The brother of the murderer of Danielle Lloyd who has never revealed where he hid the body of his niece says it was 'unthinkable' when he was told of the heinous crime.
Stuart Campbell was jailed for life in December 2002 for the kidnap and murder of the 15-year-old schoolgirl. Danielle left home in Tilbury, Essex on June 18, 2001, to catch a bus to school when Campbell lured her into his blue transit van and abducted her. Her devastated parents never saw her again and, cruelly, Campbell has never confessed to the killing nor said where her body is.
His brother Alix Sharkey said the truth was 'unthinkable' when he heard Campbell was involved. He told MailOnline: 'At first, unable to believe my brother could be involved in such a sickening crime, I'd hoped it would turn out to be a hideous case of mistaken identity.
"After all, only five years earlier, Danielle had been a bridesmaid at Stuart and Debbie's wedding alongside my own daughter Fiona.
'How do you cope when you discover your younger brother – the once bright and cherubic little boy who had a beautiful singing voice and went to private school – is a sex offender and a killer? And worse still, the clues were there all along, but you had never realised.
'Our brotherly connection means I still cannot say I hate Stuart, though obviously I can never love him as I once did. Almost 24 years on from her death, I still hope one day Stuart does the right thing and tells them where she is buried.'
Mr Sharkey previously said his brother should not be released until he says where Danielle is. He said: 'I do not believe my brother should be released until he discloses what he did with Danielle Jones' body.
'Her parents have been through a living hell. They have never had closure. My brother hasn't even given them their daughter so they have a place to grieve.'
Danielle's disappearance led to a search of more than 1,500 locations. Campbell was arrested within weeks and found guilty at trial after a pair of white stockings with Danielle's DNA on them were discovered at his home.
He was also found to have faked texts from Danielle and lied about where he was at the time of the murder. In 2019, Danielle's mother, Linda Jones, said she did not want Campbell to be released from prison if he did not reveal where her body was.
She said she backs Helen's Law, named after murdered Helen McCourt, which aims to prevent parole for killers who refuse to reveal the location of their victim's body.

An investigation has been launched into a video allegedly showing a prison governor walking out of a brothel, MailOnline can reveal. Footage shows a man dressed in a grey suit and a white shirt walking out of a door between two shuttered shopfronts in Sheffield. He briefly glances to one side before walking out of view of the camera, which appears to be on a vehicle dashboard. MailOnline has shared the video with the Ministry of Justice, which confirmed the incident is 'currently under internal investigation'. If criminals became aware a prison governor had visited a brothel they could use this information for blackmail, one former governor warned today. The premises, GFE, describes itself as a 'premier massage parlour' that offers 'the best choice of girls, all excited, fun and guaranteed to offer you satisfaction'. When a MailOnline reporter visited the seedy establishment, he was told to go into the waiting area. Three skimpily dressed women then appeared from behind a curtain and offered their services. A receptionist confirmed they all provided GFE - girlfriend experience - in which sex workers perform intimate acts. The other male customer then selected one of the women. At this point, the reporter left. The premises shown in the video is at one end of a row of shops and next door to a massage parlour. There is also an increased focus on the deteriorating security situation in British jails after several serious assaults on guards. MailOnline knows the name of the prison governor who is alleged to be in the video. One insider at his jail said: 'This video was the talk of the town when the video emerged. Everyone was saying is it him or isn't it him? 'If it is him he has not really done any harm to anyone apart from his marriage, but one thing is for sure - he appears to have f****d up royally.' Ian Acheson, who worked for the Prison Service for over a decade and held a variety of senior roles, said the footage was concerning. 'By virtue of their huge discretionary power, prison governors are particularly vulnerable if their behaviour can be exploited by criminals,' he told MailOnline. 'Blackmail and corruption are the most obvious examples. An investigation shows that these unproven allegations are being taken seriously. 'The public rightly expect a very high standard of personal conduct from senior law enforcement officials. We should also respect due process in this case.' Reviews of GFE posted on Google. A Prison Service spokesman said: 'This incident is currently under internal investigation. It would be inappropriate to comment further until this has concluded.' Last month, a male warden was taken to hospital with 'serious injuries' after being stabbed at HMP Long Lartin. It followed a string of other assaults involving prisoners, including Manchester Arena terrorist Hashem Abedi. Meanwhile, convicted murderer John Mansfield was killed during a brutal attack at a high security prison in April. The 63-year-old was hit in the head with a weight, MailOnline revealed at the time. Experts have warned of a 'collapse in security' across the UK prison system amid what the prison officers' union described as 'out of control' violence.

April Jones' family join calls for a new criminal offence
The Prime Minister has been invited to meet with the family of murdered Machynlleth girl April Jones to discuss the creation of a new criminal offence for desecrating a body. April was only five years old when she went missing on the evening of October 1, 2012, after playing on her bike with friends near her home on the Bryn-y-Gog estate. Her disappearance shocked the nation and became the biggest search in British police history with specialist teams scouring around 40 square miles over six months. Paedophile and former slaughterman Mark Bridger, 47, was given a whole life sentence for April's abduction and murder, as well as being convicted for perverting the course of justice of disposing, concealing or destroying the girl's body. There had been strong evidence of a burnt human skull found in the fireplace of Bridger's cottage in Ceinws, which was a 10-minute drive from April's home. Mark Bridger was convicted of April's abduction and murder. The families of people who have been murdered, including Michael O'Leary and Sarah Everard, have called on the Prime Minister to create a new criminal offence of desecrating a body. At Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday (June 11), Sir Keir Starmer was asked to meet with the families of people who have been murdered and hear their plea to make it a crime to desecrate a body. 'I think we all need to listen to what they have to say… 'I'm sure the justice minister will be in touch at the first opportunity to take this forward.' Mr O'Leary, a 55-year-old father of three, was shot dead by his friend Andrew Jones in 2020, after Jones found out the victim was having an affair with his wife. He then burned Mr O'Leary's body on a funeral pyre made of wood pallets, and tried to make it look like he killed himself. Sarah Everard, 33, was kidnapped and murdered by off-duty police officer Wayne Couzens in 2021, who then burned her body in the woods. Helen McCourt was 22 years old when she was killed while walking home in Merseyside, and her murderer never revealed the location of her body. Her mother, Marie McCourt, has campaigned for Helen's Law, which would make it a criminal offence to conceal a body, and Helen's Law 2, which would make a new offence of desecrating a body.

Inspector ‘disappointed' to be injured by alleged sword attacker, court hears
Marcus Arduini Monzo, 37, killed, skinned and deboned his pet cat Wizard before he launched a 20-minute spree of violence in Hainault, north-east London, on April 30 last year, the Old Bailey has heard. During the rampage, he virtually decapitated Daniel and attacked a pedestrian, two police officers and a couple in their own home, jurors have heard. One witness described Monzo screaming 'in delight' after mortally wounding the schoolboy who had been wearing his PE kit with his earphones on. Afterwards, he likened events to the Holywood movie The Hunger Games and claimed to have an alternative personality of a 'professional assassin'. On Thursday, Inspector Moloy Campbell told jurors how he was injured as he tried to detain Monzo. Before arriving at the scene, he heard on the radio that one of his colleagues had been stabbed. A member of the public waved him down and pointed towards a car park and garage area. Mr Campbell told jurors: 'Our purpose was to arrest and protect the other officers. I decided to confront the defendant.' He sprayed him first but the defendant 'blocked' the move and 'came for' the officer, jurors heard. Mr Campbell went on: 'I dropped my spray and drew my baton. I struck him or attempted to strike him. I believe I connected with him at least twice. 'Mr Monzo was slashing at me with a large sword. He made contact with my hand and certainly with my bodyworn camera.' Asked how he felt, the officer told jurors: 'I was disappointed to put it bluntly because it meant I could not carry on what I was trying to do.' Trial judge Mr Justice Bennathan observed: 'Presumably you were terrified because someone is slashing at you with a sword.' The witness replied: 'It was frightening. I remember my priority to try to carry on.' He said he saw blood when he looked down at his hand and his baton was also covered in blood. Ms Campbell said he found himself 'backed into a corner' and withdrew, and asked a colleague to put a tourniquet on his thumb. He was treated at the scene and taken to hospital as the defendant was detained and arrested a short time later, the court was told. Previously, the court has heard how Monzo launched a series of attacks by driving his grey Ford Transit van into Donato Iwule, who was 'catapulted' into a nearby garden before the vehicle smashed into a concrete pillar and fence. He went on to hit Mr Iwule in the neck with his sword before running away, it is alleged. He then virtually decapitated Daniel, who was wearing headphones on his way to school, jurors have heard. In a statement read to the court, Maria Olmos described Monzo's reaction after the attack saying: 'As he fell to his knees, the man raised both his arms to the sky. 'At the time of doing so he let out an extremely loud scream. It wasn't a scream of pain, it was a scream of delight – my interpretation was he was celebrating. 'His eyes and mouth were wide open when he screamed.' Jurors were shown further CCTV and police body-worn camera footage of Monzo running through the residential area armed with a Samurai sword. Pc Yasmin Mechem-Whitfield pursued the armed defendant through a series of alleyways through residential properties, the court heard. Monzo struck her three times with the sword that had a 60cm blade using 'extreme force', the prosecutor said. It is alleged the defendant entered a property and attacked a couple who were sleeping in an upstairs bedroom with their young daughter nearby. Forensic pathologist Dr Ashley Fegan-Earl told jurors that Daniel's injuries were 'absolutely unsurvivable'. He said that Daniel's cause of death was sharp force trauma to the head and that Monzo had used 'an extreme level of force'. Monzo denies Daniel's murder and the attempted murders of Mr Iwule, Sindy Arias, Henry De Los Rios Polania and Ms Mechem-Whitfield, as well as wounding Mr Campbell with intent. He also denies aggravated burglary and possession of a bladed article relating to a kitchen knife. Monzo previously admitted two counts of having an offensive weapon, namely two swords.
