These are the most popular Irish baby names for boys and girls
Naming your baby is a big deal. Seriously. Once you've locked the title in, there's no going back. Unless you're Kylie Jenner, that is. Which means new parents or parents-to-be often spend ages going back and forth on potential ideas, trying to agree on the perfect name for the newest addition to their family.
These days, picking a name isn't as simple as it was when your mum, gran, or great-gran were naming their kids, either. There's less pressure to pass down titles to keep them in the family, and more of a focus on creativity. From seasonal to traditional to vintage to geographical, it's also popular to give a nod to your heritage, too.
With that being said, if you're looking for the perfect Irish baby name, we've got you. Whether popular in Ireland or traditionally Irish, we scoured the data provided by the Central Statistics Office to see which names, for both boys and girls, are big hitters right now.
The list of most popular baby names in Ireland is currently a mix of names with English origins, Irish origins, and Latin origins, so we've also sought out some well-known and more unique Irish names for you to browse for inspiration too.
Good luck!
Some Irish names can be a challenge for people to pronounce if they're unfamiliar with Gaelic (and, as we all know, there's nothing worse than having somebody butcher your, or your child's, name).
So, with that in mind, we asked our good pal Brooke Scullion, a bona fide Derry girl, to lend a hand with how to correctly say some traditional Irish names (which are also listed below).

Taylor Swift Wedding Photos Slammed Over Plastic Surgery Allegations
While celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Sami Sheen are opening up about the plastic surgery that they've had done, Taylor Swift has remained relatively quiet on the topic. However, after accompanying her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, to a family wedding, rumors are circulating on social media that the "Shake It Off" singer has had work done. The "Cruel Summer" singer joined the Kansas City Chiefs' tight end to celebrate the wedding of Kelce's cousin, Tanner Corum, and his bride, Samantha Peck. Photos of the event quickly circulated on social media, with some speculating that the high-profile couple had already tied the knot themselves. Other fans, meanwhile, speculated that the singer might have had plastic surgery since ending her record-breaking Eras Tour. 'She looks really weird lately,' one fan wrote on Reddit above a photo of Swift posing at the wedding. 'I feel like she got more plastic surgery, right?' They went on to say how she looks so 'uncanny' and pointed out her cheeks, noting that they look 'strange and overdone,' which they supposed was the result of cheek filler. 'I don't remember her face ever being that full,' they noted, explaining that her eyes look a 'little weird' too. 'It's pretty crazy seeing her next to a normal-looking person,' they continued. 'I'm honestly so sad she's going down this road. In my opinion, she looked pretty and normal even a few years ago. I hope she doesn't continue getting more procedures done.' 'Her face looks super tight like she can't make real emotions,' one netizen commented. 'So yes. I honestly base people's plastic surgery journey off the Kardashians because they're the final boss of that sh-t and she be looking like Kris Jenner more and more every day.' Another user agreed, writing, 'Yeah, she reminds me of Joan Rivers in her later years… already.' Joan Rivers got some love from fans for owning up to her plastic surgery instead of denying it, with another fan writing, 'RIP to a real one. People who get plastic surgery and cosmetic treatments in general should take notes from people like Joan Rivers and Dolly Parton— own it. There is so much more power in owning it than denying it and claiming you're just using a good moisturizer and doing facials.' Other users were disappointed with her new look and blamed it on the 'WAG lifestyle and persona' while trying to fit in with the NFL aesthetic. 'Obviously, everyone can do with their body whatever they want, but I think this level is pretty sad cause it often roots in insecurities (which she even admitted to herself multiple times),' one fan wrote. 'I think she looked very pretty and "unique" during Reputation - Evermore or even until Midnights. To m,e she had a more natural and 'peaceful' aura about her.' 'Something seemed to have changed a lot with the Eras Tour and other circumstances in her life changing,' they continued. 'She adapts so much to the people surrounding her and this also shows in her appearance imo.' Kylie Jenner recently opened up about the plastic surgery that she had done by Dr. Garth Fisher. As The Blast previously reported, fans have been begging to know the details behind Kylie's breast augmentation. "445 cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle!!!!! silicone!!! garth fisher!!! hope this helps lol," she wrote in one of the comments of the video, earning praise from fans who were eager to replicate her figure. Prior to her nose job, the daughter of and also had surgery in 2023. As previously reported by The Blast, she told her followers that she received 350cc silicone implants. Although she initially supported her daughter's decision to join OnlyFans as soon as she turned 18, Denise Richards did not support her daughter's decision to get breast implants because she wants to get her own pair removed. 'I'm trying to talk her out of it because, and the reason why I'm getting them out, is I didn't know how toxic [they are] when I was 19,' Denise told Bustle in 2023. 'And it's not an easy surgery. It's painful!'

HBO will submit four cast members from The Penguin for Emmy consideration, Gold Derby has confirmed. Colin Farrell as Oswald "Oz" Cobb, aka the Penguin, is entering the Best Movie/Limited Series Actor category, as expected. Earlier this awards season, the Irish actor prevailed at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice, and Screen Actors Guild Awards for playing the villainous DC Comics character. A victory at the Emmys would complete his sweep of top awards. A former Oscar nominee for The Banshees of Inisherin (2022), this would be his first career Emmy bid. More from GoldDerby 'Matlock' acting Emmy submissions include Kathy Bates and Skye P. Marshall, plus these 3 guest stars Ramón Rodriguez on the power of vulnerability and grit in 'Will Trent': 'that combination of toughness and tenderness really drew me in' 'Industry' star Sagar Radia on his standout episode, 'White Mischief,' and if Rishi knows about 'Uncut Gems' Cristin Milioti as Sofia Gigante (née Falcone) is being submitted for Best Movie/Limited Series Actress. She won the Critics Choice Award for this role, but lost at the Golden Globes to Jodie Foster (True Detective: Night Country) and at the SAG Awards to Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer). Milioti could receive her first two career Emmy noms this year, for The Penguin in the lead race and Black Mirror 's "USS Callister: Into Infinity" in the supporting contest. Rhenzy Feliz as Victor "Vic" Aguilar will compete in Best Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actor. The breakout 27-year-old plays a teenager who becomes Oz's driver and personal enforcer. Feliz is also known for voicing Camilo in the film Encanto (2021) and for playing Alex in the TV show Runaways (2017-19). And Deirdre O'Connell as Francis Cobb will be eligible in Best Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actress. For her role as Oz's ailing mother, who suffers from Parkinson's and Lewy body dementia, the character actress recently nabbed a Critics Choice Awards bid, losing to Gunning. O'Connell can next be seen in Eddington, the star-studded film from Ari Aster, which just premiered at Cannes.
