Three male youths wanted after van 'deliberately' set alight in Coatbridge
Three masked youths are being hunted by police after a van was torched in Coatbridge last night.
Detectives are keen to trace the male suspects who were seen running away from the scene outside a shop in Dunure Street where a white Mercedes Sprinter van was deliberately set alight while parked.
The incident happened at around 7.45pm on Thursday, July 31.
The fire was put out before emergency services arrived at the scene.
The three male youths are described as white, aged 16-17 years-old and all were wearing scarves to cover their faces.
One was around 5ft 6in tall and was wearing a grey tracksuit. The second was was wearing all black and the third youth was wearing a grey Montirex jacket and black Nike trainers.
Police are appealing for CCTV and dash-cam footage of the wilful fireraising.
Detective Constable Niccolo Gamberi said: 'Our enquiries are ongoing into this incident, and I am asking anyone who might have been in the area and saw something to get in touch.
'Similarly, anyone in the area with private CCTV or dash-cam footage that might have captured anything that could be useful in our investigation is urged to contact us.'

For fraud, the figures were 155 incidents in 2023-24 and 168 in Scotland said the three-year average for shoplifting in the city was 423 incidents and 408 for the five-year a report to Highland Council, the force said the detection rate for the crime was 63% but only 14% for fraud.

Tay River rescue mission underway after 'concern for person' in water
A search is underway in the River Tay involving boats and helicopters. A rescue mission in a Scots river is underway amid a large-scale emergency response. Emergency crews have raced to the River Tay in Perth this evening at around 7.45pm after receiving a report of concern for a person in the water. Police Scotland have sealed off Tay Street in both directions, from Marshall Place to Canal Street, for motorists and pedestrians as they urge people to avoid the area. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that three appliances had been sent to the scene alongside two officers and two rescue boats. Two helicopters have also been pictured in the sky by locals as crews search the river, with ambulances also being spotted. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.45pm on Thursday, 14 August, 2025 we received a report of a concern for a person in the water near to Tay Street, Perth. "As a result, Tay Street is closed in both directions, from Marshall Place to Canal Street, for motorists and pedestrians. "Emergency services are in attendance and people are asked to avoid the area." A SFRS spokesperson added: 'We received the call at 7.37pm to Moncrieffe Island.
