Time-travelling estate agent stars in Newport sci-fi novel

Eric Meek is the unlikely star of The Time-Travelling Estate Agent, a science fiction series by Newport author Dale Bradford.
Launched in November 2024, the debut novel has remained in Amazon's top 30 bestselling time travel books since release, with the recently published sequel climbing the same charts.
Dale Bradford, author of the series, said: "The Time-Travelling Estate Agent has certainly found an audience and I've been delighted to read so many positive reviews.
"Eric has proven to be a very popular character and following the BBC Panorama broadcast, and the earlier Sell House Fast study, he might even be helping to improve the public's view of the profession."
Mr Meek, however, is not your average estate agent.
In the first book, he discovers a time portal in a client's garage, the accidental result of experiments inspired by electrical engineer Nikola Tesla.
The portal allows travel between the present day and July 3, 1976, – the day that 16-year-old Eric believes shaped the rest of his life.
Given the chance to revisit his past, Eric faces the question: will he change history, or will history change him?
The trilogy blends sci-fi, murder mystery, and romantic comedy, with nods to films such as Groundhog Day and 50 First Dates.
Set in and around Cwmbran, the series draws on Mr Bradford's childhood in South Wales.
Mr Bradford now lives in Newport and has transitioned to full-time writing after a career in journalism and magazine editing.
He was editor of Indie Magazine from 1995 to 2003 and later edited Erotic Trade Only until 2025.
In 2023 he published his first non-fiction book, From Sex Shops To Supermarkets: How Adult Toys Became A Multi‑Billion‑Pound Industry.
Both The Time-Travelling Estate Agent and its sequel are available in ebook, paperback, and hardback formats, and are free to read on Kindle Unlimited.
The first book has earned four or five stars from 84 per cent of readers, with the sequel receiving similar praise from 100 per cent of reviewers.
The third and final instalment of the trilogy is expected to be released in early 2026.

'Lightweight and stylish' easyJet cabin bag drops to £38 in limited time deal

'Excellent product, such a game changer not having to carry hand luggage. Beautifully made, quality case.' As we come to the end of July, many of us are still looking forward to going on last minute getaways to soak in some much needed vitamin D before heading back to work. However, before you start trying to cram all your essential items into your cabin case, you need to make sure your bag fits your specific airline requirements. Unfortunately, not all airlines have the same baggage allowances, which means travellers could end up being charged extra when boarding if their 'free' small bag is larger than allowed. If shoppers don't want to add unexpected charges to their holiday bill, it is best to follow your airline's guidance. For those travelling with easyJet and don't want the struggle of lugging around an over the shoulder bag, Amazon has reduced the price of the Flight Knight Underseat Cabin Bag that has dimensions of 45x36x20cm. Normally retailing for £44.99, shoppers can now get the 'stylish' cream and brown case for £38.24. Shoppers can pick between over 30 different colourways, however some of them may not be included in the limited time deal or are out of stock in the easyJet dimensions. Boasting a 25L capacity, shoppers will be able to load this cabin case with all their holiday essentials, making it the ideal purchase for those going on a quick weekend away and don't want to pay for a hold case. Equipped with fully lined compartments and various pockets, this case will ensure your belongings stay safe while in the air. Crafted with a tough ABS design, this nifty cabin case is anti-scratch and water-resistant, and also comes with a combination barrel padlock to provide extra security. Featuring four wheels and a three step telescoping handle, this case will provide travellers with maximum comfort and smooth navigation during the airport rush. Flight Knight EasyJet Cabin Bag £44.99 £38.24 Amazon Buy Now Product Description For those looking for something a bit cheaper, Amazon has also reduced the price of the ATX Cabin Suitcase that fits easyJet's under seat requirements. Normally retailing for £34.99, shoppers can grab the bright yellow edition for £29.74 and enjoy next day delivery. Alternatively, for those who want the added versatility of being able to use your case as either a pull along or a backpack, Aerolite has knocked 66 per cent off their easyJet Premium Backpack Trolley Bag. Usually retailing for £159.99, shoppers can now grab this handy bag for only £52.99. Back to the Flight Knight cabin bag, it currently boasts a 4.3 star rating from over 5,600 shoppers. On top of this, it is currently one of Amazon's top choices for travel luggage. One happy shopper said: "Fits perfectly in the new restricted size carry on board! Really love this case, wheels beautifully and looks stylish." With another five-star reviewer adding: "So easy to use and stylish used it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and is the perfect size for on cabin bag for easyjet. I had more than enough room for my stuff for a four day trip, love that the wheels swivel quality is better than expected and it's so light weight even with all my stuff in." However, one shopper did grumble about the handle, writing: "This is perfect in every way it's just a shame the handle pulling up keeps getting stuck." With another customer adding: "Is only suitable for EasyJet standards, not for other ones." Flight Knight also has small cabin bags available for other airlines such as Ryanair and Wizz Air, so shoppers can looking around for the bag that would be applicable for their travels. Despite this, one top reviewer commented: "Excellent product, such a game changer not having to carry hand luggage. Beautifully made, quality case. Fast and efficient service. Would highly recommend this seller." While a sixth shopper gushed: "I loved this case and it's perfect for what I needed it for, had no problems using it as a carry on with easyJet!" I'm obsessed with the £3.99 Lidl middle aisle holiday buy that is taking over hotel pools this summer

DIP IN I'm obsessed with the £3.99 Lidl middle aisle holiday buy that is taking over hotel pools this summer Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THERE'S a trend sweeping family hotel pools this summer - and no, I'm not talking about sun lounger hogging. At my TUI Village hotel in Turkey last week, I spotted more than a hundred 'water hammocks' that were identical to the one I bought from the Lidl middle aisle in June. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Lidl's £3.99 middle aisle buy is the holiday accessory of the summer Credit: Lidl The pool accessory works like a lilo, with inflatable tubes at each end and a mesh in the middle where your body lies. On a trip to Spain last month, the story was the same - the water hammock reigned supreme at the hotel pool. A straw poll of parents lounging by the pool in Turkey showed that the majority of them also picked theirs up for £3.99 from Lidl - the Blue Crivit Water Hammock. However, a decent proportion also bought theirs from Amazon, where a two-pack in pink and blue will set you back £15.99, or alternatively, John Lewis is selling a chic palm print version for £9.60. I only bought one in the Lidl flash sale, but I'll be stocking up on more next year because they make the perfect foreign holiday lilo. Why? Because the fact that most of it's mesh - not bulky plastic - means that it's super lightweight and packs into a tiny space in the suitcase. Gone are the days when I reluctantly shell out a fortune abroad, because I didn't have the space or kg allowance to take an inflatable on the plane with me. I could easily take three in a suitcase and barely notice them in the bag. The minimal inflatable space also means a: far less time to blow up, b: it takes up a lot less space in the hotel room and is easy to transport to and from the pool or beach, and c: there is less surface space for punctures. Speaking of travel hacks, 2025 was also the year that I finally tried out packing cubes, and I can't believe it took me so long. On a 14-day multi-stop trip to South Africa in April, there was no way I could do my usual unpack-the-moment-I-check-in routine, given that we were staying in eight different places. So I bought a few sets of 12 for £9 from Amazon, and everything was painstakingly divided up into different cubes - one for my son's T-shirts, one for shorts, one for my sweaters... and so on. 2 The water hammock is great for family holidays, because it's much smaller and lighter than your average pool lilo Credit: Getty It made the experience so much simpler, because everything was easy to find within 3 seconds of opening up the suitcase - with no rifling around. Since then, I've reverted to emptying the bag as soon as I arrive if it's a one-stop holiday, but anything with more than two locations or less than three nights will have me reaching for the packing cubes from now on.
