive the trauma while sharing their tragic ordeals, which is likely to remain in their "memory box" till their last breath.

Woman, 30, Killed In Air India Plane Crash Was Flying To London For Husband's Birthday
Indore: Harpreet Singh (30), a resident of Indore was among the 241 passengers of the ill-fated Air India flight AI-171 that crashed in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Harpreet Singh was going to celebrate her husband Roby Singh Hora's birthday, in London on June 16. Roby Singh Hora is a software engineer in London and Harpreet was also an engineer, and she was working in a software company in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Her father-in-law Harjeet Singh Hora told IANS on Friday, "Harpreet had booked a flight ticket from Ahmedabad to London. She had planned to celebrate my son's birthday on June 16. She often used to visit him, but this time, this unfortunate incident occurred and now she is gone forever." Rajendra Singh Hora, another relative of Harpreet revealed that she was allotted seat number 22 E on the Boeing Dreamliner that crashed within 38 seconds after take-off, resulting in the death of 241 people on board and many others on the ground. "Roby and Harpreet had got married in 2020, but they had no child. Earlier, Harpreet was also with Roby in London, but she lost her job there a few years ago, and had joined a software company in Bengaluru," Rajendra Singh told IANS. A few family members have reached Ahmedabad to receive Harpreet's body. When asked, if they had got the remains, Rajendra Singh said, "Not yet". Meanwhile, family members and relatives have gathered at Harpreet's ancestral home in Indore. The plane had crashed shortly after take-off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon. Apart from the 241 people aboard the ill-fated aircraft who perished in the crash, many innocent people on the ground were feared killed as the Boeing plane crashed into a residential building and mess of BJ Medical College and burst into a ball of flames, triggering an immediate emergency response. The flight was heavily fuelled for the long-haul journey, adding to the intensity of the explosion and fire that followed the crash. Senior BJP leader and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was going to meet his daughter in London, also died in the crash. The tragic incident has sent shockwaves across the world.
