Boston Celtics jersey history No. 28 - Quinn Buckner (1982-85)
To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Celtics Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team.
With 25 of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Celtics to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover.
And for today's article, we will continue with the sixth of 14 people to wear the No. 28, Boston guard alum Quinn Buckner. After ending his college career at Indiana, Buckner was picked up with the seventh overall selection of the 1976 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks.
His stint with the Bucks ended in 1982 when Milwaukee dealt him to Boston. His stay with the team would span three seasons, coming to an end when he was dealt to the Indiana Pacers in 1985.
During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Buckner wore only jersey No. 28 and put up 4.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.

Could the Boston Celtics still sign free agent big man Charles Bassey?
Could the Boston Celtics still sign free agent big man Charles Bassey? It seems that earlier reports hinting at the former San Antonio Spurs reserve center heading to Europe to sign with Serbian ball club Partizan may be premature, per recent reporting from Celtics Blog's Noa Dalzell. But is is also unclear as to whether or not Boston's front office is looking to bring on the Sin City Celtics standout, despite Boston President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens singing his praises after a strong showing in the NBA's 2025 Las Vegas Summer League. The team's tenuous status as a first apron team might also be playing a role in any decisions about Bassey to Boston. Might there be a potential partnership to be had here, or is this a case of fans latching on to a summer league star that ultimately is not likely to pan out? Also the host of the CLNS Media "You Got Boston" podcast, Dalzell took some time on a recent episode of her show to talk it over. Check it out below! Michael Porter Jr. Allegedly Spotted With Transgender Model At Hotel In Taiwan
Michael Porter Jr. Allegedly Spotted With Transgender Model At Hotel In Taiwan originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Michael Porter Jr. finds himself in new surroundings this offseason after the Denver Nuggets traded him to the Brooklyn Nets. While Porter adjusts to life in New York, he has now found himself at the center of a viral report coming out of Taiwan. Mirror Media reports that a transgender model named Xiao A La checked into a five-star hotel with an NBA player a couple of years ago. The publication obtained a blurred picture of the two together, and based on the characteristics, fans have speculated that the player is Porter. Porter visited Taiwan in September 2023, which gives some credence to this theory. According to this report, Xiao A La had received a private invitation from a man who was staying in the presidential suite at the hotel. Xiao did not know who he was and only later found out that he was an NBA player. Xiao A La, who underwent gender reassignment surgery in Thailand in 2020, did not go into detail regarding the meeting. Xiao did reveal, though, that she accidentally broke her tooth and required emergency treatment the following day. With Porter at the center of all this, fans dug up comments he made on his Curious Mike podcast in 2024. 'I hear wild stories about some of these dudes," Porter said. "... Their fetishes get so crazy. They might be a straight man, but they've done so much stuff with so many pretty girls, and they have so much access to pretty girls, that now they're over here messing with [trans women], or now they're over here messing with dudes.' There is nothing wrong with any of this, of course, but there is still a stigma that gets associated. Porter is unlikely to address this subject, and he isn't obliged to either. The 27-year-old's sole focus would be on impressing when he steps out on the court for his new team. The Nets have high expectations as well, with an executive backing Porter to challenge for the scoring title. He averaged 18.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game for the Nuggets as the third option in 2024-25, and it will be interesting to see how he fares in a bigger story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Aug 3, 2025, where it first appeared.
