Ed Westwick to host Pak-India match afterparty
Cricket lovers know that nothing ramps up the tension more than a Pakistan vs India cricket match. British actor and musician Ed Westwick is here to release that tension by hosting a post-match party in Dubai after the two teams clash in the ICC Champions Trophy on Sunday.
In a video circulating on social media, Westwick, walking along the street in his home country, can be seen answering a journalist's questions about his plans for the week. "Saturday, Mumbai! And then I'm off to Dubai to catch some sunshine and get away from this English weather for the India-Pakistan after party," said the Gossip Girl actor, best known to fans as the character Chuck Bass from the hit show. "Let's have some fun!"
It goes without saying that cricket fans in Pakistan may not be in a position to follow Westwick to the party after the two sporting rivals face off in the stadium, but no homegrown cricket lover can deny the air of festivity circulating the tournament, regardless of how the men in green shirts perform on the day.
In addition to afterparties, this particular Champions Trophy also uniquely boasts its very own official high-energy anthem, Jeeto Baazi Khel Ke. Performed by powerhouse vocalist Atif Aslam, the electrifying track seeks to harness Pakistanis' love for cricket and symbolises the unifying power of sport. Since its release last week, the high-octane number has won over the combined fans of both cricket and music as users filled up the comments section with words of praise.
"Perfect song for the perfect occasion," wrote one fan, as another added, "Atif Aslam is the bridge between borders."
The ICC Champions Trophy will see the top eight One Day International teams vying for the coveted cup, with matches due to take place across Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi. The only fixture scheduled outside of Pakistan is the long-anticipated clash between rivals Pakistan and India, which has been pencilled in for Dubai, the unofficial home away from home for so many in the sub-continent.

PHOTO: REUTERS Borussia Dortmund have signed English midfielder Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland until 2030, five years after bringing older brother Jude to the club. Dortmund announced the signing on Tuesday, the final day of the Club World Cup transfer window. "The England U21 international put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the eight-time German champions on Tuesday morning," Dormund said in a statement. Dortmund reportedly paid a fee of around 33 million euros ($37 million), with five million in additional bonuses, to secure the midfielder's services, the most the club has paid up front for a player. "I'm very happy to be a Borussia Dortmund player now and to fight for titles together with this great club," said 19-year-old Bellingham. "I want to play my part in celebrating success with these great fans here and will work on myself and with the team every day. And I'm very happy that I'll be wearing the black and yellow jersey at the FIFA Club World Cup." Dortmund's transfer record remains the 35 million euros paid to bring Ousmane Dembele from Rennes in 2018 although this was originally 15 million euros which rose by 20 million in sell-on fees once the player transfered to Barcelona. "Jobe is an extremely talented footballer with an impressive level of maturity and intelligence on the pitch for someone so young," said Lars Ricken, BVB Managing Director for Sport. After leaving Birmingham City, Jude spent three seasons at Dortmund and has become one of the most recognisable players in world football since joining Real in 2023. As he did at Sunderland, the younger Bellingham will wear 'Jobe' on his jersey at Dortmund rather than his last name in a bid to distinguish himself from his brother. Jobe scored four goals and laid on three assists in 40 games for Sunderland this season as he helped the club win promotion to the Premier League.

Photo: Reuters From colourful frocks and hats to handbags and shoes, items belonging to the late Princess Diana go under the hammer this month in what Julien's Auctions says is the largest collection of her fashion to go to auction, reported Reuters. The live and online "Princess Diana's Style & A Royal Collection" sale will take place on June 26 at The Peninsula Beverly Hills, offering an array of fashion items Diana wore. "This is the largest Princess Diana auction because we have over 100 items from her amazing life and career — keeping in mind Diana herself — sold over 70 of her dresses — back in 1997 to raise money for her charity," Martin Nolan, executive director and co-founder of Julien's Auctions, told Reuters on Monday. He was speaking at the Museum of Style Icons in Newbridge in Ireland during a pre-sale exhibition. Among the highlights is a 1988 silk floral dress by Bellville Sassoon, dubbed the "caring dress" because Diana wore it several times on hospital visits, with a price estimate of $200,000-$300,000. A cream silk embroidered evening gown Catherine Walker designed for Diana's 1986 Gulf tour has a similar price tag, while a Bruce Oldfield two-piece yellow floral ensemble she wore for Royal Ascot in 1987 is estimated at $100,000-$200,000. Other sale items include a Dior handbag gifted to her by former French first lady Bernadette Chirac in 1995, a sketch of Diana's 1981 wedding dress with tulle fabric cut-offs from when she married then Prince Charles in 1981 and a peach hat she wore for her honeymoon send-off. As per the Daily Mail, the collection will also feature a Murray Arbeid midnight blue tulle strapless gown that Diana wore twice in 1986 — to the Phantom Of The Opera premiere and to a dinner with King Constantine of Greece — and to a Royal Opera House performance of Cinderella in 1987, which has a top estimate of $400,000 (£315,000). Additionally, the auction includes pieces belonging to other British royals including the late Queen Elizabeth II and the queen mother. Nolan said Julien's Auctions had previously sold a dress belonging to Diana for $1.14 million. "People do consider these items as an asset class now, because if people own these items today, chances are in years to come they will sell them for more than what they pay for (at) auction," he said. Part of the proceeds from the sale of Diana's items will go to charity Muscular Dystrophy UK. The pre-sale exhibition in Newbridge will run until June 17.
