A Place In The Sun guest breaks down in tears as house hunt takes a dramatic turn - and host Jean Johansson tells them to 'take a moment'

Daily Mail28-07-2025
An A Place In The Sun guest broke down in tears as her house hunt took a dramatic turn.
A previous episode of the Channel 4 show, which aired back in 2023, saw couple Manigeh and Ian enlist help from expert Jean Johansson, 43, to find their dream home in Torrevieja, Spain.
The pair - who share 10 kids between them - had a budget of £90,000 and wanted to make sure that the property had two bedrooms.
But at the very start of the episode, Jean made it clear that it would have been quite difficult to get that with the money that they had.
'It is a challenge in this area so I know what you can get for £90,000.
'There will be compromises to be had but I'm going to do my best to get all what you want into the property,' she told them.
Jean took the couple to a number of different properties, including a three-bed townhouse in La Torreta, and others in Torrevieja, El Chaparral and Aguas Nuevas.
And the townhouse in Torrevieja was the one that really caught their eyes.
The property boasted a front terrace, rooftop solarium and two communal pools.
As well as that, the apartment also had a large living/dining room and a semi-open kitchen, and exactly what they wanted - more than two bedrooms.
Not only that, it was under budget with an asking price of £84,052.
The pair decided to make an offer right at the end of the instalment.
'We'd like to put an offer in,' Ian told Jean.
Jean replied: 'Congratulations you two. This is exciting news. So... what offer would you like me to take forward to the agent?'
Ian said: 'I think £74,000.
'I know it's a bit cheeky, but the kitchen we felt is in need of a bit of an upgrade.
'So we're looking to do some work there.'
Jean then made a call to the estate agent and Manigeh and Ian were both very nervous about the call back.
'How are you feeling?' Jean asked.
Manigeh replied: 'Oh so nervous you won't believe.'
Ian added: 'Well this is the serious part now.'
After answering the phone to the estate agent, Jean told them: 'The agent has said that the owners can't go that low.
'The owners are looking for £81, 897. I know that is specific, that's the number they've got in their head.'
Ian said: 'We're happy to come up a bit. Can we kind of, meet them half way? Come up to about £80,000?'
Moments later Jean's ring tone went off and she answered her mobile.
Not giving much away, she told the agent: 'I'll pass that on to the couple.
'Now I've got some news for you guys, you can get this property for £81,000. Do we have a deal?'
The pair both replied: 'We have a deal!'
Jean called the agent back to tell them and she said out loud: 'We have a deal. We have a deal.'
Manigeh became very emotional and clapped her hands.
Jean told them: 'I'm so happy for you guys.'
And Manigeh couldn't contain her emotion and started crying.
She said: 'Unbelievable. Really happy.'
'Take a moment!' Jean said.
Ian said: 'I think that says it all, hey?'

Love Island star Helena Ford appears to take a swipe at rivals as show feud explodes

LOVE Island's Helena Ford may have sent a subtle dig at her fellow reality TV stars just weeks after leaving the Spanish villa. Helena was in a relationship with Harry Cooksley for much of this year's Love Island series, until he decided to recouple with Shakira Khan and would go on to be runners-up. 5 5 5 5 The blonde bombshell posted a video to TikTok showing her sitting in a hairdressers' chair, with her hair full of foils and it eventually cut to the final result. But it was in the voiceover to which Helena mimed to, that she may have taken a swipe at her fellow contestants, Shakira, Toni Laites and Yasmin Pettet. The audio was a clip from an interview with actress Ariana Greenblatt, who played the 'mean girl' daughter in the Barbie movie. Ariana says: "Whatever, we all know blondes have more fun, because their bleach is in their hair, let's talk about it." Helena's use of the audio could be seen as a dig to Shakira, Toni and Yasmin, who were often billed as the being given the 'mean girls' edit during this series of Love Island. Her TikTok also coincided with the release of an i-D Magazine feature interview with the three Islanders where they talked about feeling grateful they could represent brunettes and in Shakira's case, the South Asian community. "What have I signed up for?" Shakira said in the i-D interview. 'Everyone's gonna love the blonde hair, blue-eyed girls, we see year in year out on Love Island. I thought, based on initial attraction, it wasn't going to go well for me, but I was pleasantly surprised.' Shakira, Toni and Yasmin also addressed the ongoing feuds and rivalries in the villa describing at "classic High School behaviour". 'We felt that massively in the changing room, the snickers, the whispers, the dirty look," Shakira said. "When you come around the corner and they stop talking, you feel isolated, it feels frosty, really tense, and it's not nice. "It wasn't a bad edit; we tried to fix it, but that was our experience, we lived it.' Despite having a rocky relationship with some of their co-stars, the trio stuck together and gracefully took on every obstacle thrown at them. Sharon Stone, 67, sizzles in daring side-on view 33 years after notorious Basic Instinct film scene

LOOKS like film star Sharon Stone is still feeling a draught 33 years after her notorious Basic Instinct film scene. Sharon, 67, sported the daring side-on view while posing for Harper's Bazaar Spain September issue. She recently shut down rumours that she will be in a reboot of the 1992 erotic thriller, in which she famously went knickerless as suspected killer Catherine Tramell. The 2006 sequel, in which she reprised the role, was widely criticised. Sharon said: 'If it goes the way the one that I was in went, I don't know why you'd do it.' "I mean, go ahead, but good luck." Last year, Sharon told of her career-long fear of being shot dead by an obsessive fan — which was sparked by a chat with Sylvester Stallone. She said: 'What Sly said to me is that suddenly you are walking down the street, everyone is doing this (reaching into their pocket) and you don't know if they are going for the pen or the gun. 'That's what becomes so unsettling, because everybody is doing that. 'But you don't know why. 'You feel constantly in this unsettled place that you always have to figure it out and you have to fix it and be ready. 'You are always trying to figure out what everybody else's intentions are.'

Did Cristiano Ronaldo's fiancée Georgina Rodriguez debut a SECOND engagement ring?

Cristiano Ronaldo 's fiancée, Georgina Rodriguez, appeared to debut a second engagement ring in a new series of snaps posted on Instagram on Wednesday. The Argentine-Spanish model, 31, posed in a skimpy white Alo set, including tiny white shorts and a matching bra, while sporting a massive rock on her finger. But the ring appeared to be different than the massive 10-carat oval diamond that Ronaldo proposed with last week. Instead, it was a giant square-cut set on a silver band, raising the question, did he give her another rock? However, it doesn't appear to have been gifted to her by the sports star as she's previously been spotted wearing it in various Instagram pictures. The bling definitely rivaled her engagement ring, which she debuted last week, looking to be almost as many carats, if not larger. She showed the ring off in multiple photos, striking poses with confidence by the Red Sea shore, capturing a stunning sunset behind her. The couple announced they were set to wed after almost a decade together in an Instagram post on Monday evening. The Argentine-Spanish model, 31, posed in a skimpy white Alo set, including tiny white shorts and a matching bra, while sporting a massive rock on her finger Confirming their engagement, the model wrote: 'Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.' According to New York City gemologist and founder of The Clear Cut Olivia Landau, Rodriguez's oval ring is worth 'several million dollars.' 'It features an oval diamond estimated to be over 10 carats, possibly as large as 15 carats,' Landau told the Daily Mail at the time. 'It appears to be flanked by two smaller oval diamond side stones, each approximately 2–3 carats. The setting is platinum with double claw prongs on all four corners,' she continued. 'Depending on the quality, the ring and center diamond are likely worth several million dollars.' Ronaldo has been dating Rodriguez since 2017, after they met at the Gucci store where she was working as a sales assistant. That same year, they also announced that Rodriguez was pregnant with the soccer player's fourth child - a daughter named Alana Martina. Then, in 2021, they announced that they were expecting twins - but tragically, their baby boy passed away during birth. However, their daughter, Bella Esmeralda, survived. Now, after tackling parenthood together, it looks like a wedding is next up on the list for the couple. 'I didn't think at the beginning that [the relationship] would be this strong. That I would fall in love with her,' Ronaldo shared during the first episode of his soon-to-be-wife's Netflix reality series, I Am Georgina. 'I didn't expect it honestly. But after a while I felt that she was the woman of my life,' he said.
