Hong Kong artiste Edison Chen has found himself facing unwanted publicity after reports emerged that he was involved in an alleged dispute with a flight attendant during a recent commercial flight from Tokyo to New York.
According to Hong Kong entertainment site Dimsum Daily, the incident reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over disembarkation procedures, with the 44-year-old star allegedly telling the crew member: 'Bring your complaint letter. I will get you fired.'
Chen's management, however, has since clarified the matter, explaining that after the plane had landed, the Infernal Affairs (2002) actor was retrieving his luggage when a passenger behind him began moving forward.
Chen reportedly said politely: 'Could I please finish collecting my belongings first?'
According to his management, a flight attendant then intervened, saying that the other passenger could disembark first as he held the airline's Diamond status.
Chen, who is said to hold the same status, was left confused, prompting the misunderstanding.
Chen was previously embroiled in a sex scandal in 2008 after photos of him engaging in intimate acts with Hong Kong artistes such as Cecilia Cheung and Gillian Chung were leaked online.
The scandal resulted in him leaving the entertainment industry for 16 years, before he returned to perform as part of the music group 3Cornerz at pop culture carnival ComplexCon Hong Kong in 2024.
Chen has been married to Chinese supermodel Qin Shupei since 2007, and they have an eight-year-old daughter Alaia.
His management added that Chen is currently in communication with the airline to resolve the matter. THE STAR/ ASIA NEWS NETWORK

AI cannibals eat into $26 billion music market
What's worrying is the extent to which AI music is overwhelmingly cannibalising, not feeding, the human artists on which it was trained without compensation, says the writer. PHOTO ILLUSTRATION: UNSPLASH The song Echoes Of Tomorrow is a laid-back, catchy tune that might happily slot into summertime playlists on Spotify or Apple Music. Only the lyrics, which make curious references to 'algorithms', reveal its non-human creator: artificial intelligence. The track's mimicry of flesh-and-blood pop is pretty unsettling. Yet, what's really disturbing is the sheer quantity of similar AI tunes sloshing around online. Tools like Udio and Suno, trained on millions of songs crafted by human artists, are now churning out millions of their own tunes at the click of a button. Eric Christian Olsen and Sarah Wright have 4th child after 'incredibly complex' birth, Entertainment News
Eric Christian Olsen and Sarah Wright Olsen have become parents for the fourth time. The NCIS: Los Angeles star and his 41-year-old wife welcomed daughter Ocean Rain, a sister for Wyatt, 11, Esme, eight, and four-year-old Winter, into the world on Tuesday (June 17) following an "incredibly complex" labour. The couple wrote in a joint Instagram post: "She's here!! Ocean Rain Olsen. Born June 17 12.37am — 11 pounds 4 ounces (5.1kg). "Grateful beyond words for our amazing team that helped us get her here safely during an incredibly complex birth. Cannot wait to share all the details of this day." The post featured a series of posts of the couple in the hospital and posing proudly with their new baby. The couple — who married in 2012 — announced in February they were expecting their fourth child, with the happy news coming just a few weeks after their home in Malibu was destroyed by the Los Angeles wildfires. In an emotional post, the Spinning Out actress admitted it was "so hard" to say goodbye to their house because of the memories the family had of the abode. She wrote on Instagram at the time: "It's impossible to put into words these last few days. We are together and safe and surrounded by love. Thank you to uncle Dave and aunt Dani who took in so many of us. We lost our home. It was one of the first areas to go. "Our kids have said 'We all took our first steps there'. It's so hard to say goodbye to our gorgeous town, our special school and this place we have loved for 13 years. But we are so so grateful we are together and for the outpouring of love. "We have received so many messages from friends offering their homes, food, clothing, hugs, things for the kids, support and we are just blown away. It's what keeps making us tear up. Thank you it means so much to us." [[nid:719262]]
