NCSSP 2025: India's Off-Grid Cybersecurity Bootcamp Redefines Leadership Training
New Delhi [India], August 6: India is rewriting the rulebook on cybersecurity leadership. On August 21, 2025, Hyderabad will host one of the country's most unconventional cybersecurity training initiatives—one that swaps screens and lecture halls for tents, survival drills, and real-time crisis simulations.
The National Cyber Security Scholar Programme (NCSSP) 2025, backed by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN), is not just another training camp. It's a response to a growing threat landscape, a shift in mindset, and a national investment in the next generation of cyber defenders.
Run by the Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (ISAC), the NCSSP brings together a carefully selected cohort of leaders from diverse sectors: IAS and IPS officers, cybersecurity experts from major tech firms, officials from defence and intelligence agencies, academics from top institutions like IITs, and executives from banks, telecoms, and managed security service providers.
Cybersecurity in a New Light
What sets NCSSP apart is its radically different approach to training. The programme begins not in a conference room, but in a forest. Scholars will pitch their own tents, cook their own meals, and rely on analogue tools like HAM radios to communicate—mirroring the isolation and unpredictability of real-world cyber emergencies.
• RF jamming and radio building
• Lock-picking and perimeter breach drills
• Red vs. Blue team war-gaming
• Crisis response scenarios and leadership tests
• Survival skills like fire-starting, food foraging, and water purification
This setting strips away comforts and distractions, putting leadership, decision-making, and technical capability to the test in a way that boardrooms and computer labs simply can't replicate.
A Strategic National Push
At the heart of this bold initiative is CERT-IN, India's national nodal agency for cyber incident response, operating under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Over the years, CERT-IN has earned a reputation for more than just cyber policing—it's known as a driver of collaboration and resilience across government and private sectors.
Dr. Sanjay Bahl, Director General of CERT-IN, emphasized the urgency of developing adaptable, cross-functional talent. 'We are not waiting for cyber threats to strike. We are creating a resilient nation by building a skilled and trusted ecosystem of professionals across all sectors," he said.
Dr. M.S. Vijayraghavan, a respected figure in cyber policy circles, also praised the program's ambition, calling it a reflection of CERT-IN's forward-looking mindset and its commitment to building India's cyber capacity through proactive, hands-on engagement.
Why Hyderabad?
The choice of Hyderabad as the launch site is no coincidence. The city has emerged as one of India's premier cyber innovation hubs, home to leading cybersecurity R&D centers, startups, and global firms. Its proximity to natural landscapes allows for immersive training without digital interference, while still enabling access to infrastructure for simulations and industry site visits.
Organizations like GMR and Tata Communications are partnering to bridge the gap between tactical field training and operational infrastructure exposure.
Training for the Real World
The bootcamp is only the beginning. After the four-day immersive experience, participants will continue through January 2026 with:
• Weekly digital learning modules
• Field visits to power plants, airports, and data centers
• Research assignments
• Policy simulations and legal framework workshops
Capstone projects will cover critical issues like:
• National infrastructure protection
• AI-powered threat modeling
• Cybercrime and terrorism links
• Cyber diplomacy and incident response
These projects aim to create not just technical solutions, but strategic frameworks to shape India's digital security posture in the coming decade.
Graduates of the programme will join the National Security Database (NSD)—India's leading credentialing platform for cybersecurity professionals involved in strategic and operational roles. Many are expected to become key advisors to state and central governments, or to lead cybersecurity operations in major public and private institutions.
Building Beyond the Firewall
As attacks on banks, defense networks, and urban infrastructure become more complex, India's cybersecurity strategy is shifting toward agility and readiness. NCSSP reflects that shift. It's not about teaching individuals to operate tools—it's about teaching them to lead during uncertainty, to stay calm under pressure, and to think strategically in chaos.
Rajshekhar Pullabhatla, founder of ISAC, summed it up:
'Off-grid training isn't about discomfort; it's about recalibration. It's about rewiring how our leaders think, react, and lead in environments of chaos."
By bridging technical depth with strategic foresight and physical resilience, NCSSP is more than just a bootcamp—it's a blueprint for how India prepares its cyber defenders in an era where every second counts.
As the countdown to August 21 begins, one thing is clear: India is not just reacting to cyber threats—it's preparing to outpace them.

Metropolis Healthcare net profit rises 19 pc in Apr-Jun

The diagnostics firm reported a net profit of Rs 38 crore in the April-June period of the last fiscal. Global Health Q1 profit rises 50 pc to Rs 159 cr
Agency: PTI Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 7 (PTI) Healthcare chain Global Health Ltd on Thursday reported a 49.6 per cent increase in profit after tax at Rs 159 crore in the first quarter ended June 2025 on the back of increased patient volumes and improved realisations. The company had posted a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 106.3 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal, Global Health Ltd which runs a network of hospitals under the Medanta brand said in a statement. Revenue from operations in the first quarter stood at Rs 1,030.8 crore as against Rs 861.1 crore in the year-ago period, up 19.7 per cent, it added. 'This robust performance was driven by increased patient volumes and improved realisations, with consistent growth across mature hospitals as well as Lucknow and Patna hospital," Global Health Group CEO and Director Pankaj Sahni said. The company successfully operationalised a 110-bed hospital in Ranchi in July 2025 and remained on track to commission the upcoming 550-bed facility in Noida in Q2 FY2026, he added. Global Health is one of the largest private multi-specialty tertiary care providers operating in the north and east regions of India. On the road ahead, Sahni said, 'Backed by a balanced portfolio of assets and a strong balance sheet, we are well-positioned to execute our long-term growth strategy and further expand the Medanta model of care across the region." India will be USD 25 trillion power house by 2050: Gautam Adani at IIM Lucknow
Last Updated: Lucknow, Aug 7 (PTI) India will be a USD 25 trillion economic 'power house" by 2050 with the global centre of gravity shifting towards it, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said while addressing students at the Indian Institute of Management here on Thursday. The billionaire industrialist also told IIM Lucknow students that the future will belong to those who maximise possibility but never to those who play it safe. Speaking on the role of education in an age of artificial intelligence, algorithmic decision-making, and global uncertainty, Adani remarked, 'Frameworks that you study like DC model, Porter's five forces and a SWOT analysis have their place in the world of business but these are built on assumptions and hindsight. 'They teach you how to minimise risk but not maximise the future because the future will never belong to those who play it safe. It belongs to those who maximise possibility." Adani told the audience that their career timelines would align with India's most transformative decades. 'What I can state with confidence is that your most productive years will coincide with India's most powerful years. Your career and our country will rise together." 'You will not be looking at a five trillion or ten trillion dollar economy but you will be looking at an India that will be a 25 trillion dollar powerhouse by 2050. The global centre of gravity will shift and it will be towards you and towards India," he said. 'The first is demographic – we are the youngest, hungriest and most ambitious working population on the planet. A billion dreams ready to build," he said. 'The second is the demand. We are racing to become the third largest economy by 2030, not just by consuming but by creating markets for the world." He highlighted India's digital infrastructure as the third force. 'No country has built what we have like Aadhaar, UPI and ONDC. These are not just platforms but launch pads for inclusion, innovation and scale." 'And fourth is the domestic capital. For the first time in our history Indian money is backing Indian ideas with courage, conviction and an urgency that we have never seen." He told the gathering that shaping the future required imagination, risk-taking, and conviction. 'Maximising possibility means stepping into territory building before the market signals it is ready and trusting instincts when the data turns dry. Because that is how the future is shaped and not through predictions but through courage," he said. Referring to some of the Adani Group's challenging projects like those in Mundra, Dharavi and Australia, he added, 'These are not just acts of businesses but acts of imagination, of refusing to accept the world as it is and daring to see it as it could be." He urged the students to think beyond textbook frameworks. 'Business frameworks offer you a canvas pre-measured, pre-marked and safe. But India does not need more painters who fill in the blanks. It needs those who can question the canvas itself, those who can paint with colours not yet imagined. And this, right now, is your moment because India is the canvas that is standing in the age of something extraordinary." Urging students to root themselves in India's civilisational values, Adani said, 'While you may have studied books authored across the world but remember there is something deeper and something every Indian knows that no textbook can ever teach you." 'In a world fractured by war and torn by hunger for dominance, India stands tall by its restraint. Where others impose, India uplifts. Where others take, India gives. Quietly, consistently and with dignity. No nation can claim this moral high ground with the authenticity of India." 'And you, the children of our nation, must carry forward this responsibility. Learn from the world, yes. But never let the world define you. You are not just students of globalisation. You are the children of our civilisation," he said.
