Former AFL star Brendan Fevola made a triumphant return to his beloved Carlton yesterday, running out onto the MCG and through the club banner. But the team he was leading was not the Blues, but rather The Underdogs, a group of kids who have lacked opportunities, been put down, excluded or suffered health issues that made playing sport difficult, who were given the chance to live their footy dreams for a day by Fox FM's Fifi, Fev and Nick breakfast show. Fevola was very much king of the kids, leading the fired up Underdogs in the banner run through before the start of the Carlton v North Melbourne game. Carlton favourite Charlie Curnow greeted the team at the top of the player's race, footy great Jonathan Brown gave the Underdogs a rousing pre-game speech, and Andy Lee was their water boy. Their banner read 'Fifi, Fev & Nick's underdogs bullied, excluded, left behind. Melbourne, time to be kind. Let's hear you roar!' And the MCG certainly roared, getting behind the mini battlers. Fevola said it was an honour to create such special memories for kids doing it tough. 'They're down in the rooms with their own locker, their own Pumas, they've got everything,' Fevola said. 'It's really cool. I love kids, I'm a kid myself, and it's something we can do that doesn't cost anything and bands the kids together. 'We thought, 'let's bring all these kids together for one big cause, to play on the MCG for one game. They got to run out through the Carlton banner, which is crazy.'
