The Chicago Sky are finally showing some signs of life this season. After losing four straight games to start the campaign, the Sky have now managed to win two straight contests to improve to 2-4.

This team still has a long way to go, but there's no denying that they are currently on the right track.
Unfortunately for Angel Reese and Co., they were dealt a major blow on Wednesday after news about the upcoming FIBA Women's AmeriCup tournament.
According to a report by WNBA reporter Roberta F. Rodrigues, center Kamilla Cardoso has been included in the roster of the Brazil national squad. The 24-year-old will reportedly "show up for the competition" in Santiago, Chile, which means that she will be away from the Sky for a considerable stretch.
As the above report indicates, the international tournament will take place between June 28 and July 6. The silver lining for Chicago is that they only have two games scheduled during that two-week stretch, which means that Cardoso won't miss too much time.

Nevertheless, it has been made clear by their rough start this year that this season will be an uphill battle for the Sky. Losing one of their best players—even for just a couple of games—is still considered a big blow for this team, especially during a crucial juncture in the season.

Reese, in particular, will need to carry a much heavier load with Cardoso out. Reese and Cardoso, who both joined the Sky last season as rookies, have been Chicago's twin towers as their starting frontcourt pairing.
The Sky will need to fill Cardoso's void—likely via a committee approach—but there's no denying that Reese will need to work extra hard without her frontcourt partner on the floor.
