Ryan Hunter haunts old side Brigade and leads Newbuildings to T20 Cup Final joy

The former Ireland Under-19 international top-scored with an unbeaten 66 (five fours, four sixes) as Newbuildings made 145 for four at Ardmore.
Hunter shared a third wicket stand of 72 with West Indian international Peat Salmon (44), but the pair hadn't really managed to break the shackles of the Brigade bowlers.
That all changed in the final three overs of the innings as Hunter switched into top gear, scoring the bulk of the 43 runs that came in those 18 balls.
You sensed the momentum was with Newbuildings and that increased further as Scott Macbeth edged Gregory McFaul behind in the first over of the reply.
Cameron Melly followed soon after, clearly incensed to be adjudged lbw to Hunter, and when Ifty Hussain was brilliantly caught by a diving Leeroy McKeegan, Newbuildings were rampant.
The game was held up for almost 10 minutes after Hunter damaged a hamstring, and with a Senior Cup Final on the horizon, it's clearly a concern for their chances against Donemana.
Adam McDaid and David Barr (27) rebuilt the innings with a stand of 63 before Salmon broke the partnership, quickly followed by castling Mark Hanna in a double-wicket maiden.
McDaid, though, kept connecting on his way to a top score of 57 (six fours, one six), and it wasn't until he was dismissed by Johnny Thompson (three for 19) that the result was all but confirmed.
It was fitting that Ross Hunter took the final wicket to seal a 21-run win – he will be hoping to lift at least two more before the 2025 season ends.
Meanwhile, in the NCU, holders Waringstown will meet Holywood in the Gallagher Women's Cup Final in a repeat of the 2024 decider after both recorded convincing wins in the Semi-Finals.
CSNI made 126 for nine in their 30 overs at The Lawn, with Emily Calvert top-scoring with an unbeaten 30 in an innings that never really had any momentum.
Naomi Matthews picked up three wickets, while there were two apiece for Penny Speer and Rachel Harrison in an impressive display by the bowling unit.
The chase proved a formality led by a magnificent unbeaten 75 from Abbi Harrison, who hit nine boundaries in her 55-ball innings that was enough for her to be given the Player of the Match accolade.
Harrison shared an unbroken 127-run opening partnership with Amy Caulfield (31 not out) as the 10-wicket win was achieved in the 19th over.
Holywood were also in top form as they steamrollered Lisburn to win by nine wickets in their last-four clash at Wallace Park.
The game was as good as over as the home side slipped to 15 for six with Player of the Match Erin Bond taking four wickets and Lara Maritz two.
Beth Kennedy (21) led a recovery of sorts, but Alex Atkinson claimed three wickets for just five runs, and a final total of 57 was never likely to cause Holywood any trouble.
Dutch international Madison Landsman hit an unbeaten 28 from just eight balls (two fours, three sixes) as Holywood eased to victory in just the fifth over.
The Final is set for The Lawn on Sunday, August 3, while the two are also embroiled in a title race that looks like going to the wire.

Chelsea agree deal to sign Arsenal and Liverpool transfer target

Chelsea have agreed personal terms with Ajax full-back Jorrel Hato, according to reports. The Blues have set out their stall in the summer transfer market, completing deals for Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Dario Essugo and Mamadou Sarr for a combined fee of around £190million. But the Europa Conference League winners are determined to further bolster Enzo Maresca's first-team squad before the deadline and attentions have turned to bringing in defensive reinforcements. Reports emanating out of the Netherlands earlier this summer claimed Hato's camp had held initial discussions over a proposed transfer move to Stamford Bridge. Arsenal and Liverpool have also been credited with a strong interest in Horrel, 19, who was last season named the Eredivisie Talent of the Season. But the versatile Dutchman, who can play at left-back and centre-half, was said to have been perceptive to Chelsea's advances and talks have been advancing at a pace in recent weeks. According to Fabrizio Romano, Horrel has now asked Ajax to leave and informed the Eredivise outfit of his desire to join Chelsea having agreed personal terms with the Blues. It's claimed negotiations over a possible fee of €40million (£35m) are now in their 'final stages'. Just hours earlier, Romano reported that Chelsea were firmly in the driving seat to wrap up an agreement for the highly rated teenager, as well as RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons. Speaking to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf on Wednesday, Hato's agent, Humphry Nijman, said: 'Yes, the club [Chelsea] have contacted Ajax.' Hato made 50 appearances in all competitions last season and played a key role as Ajax narrowly missed out on the Eredivisie title after finishing just one point behind PSV Eindhoven. The youngster's current contract in Amsterdam runs through to June 2028. In a wide-ranging interview with Ajax's official website last month, Hato opened up on the goals and ambitions he hoped to fulfil in his career. At the time, the defender was keen to stress that he felt at 'home' at Ajax. More Trending He said: 'The smartest thing is to look ahead to pre-season, that's what I do. 'Of course you want to achieve things in the end: the Champions League, a World Cup and a European Championship, I still have plenty of time. I don't think I absolutely have to win the Champions League in two years. 'In the Dutch league, you have to show how good you are against the big clubs. Ultimately, I have to continue to develop the things I am already good at, so that it becomes top. 'How do I describe my time at Ajax? Ajax is home for me. I just feel at home here.' Aberdeen star in loan exit despite Jimmy Thelin praise

The Dutch winger heads to the Finnish top flight side until January after finding himself surplus to requirements at Pittodrie once more. After signing in 2022, the 24-year-old has found it difficult to become a regular and has had two loans back in the Netherlands with Excelsior Rotterdam and Emmen. He was back with the Scottish Cup winners last season and scored two goals in 11 Premiership appearances. He now heads back out in search of more regular football despite being praised for his work rate by [[Aberdeen]] manager Jimmy Thelin. Read more: As the Helsinki loan was announced, the Swede said: 'Vicente's worked hard in pre-season and he has a clear desire to play regularly at this stage of his career. 'While we haven't been able to promise him that at Aberdeen, we believe this is the right opportunity for him to secure regular time on the pitch. 'With our club being very familiar with HJK from the relationships that have developed previously, and having recently dealt with them over the arrival of Topi Keskinen, we know they have a very good environment. "This move should provide Vicente the game time he needs in a competitive league with a team who have European football to look forward to and we hope it is the perfect platform for him to flourish.' Besuijen has 11 goals from 57 appearances to date at Aberdeen.
