Jenna Ortega urges followers to 'be angry' over Los Angeles immigration raids
Actress Jenna Ortega declared that the world was "crying" on Saturday because of Los Angeles immigration raids and ongoing wars in the Middle East.
"The world is crying all over," the "Wednesday" star wrote on her Instagram story. "People in Los Angeles are being torn away from their everyday lives & love... The ones they've built so tirelessly over the years, just like you.. Innocent civilians in Iran are caught in the middle of warfare. Palestinian cries are still being buried in every day [sic] media. My thoughts are heavy, my heart follows."
She advised her followers to "never stop paying attention" as "human freedoms spanning across seas are being violated with such violence."
"Listen to one another & love, but be angry too. Educate yourself as best you can. To say this doesn't concern you, or that it isn't your problem, is a privilege under abuse," Ortega wrote.
Ortega's post alluded to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids taking place in Los Angeles this month. The raids inspired protests which later turned into violent riots that devastated local businesses.
The post was also in reference to recent preemptive Israeli strikes against Iran and the ongoing Israel-Gaza war, the latter being an issue that led to Ortega's "Scream" co-star Melissa Barrera being dropped from an upcoming franchise sequel.
Ortega's post came the same day that several "No Kings" rallies took place across the country in protest of President Donald Trump.
Fox News Digital reached out to a representative for Ortega for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
Singer Olivia Rodrigo made a similar post on her Instagram story on the same day, lamenting the "violent deportations" of her "neighbors."
"I've lived in LA my whole life and I'm deeply upset about these violent deportations of my neighbors under the current administration," Rodrigo wrote.
"LA simply wouldn't exist without immigrants. Treating hardworking community members with such little respect, empathy, and due process is awful. I stand with the beautiful, diverse community of Los Angeles and with immigrants all across America. I stand for our right to freedom of speech and freedom to protest," she added.

Trump Directs ICE to Pause Arrests at Restaurants, Farms, and Hotels
Skip to main content Current eater city: Los Angeles On June 14, amid ongoing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids in Los Angeles, the Trump administration reportedly instructed agents to pause arrests at restaurants, farms, and hotels, according to multiple outlets. The shift in policy follows a post on Truth Social from President Trump on June 12 that addresses complaints from farmers and hotel workers who say the far-reaching raids are taking away employees who are 'almost impossible to replace.' Restaurant, hotel, and farmworkers are statistically more likely to be affected by immigration sweeps. According to the American Immigration Council, immigrants comprise 22 percent of the food service labor force, with this percentage being higher in states such as California, Texas, and New York. The USDA estimates that about 40 percent of farmworkers are undocumented. Some of the earliest reports of ICE raiding a restaurant in Southern California came from San Diego on May 30, when agents raided Buona Forchetta in South Park. ABC reports that a Homeland Security warrant shows the agency received a tip that alleged the Italian restaurant employed undocumented workers. According to the San Diego Tribune , between 20 and 25 ICE agents conducted the raid; the agents allegedly handcuffed all employees present on site and later detained a handful of workers (some outlets reported three were detained, others reported four). Crowds gathered at the restaurant as the raid was underway to protest ICE; San Diego mayor Todd Gloria later released a statement saying, 'Federal actions like these are billed as a public safety measure, but it had the complete opposite effect. What we saw undermines trust and creates fear in our community.' Buona Forchetta in South Park temporarily closed after the raid but has since reopened. A week later, on June 6, ICE rolled into Los Angeles with large-scale immigration sweeps that began with agents raiding the parking lot of a Westlake Home Depot just west of Downtown, as well as making arrests in the Fashion District at two locations of Ambiance Apparel. In response to the raids, protesters have gathered daily in Downtown Los Angeles around the Edward R. Roybal Federal Building, with satellite protests in areas where ICE has been spotted, as well as in neighborhoods like Koreatown and Westlake. Protesters have been met with militarized force from the Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, the National Guard, and the United States Marines. On June 10, ICE agents were seen raiding farms and packing house distribution centers in Ventura, Kern, and Tulare counties. As the raids continue, Los Angeles residents remain afraid to go to work, according to KCRW and other local news publications. Rolling Stone reports that green card holders are even concerned about going to the grocery store or running errands. Those fears aren't unfounded. L.A. Taco reports that ICE conducted a raid at Jason's Tacos in East LA and arrested both staff and customers. On June 15, ICE raided the Santa Fe Springs Swap Meet and made several arrests. In response to the raids, Angel's Tijuana Tacos, which operates stands across Los Angeles, closed all of its locations outside of its Anaheim restaurant. In the days since the raids began, Los Angeles's streets have been emptied of the familiar fruteros, taqueros, and other vendors, leaving an unsettling quiet in their wake. Groups like Ktown for All, a volunteer organization dedicated to supporting Koreatown's unhoused community, are stepping in to help keep vendors off the street and out of imminent danger. Over the last few weeks, they have been raising funds to buy out street vendors for the duration of ICE's presence in Los Angeles so they don't have to risk selling in public. According to the Los Angeles Times , the buyout has raised more than $50,000 so far, enabling more than 20 vendors to remain safe at home for the month. The food purchased from the street vendors, which includes bags of homemade tamales, is being distributed to the neighborhood's unhoused population. Just days after Trump allegedly called for agents to ease off raids at restaurants, farms, and hotels, he posted again to Truth Social on June 15. This time, the President ordered ICE to expand efforts to 'detain and deport' in cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. In the post, he called these cities 'the core of the Democrat Power Center.' Whether this latest post affects the earlier guidance on excluding hospitality venues remains to be seen. See More:

Letitia James probing local cops for misconduct for working with Trump admin, ICE
State Attorney General Letitia James is conducting a sweeping misconduct probe of New York local law enforcement authorities who may be helping the Trump administration crack down on illegal immigration, The Post has learned. The AG's office is targeting any cooperation between local law enforcement officials and federal agencies, including Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security. 3 Letitia James is conducting a sweeping misconduct probe of New York local law enforcement authorities who may be helping the Trump administration crack down on illegal immigration, The Post has learned. Robert Miller Advertisement A letter from the office to Oswego County Sheriff Don Hilton requested any agreements between the office and any federal agency 'concerning the enforcement of federal immigration law' – and it also asks for documentation about cops receiving training on enforcing federal immigration. The letter cited a section of state law on official misconduct. 'Attorney General is conducting an investigation pursuant to New York Executive Law § 75(3) and has reasonable cause to believe that the Oswego County Sheriff's Office has information relevant to that investigation,' Lillian Marquez, deputy bureau chief of the AG's Law Enforcement Misconduct Investigative Office, wrote in the letter obtained by The Post. The attorney general's office also requested information concerning 'stops initiated by any member' by the Oswego sheriff's office — including traffic stop reports, body worn camera and video footage and recordings. 3 A child attempts to embrace her father as he is escorted by federal agents with other detainees to vehicles after exiting an Intensive Supervision Appearance Program office on June 04, 2025 in New York City. The Nassau County Sheriff's Office received a similar letter earlier this year over reports that it was involved in the 'enforcement of federal civil immigration law.' Upstate Rep. Elise Stefanik, who grilled Hochul over New York's sanctuary policies during a fiery congressional committee hearing last week, blasted James for declaring a 'war against law enforcement.' 'Kathy Hochul and Tish James' New York is illegals first, New Yorkers last,' Stefanik, who is mulling a run for governor next year, told The Post. 'This is a continuation of Kathy Hochul and NY Democrats' war against law enforcement. Just last week, Kathy Hochul embarrassed all New Yorkers when she was unaware of the violent crimes committed by illegals against New Yorkers including being burned alive, raped, and molested.' Stefanik said she stands behind 'President Trump, federal law enforcement, and our County Sheriffs who are working every day to restore law and order in our communities, fulfilling their constitutional oaths.'

White House Lashes Out at Obama Over Immigration Post
The White House has responded to former President Barack Obama's thinly veiled dig at President Donald Trump, telling the former president the American people don't care what he thinks. In an X post on Sunday, Obama decried the 'demonization' of immigrants as 'enemies' as Trump demanded super-charged raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in an unhinged Truth Social rant. The White House stopped just short of telling Obama to keep his nose out of it in a statement to the Daily Beast. 'If the American people cared what Obama thought, they would've followed his advice and elected open-borders radical, Kamala Harris,' spokesperson Abigail Jackson said in an emailed statement. 'But it's President Trump that's in the White House, and he is fulfilling his promise to the American people—securing our borders and deporting illegal aliens.' Over the past week, protests have surged across the U.S. in response to aggressive operations by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. The backlash began in Los Angeles, where federal workplace raids ignited public fury. It was a tale of two social media posts on Sunday. Just hours after Obama's appeal for 'dignity and respect' to prevail, Trump spewed out a trademark rant over on Truth Social. The former president, who served two consecutive terms between 2009 and 2017, referenced his Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy, which allowed immigrants who came to the U.S. as children to request official documentation. 'Thirteen years ago, my administration acted to protect young people who were American in every single way but one: on paper. DACA was an example of how we can be a nation of immigrants and a nation of laws,' Obama wrote. 'And it's an example worth remembering today, when families with similar backgrounds who just want to live, work, and support their communities, are being demonized and treated as enemies.' He continued: 'We can fix our broken immigration system while still recognizing our common humanity and treating each other with dignity and respect. In fact, it's the only way we ever will.' The script was flipped on Trump's very own social media website, where the president encouraged ICE agents to 'do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History.' He called for a clampdown on the 'Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens' in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York in particular. 'These, and other such Cities, are the core of the Democrat Power Center, where they use Illegal Aliens to expand their Voter Base, cheat in Elections, and grow the Welfare State, robbing good paying Jobs and Benefits from Hardworking American Citizens,' he claimed, without providing any evidence. His rallying cry continued: 'I want our Brave ICE Officers to know that REAL Americans are cheering you on every day. The American People want our Cities, Schools, and Communities to be SAFE and FREE from Illegal Alien Crime, Conflict, and Chaos.' Trump said he had delivered an administration-wide diktat to 'put every resource possible behind this effort, and reverse the tide of Mass Destruction Migration that has turned once Idyllic Towns into scenes of Third World Dystopia.' 'Now go, GET THE JOB DONE! DJT' he signed off.
