Apple has announced 13 car makers that are offering iPhone car keys — but when are they coming
At least 20 brands already offer keyless entry, including BMW, Genesis and Hyundai. Essentially, you can add a digital key to your Wallet app, which will enable you to lock, unlock, and start compatible cars using your iPhone or Apple Watch.
So, who's adding digital keys?
Unfortunately, Apple did not provide a timeline or many other details on when digital keys would be available for cars from those manufacturers.
Apple has a web page that lists all of the vehicles that support Apple CarPlay, and there's also a little key symbol that shows you which compatible cars work with digital keys. It can be hard to miss since the symbol is a small, light gray key.
You may notice that some of the brands adding digital keys already offer CarPlay support.
Speaking of CarPlay, with iOS 26, an updated CarPlay is coming to your iPhone and vehicle. Despite being in beta, we found it to be an improvement.

During WWDC, Apple also announced CarPlay Ultra, which is intended to be built into select vehicle manufacturers' vehicles. However, that is seeing some early problems, as some promised car makers are already backing out.

Before you start thinking iPhones will soon be powered by Exynos processors, let's examine what Apple is saying exactly and the history between the two companies as far as manufacturing iPhone components is concerned. As part of its announcement of investing an additional $100 billion in the US over the next four years, Apple said that it will procure chips from Samsung's Austin factory for a number of its products, including its phones. 'This facility will supply chips that optimize power and performance of Apple products, including iPhone devices,' Apple said in a statement. While it's unclear just how big a role these Samsung chips will play in shaping Apple's A series processors, it's certainly interesting to see the two tech giants joining hands for crucial iPhone components. While Samsung currently doesn't have any role in manufacturing any part of the iPhone's A series processors — that's a job for TSMC — the South Korean company has been a long-time supplier of displays, RAM, and memory chips for iPhones. Samsung also historically manufactured Apple's A series chips for iPhone, specifically from the A4 chip used on the iPhone 4 through to the A9 chip used in the iPhone 6s. After the A9 chip, however, Apple moved its chip production to TSMC. It would be a big deal if Samsung once again started making the A series chips for Apple out of the US, but that's unlikely to happen. Apple is already expected to utilize TSMC's 3nm process for its A19 and A19 Pro chips, which will power the iPhone 17 lineup. Follow

Your iPhone's missing volume bar is back — here's how to enable it
Apple removed the volume bar from iPhone lock screens when iOS 16 launched, forcing users to rely solely on physical volume buttons for audio adjustments. While those buttons work fine, they only let you increase or decrease volume in set increments, often leaving you stuck between too loud and too quiet. The good news is that iOS 18 brought back the option to display a volume slider directly on your lock screen, giving you precise control over audio levels without unlocking your device. Whether you're listening to music at the gym, podcasts on your commute, or videos at home, having that familiar volume bar back makes fine-tuning audio much more convenient. Here's how to bring back the volume bar. Tap the Settings app on your iPhone's home screen to get started with bringing back the volume bar. Scroll down until you see "Accessibility" and tap on it to open the accessibility menu. This section contains various features designed to make your iPhone easier to use, including the option to restore the lock screen volume bar. Look for the "Hearing" category within Accessibility settings and you'll see several options listed underneath it. Tap on "Audio & Visual" which contains settings related to how your iPhone handles sound and visual feedback. The "Always Show Volume Control" option is located within this Audio & Visual submenu. Find the "Always Show Volume Control" option in the Audio & Visual menu and you'll see a toggle switch next to it. Tap the toggle to turn it on — it should turn green when enabled. Once enabled, the setting takes effect immediately and will work the next time you adjust volume while your phone is locked. Lock your iPhone and start playing some music or a podcast to test the restored volume bar functionality. Press either volume button on the side of your phone and you should now see the familiar volume slider appear on your lock screen. Try sliding the volume bar with your finger to make precise adjustments rather than being limited to the fixed increments of the physical buttons. The volume bar will now appear on your lock screen every time you're playing audio and adjust the volume using either the physical buttons or by tapping directly on the slider. The volume bar automatically disappears after a few seconds, keeping your lock screen looking clean.
