Celtic and Rangers learn potential Champions League play-off round opponents
Elsewhere, previous winners Benfica were drawn against either Feyenoord or Fenerbahce, while FC Basel will take on Malmo or F.C. Copenhagen.
Brendan Rodgers ' side reached the knockout round play-off stage of the competition last season from the 36-team league phase, where they lost 3-2 on aggregate to German giants Bayern Munich.
Slovan Bratislava are the Slovakian champions and the country's most successful club, having secured their 30th league title last year.
The last time they met Celtic was last season, when the Scottish side won 5-1 in the opening game of the Champions League group phase.
FC Kairat, from Almaty, are champions of the Kazakhstan Premier League. Despite their domestic success, the club have never made the group or league phase in any competition.
Rangers will take on Austrian side Salzburg or Club Brugge of Belgium in the play-off round if they get through their third qualifier against Viktoria Plzen.
Russell Martin 's side, who reached the third qualifier with a 3-1 aggregate win over Greek side Panathinaikos, take on the Czech club in the first leg at Ibrox on Tuesday night.
Club Brugge finished second in the Belgian League last season, and reached the last-16 of the Champions League before losing 6-1 on aggregate to Aston Villa.
Salzburg finished a narrow second in the Austrian Bundesliga behind Sturm Graz, having come a low 34th in the league phase table in this competition.
The play-offs are the last round of qualifying matches before the 'competition proper' begins in September with the league phase, with ties taking place in the weeks of 18/19 August and 26/27 August.
Both Old Firm clubs are at home for the first leg of the play-off round, which will be played on August 19 or 20. The return fixture will take place on August 26 or 27.

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is set to miss a significant portion of the upcoming season after undergoing successful surgery for an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. The Blues kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Crystal Palace on August 17, but Enzo Maresca will not have the 22-year-old at his disposal after Colwill sustained the injury in training at their Cobham base. FanDuel owner raises profit forecast as gamblers' winning streak ends
DUBLIN, Aug 7 (Reuters) - FanDuel-owner Flutter raised its forecast for full-year profit growth on Thursday after a six-month-long winning streak for U.S. gamblers swung sharply back in the favour of bookmakers during a better-than-expected second quarter. Bookmakers tend to suffer when favourites win and Flutter, the world's largest online betting company, cut its U.S. core profit guidance by $180 million in May following a series of unlikely customer-friendly sports results. Less favorable outcomes for punters in the second quarter allowed it to claw $100 million of that back and increase its group-wide profit forecast to $3.3 billion from $3.18 billion in May, which would represent 40% year-on-year growth. Flutter's second-quarter adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of $919 million, up 25% year-on-year, were above the $816 million expected by an average of eight analysts with LSEG SmartEstimate. Core profit at FanDuel, which had market-leading 41% and 27% shares of the U.S. sports betting and iGaming markets, jumped 54% to $400 million during the quarter. Flutter's international division, which includes the Paddy Power, Betfair and Sisal brands, grew its profits by 13% to $591 million, with more than two-thirds of revenue growth attributed to recently completed acquisitions in Italy and Brazil. Flutter said it is closely monitoring U.S. regulatory developments in the event contracts market and assessing the potential participation strategies this may present. Event contracts, which allow traders to bet on specific outcomes and profit from predictions on everything from sports and entertainment to politics and the economy, have exploded in popularity in the U.S. since last year's presidential election.
