MARA urged to create leadership module inspired by Pak Lah
The proposal aims to reinforce the Malay and bumiputera agenda by embedding values of knowledge, ethics, and integrity in future leaders.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi suggested integrating the module into MARA institutions such as Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM), Institut Kemahiran MARA (IKM), Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi MARA (KKTM), and GIATMARA.
This initiative seeks to produce technically skilled bumiputera youth with strong moral character and leadership qualities.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, recommended expanding MARA's education programmes into economic corridor regions.
This expansion would distribute development opportunities nationwide, reducing over-reliance on the Klang Valley.
He also proposed increasing MARA Mobile Training Centres in rural areas to provide technical and digital training directly to underserved communities.
His speech was delivered by Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang during the 'Pemikiran Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi' symposium.
The event was attended by MARA Chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, MARA Director-General Datuk Zulfikri Osman, and Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) Vice-Chancellor Associate Professor Dr Sharifah Syahirah Sy Shiekh.
Ahmad Zahid also highlighted the need for a special programme called 'Islam Hadhari Entrepreneurs,' promoting modern entrepreneurship guided by Islamic principles.
He encouraged academic research on Tun Abdullah's leadership style through UPTM to preserve his legacy for future generations.
The Islam Hadhari approach, introduced by Tun Abdullah, aligns with the Malaysia MADANI concept under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Both frameworks emphasise inclusive, progressive, and resilient nation-building.
The symposium, attended by over 500 participants, featured discussions on leadership, policy, and Malaysia's development under Tun Abdullah's tenure as the fifth prime minister. – Bernama

Johor launches statewide campaign against bullying with special Friday sermons
JOHOR BARU: Bullying is strictly prohibited in Islam and will be the focus of the Friday sermon across mosques in Johor this week, as part of a sweeping campaign against the menace. State Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid said the initiatives, carried out under his portfolio, were in line with the decree by the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, for an all-out anti-bullying push. The measures include an awareness campaign with the Kolej Universiti Islam Johor Sultan Ibrahim's student representative council, a statewide campaign across Johor's government religious schools and private Islamic institutions, and a special Friday sermon to highlight the dangers of bullying and its prohibition in Islam. "The main objective is to raise awareness among students, civil servants and the public about the devastating effects of bullying, which often lead to trauma, loss of dignity and emotional distress for victims," Fared said in a statement today. He added that the campaign also aimed to instil empathy among youths and the wider community to stamp out bullying at its roots. "Firm action must be taken against bullies. At the same time, awareness must be strengthened so that such incidents do not recur. "The safety and wellbeing of our children must always be protected," he said.

MBSB Bank inks RM1.3bil Islamic financing deal with Cypark
KUALA LUMPUR: MBSB Bank Bhd has formalised Islamic financing facilities worth RM1.3bil for Cypark Resources Bhd , making it the company's principal banking partner. In a statement, MBSB said the facility, which combines refinancing and working capital solutions, is structured to strengthen Cypark's capital structure, optimise cash flow and support growth. Cypark will also place funds into MBSB Bank's Sustainable Term Deposit-i, a product that channels deposits into environmental and social projects. 'This facility is a milestone in our own transformation as we align Islamic finance with national energy goals. By matching capital to long-term renewable assets, we are also shaping Malaysia's clean energy future,' MBSB group chairman Datuk Wan Kamaruzaman Wan Ahmad said. Cypark, Malaysia's integrated renewable energy and environmental solutions provider, is known for solar, biogas and waste-to-energy projects, including the country's first SMART Waste-to-Energy facility. With 400MW of installed renewable capacity, it plays a key role in Malaysia's decarbonisation. The financing marks a milestone in its Cypark 2.0 plan to strengthen finances, enhance operations and drive clean energy growth. Through this financing, MBSB Bank will refinance Cypark's established renewable energy assets in solar and waste-to-energy initiatives.
