Ballari: Questions papers got mixed up at several examination centres here during a university exam on Tuesday. BCom question paper was erroneously given in place of BSc second semester Kannada question paper.
Exams for various degree programmes, including BCA, BCom, BBA, BA, and BSc for second, fourth, and sixth semesters began commenced in colleges affiliated to Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University (VSKU). When the students were waiting for Basic Kannada question paper at 9am, the invigilators handed them the commerce question paper.
Realising the error, the heads of the respective examination centres alerted the university, after which VSKU authorities sent the correct question paper through email. The photocopies of the revised question paper were given to the students, and the exam proceeded smoothly after a 45-minute delay.
Registrar (evaluation) prof NM Sali said the question papers might have got mixed up during packing. "Nevertheless, the BSc question paper was sent through email, and the exam continued as planned," he added.

A total of 45,477 candidates (87.51%) of the registered 51,965 candidates took the Telangana Common Post Graduate Entrance Test conducted by Osmania University from August 6 to 11. The test was called for admissions for a total of 51 subjects, including 44 postgraduate courses and four five-year integrated courses. The test did not include subjects such as M.A. Arabic, Kannada, Marathi, Persian, Theatre Arts, M. Sc Electronics and Sericulture. The convener, TPCPGET, summarising the test details on Monday informed that the preliminary key for 32 subjects has been published on Candidates can express objections to the key along with supporting documents in the prescribed format online from Tuesday till 11 a.m. of August 21. Candidates, for each objection and each question, are required to pay Rs. 200 fee. The same would be refunded if the objection is found to be valid.

Kannada activist SR Sudarshan passes away

Mysuru: Kannada activist and academician SR Sudarshan, 73, passed away on Sunday morning. He is also one of the founders of Nrupatunga School in the city. He is survived by his daughter, Nudi Sudarshan, an engineer and artist. His body was donated to a hospital after a public homage. Sudarshan, who was part of the Gokak movement, was arrested for taking part in the agitation. He had completed MSc in Geology. He also secured 3rd rank at the University of Mysore in MSc Geology by writing the examination in Kannada. Later, he also wrote the LLB examination in Kannada. He penned several science books in Kannada, besides editing an abridged version of the Kannada-English dictionary of the University of Mysore. His English-Kannada dictionary was reprinted 15 times, reflecting its popularity. Sudarshan was a member of the Karnataka Science Academy, known for his pro-Kannada works in the state.
