5 The Azure returned to form last start, closing in well for third over this distance. He will map well in the run from barrier 2 and launch his usual late bid.
8 Dragon Star turned in a promising second first-up. It has been 504 days between wins, but he can make his own luck up on the pace.
4 Satirical Fan is a one-time winner from 11 starts, but he ticked a few boxes on his third run back in Class 4. With a well-timed ride, he is not without hope.
Race 3 (1,000m)
7 Glory Elite stuck on well for fourth last start over 1,200m at Sha Tin. There are plenty of in-form rivals to contend with at his second spin around the city circuit, but a measured ride on the lead could see him pinch it.
8 Colourful King has won back-to-back races in Class 3, and his last success was brilliant as he dashed clear by two lengths. He is up in Class 2 for the first time, but his swift turn of foot will make him hard to hold out late.
2 Aurora Lady boasts better form over 1,200m but the drop back in trip is not a big concern. His form is solid, including a last-start second, and he has the tactical speed to take up a forward position.
3 Red Elegance is a winner of his last two starts and tackles Class 2 for the first time. As a four-time track-and-distance winner, he cannot be ignored.
Race 4 (1,200m)
5 Nebraskan was collared late last start, and he finished second two starts back. A good trial win suggests he is holding form.
2 Everstar has been catching the eye since dropping to Class 4 - drawn wide two runs back and closed off strongly into fifth, then a close-up fourth last time after racing wide. With a bit of luck, he is right in the thick of it.
3 Happy Trio won three starts back and backed that up with minor placings at his next two. He is drawn ideally in barrier 2.
10 Super Sicario has drawn no lower than barrier 10 in four starts. There was merit to his last-start 11th, and although drawn horribly wide again in barrier 11, it would not surprise to see him improve.
Race 5 (1,800m)
6 Mission Strike may have found the 2,000m a stretch too far last start. But his previous run over 1,800m, where he charged home late into second behind Beauty Alliance, is the run to focus on.
1 Harmony Galaxy broke through last start with a drop in the ratings and a rise to 1,800m. He can do it again.
2 Prestige Good posted back-to-back thirds in Class 4. This is his second attempt over 1,800m and, with only five Hong Kong starts, there should be more improvement to come.
4 Can't Go Wong was swamped late by a head into second last start. He is a reliable track-and-distance performer that cannot be ignored.
Race 6 (1,200m)
1 Giddy Up had his first start in Class 4 last time and finished second. Barrier 1 provides the perfect opportunity for him to win.
5 Endued is at his third attempt in Class 4 and his first run for Benno Yung's stable. The 3YO was impressive in a recent barrier trial and can improve further.
7 Crystal Powerful won two runs back at the top of Class 5 before returning to Class 4 and won twice over 1,000m. As a two-time winner over 1,200m, the trip holds no fear.
2 Perfect General ran third last time. Given a 42-day freshen-up, he has since won a trial heat and can bounce back.
Race 7 (1,200m)
7 Solid Car is building towards his first Hong Kong win. Last start, from barrier 11, he was ridden for luck out the back before surging late into fifth, beaten 1½ lengths by Beauty Destiny. With a bit more luck, he can get his nose in front.
1 Spicy Gold is better suited to this course and distance where he has performed best, following a late-fading sixth to Another World over 1,400m at Sha Tin last time. Barrier 1 gives him every chance to secure a soft run.
5 Storm Rider lost by a head last start and the writing on the wall that another win is near.
9 Lo Pan Spirit will need luck from barrier 11, but he comes off two encouraging thirds.
Race 8 (1,650m)
2 Hameron may have finished 2½ lengths away in fourth last start, but he was held up late and looked to have more to give. Zac Purton picks up the ride, and that key jockey booking adds plenty of confidence for a big run.
11 Sturdy Ruby ran from last to seventh from barrier 12 last time. He showed from an inside draw two runs back that he can settle much closer, and that second to M Unicorn reads strongly for this.
5 Definitive has the gate speed. He has just seven starts for one win and two seconds, but holds his form well with an impressive trial.
8 Flying Fortress posted his first local win last time. With only six local runs under his belt, he still has upside.
Race 9 (1,200m)
6 Golden Rise closed in nicely for fourth last time in a slowly run race. This marks his third attempt in Class 3 and he looks on track to notch a win in the grade soon. Barrier 1 sets things up well for him.
1 Kaholo Angel contested a hot race at Sha Tin last start, following a win two runs ago. Back at the city circuit, he is a strong chance.
9 Victory Sky is nearing his first Hong Kong win after placing in two of his last three starts, including a promising first try at this course and distance last start. However, barrier 11 is not ideal.
4 Dragon Four Seas rises to Class 3 for the first time after back-to-back wins, both at this track and trip. His on-pace racing pattern ensures he maps well, if he can overcome barrier 10 early.

Race to replace Mitch McConnell heats up on stage: 3 takeaways from Fancy Farm 2025
FANCY FARM, Ky. — The three high-profile Republicans gunning for longtime U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell's seat gathered under one roof this weekend alongside the man they're running to replace. Yeah, there were some fireworks. The annual Fancy Farm political picnic was absent of Democrats in 2025, save for John "Drew" Williams, an enthusiastic West Kentucky native running a longshot bid to unseat U.S. Rep. James Comer, who had plenty of buzz of his own. But it wasn't absent of drama. After months of potshots before and after they'd officially entered the race, U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron and Lexington businessman Nate Morris finally had a chance to trade barbs in person, with a raucous crowd cheering and jeering and McConnell joining them on stage. It was, to sum it up, Fancy Farm. Here's a quick look at some of the highlights. Morris vs. McConnell — and everyone else McConnell, a Fancy Farm staple for more than 40 years, stayed above the fray on stage at the picnic. With protesters chanting "ceasefire now," he stuck to his script of ripping former President Joe Biden and Democrats and promoting his ties to President Donald Trump, who he's clashed with at times over the past decade. But he was more pointed earlier in the day at the Graves County Republican Breakfast. While speaking to audience members, McConnell — whose planned attendance at the weekend event was not announced ahead of time — noted one candidate running to replace him has said they don't want to be like him, a clear reference to Morris. "I'm wondering how you'd want to be different from the longest-serving Senate leader in U.S. history?" McConnell said. Morris, who did not join Barr and Cameron in standing and applauding when speakers praised the senator throughout the day, had plenty to say in response. McConnell "helped push lawfare against President Trump," he said after arriving at the event, "blamed January 6 on President Trump' and "wrote blank checks for Ukraine." Here's a round up from Fancy Farm Both Cameron and Barr criticized Morris for continuing to sit while McConnell was being recognized, though they took care to draw a line in the sand between their beliefs and those of the incumbent senator. But they weren't shy about coming after each other once they had the mic. Cameron said Barr "wants you to think he's America First, but it's hard to believe him when he voted with Nancy Pelosi 1,200 times." And Morris "wants you to think he's tough, but when he was asked about his donation in the primary to Nikki Haley over Donald Trump, rather than own up to it, his first thought was to throw his wife under the bus." In a recent interview with Spectrum TV, Morris said a contribution to Haley's 2024 primary campaign against Trump came after he "got stuck with the bill for a dinner that my wife attended" where Haley spoke. "Nate, that's not tough talk, that's a night in the doghouse," Cameron told the crowd. Morris founded the waste management company Rubicon and has used his background as a "trash man" in his campaign, joking that it's time to take out the trash in Washington, D.C. and running an ad that shows him throwing away a McConnell cardboard cutout. He arrived at Fancy Farm in a garbage truck branded with his campaign logo, surrounded by supporters wearing orange vests. Morris, he said, "calls himself the trash man, but dumpster fire is more like it," as he once voiced some understanding for racial justice protesters in a 2020 letter to employees and did not rush workers back to in-person work in April 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic. "It's been a tough couple of years for Nate," Barr joked. "His company collapsed, Nikki Haley lost the primary, Brooks Brothers stopped making his favorite COVID mask and now Trump is phasing out the penny. How in the world is anyone going to be able to buy Rubicon stock?" And as he roasted Gov. Andy Beshear, Barr threw in a shot at the governor's opponent in the 2023 gubernatorial campaign, conveniently on stage with him — "You know, I'd say anyone could beat (Beshear), but I wouldn't want to offend Daniel Cameron." Morris took it a step further. He took aim at McConnell as "a senior citizen who freezes on national television during his press conferences," equating him with Biden in age and demeanor, and said his presence alongside Barr and Cameron felt like "bring your boys to work day." Barr is "a fully owned subsidiary of Mitch McConnell," he added, and Cameron "managed to choke like a dog and lose the general election to Andy Beshear and our commonwealth in a state that Trump won by 30 points." Morris took by far the most boos from the crowd, a far cry from the warm reception he received at his campaign's opening rally alongside conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. McConnell spoke early in the event and had left the stage by the time the three Senate candidates spoke. But Morris had a vocal set of supporters as well, including state Rep. John Hodgson, R-Fisherville, who donned an orange vest like the rest of his backers. He's friends with Cameron and Barr too, Hodgson said, but he's "always supported candidates that are outsiders. Disrupters break up the status quo." One Democrat speaks up Beshear was nowhere to be seen, due to a "scheduling conflict" that was the butt of plenty of jokes. Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman made an appearance at the Democrats' annual bean supper dinner the night before the Aug. 2 picnic but did not speak or attend the event the following day. And state Rep. Pamela Stevenson, a Louisville Democrat who's currently the frontrunner for the party's nomination for Senate, didn't show either. Instead, it was Williams — a 32-year-old dock builder who's proud to tell you he's helped revitalize his hometown of Benton's annual Tater Day celebration — left to take the stage alone. Some credit is due. The boos and the sea of "Comer for Congress" signs he faced didn't stop him. He told The Courier Journal he's in the race to "bring people back to the table, make sure that people are heard and their voices and concerns are heard." "These spaces need us here and need our voices, and we're never going to get that unless we show up and we're in," Williams said. Still, you could tell he was outnumbered. Comer shook his hand before they both spoke but later joked he didn't know his opponent's name and presented him with a mock endorsement from President Joe Biden "signed by the autopen" as a show of good sportsmanship because "we know Andy Beshear won't endorse him ... and I'm pretty confident that no national leaders will come campaign for him." In 2025, Fancy Farm is a Republican show. State Rep. Michael Meredith, R-Oakland, noted that hasn't always been the case in his 14 years in office and more that two decades of attending the event. "This year was probably the most stark contrast we've seen," Meredith said after the speeches. "When I first started coming 21 years ago, the very first time I was here, it was probably two-thirds Democrat and a third Republican. Republicans have just had electoral success, they've had success in changing party registrations in this part of the state, and it's like after years of dominance, the Democrats have decided because they're not dominant anymore (then) it's irrelevant." Comer, Coleman and the governor's race He's not on the ballot yet. But Comer is already getting plenty of buzz ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial race, where a term-limited Beshear will not be on the ballot and Republicans have a strong chance to take back the governor's mansion. Agriculture Commissioner Johnathan Shell openly told the crowd "Governor Comer" has a nice ring to it. And the congressman, who's running for reelection in 2026, did the opposite of shutting down speculation. "The governor's race is two years away. I don't think it's any secret I'm very interested in that," he told reporters after speeches ended. "... I'm getting a lot of encouragement from people all over Kentucky, so it's something that we're looking very seriously at, but it's going to be another year before that decision." He has an idea of who he may face in the general election if he enters the race and advances through the primary — Coleman, Beshear's lieutenant governor. She has not said what she plans to do after her time in her current role ends. Rocky Adkins, a former candidate and special advisor to Beshear, has also been mentioned as a potential candidate. But Comer said he doesn't believe voters in Louisville and Lexington will line up to back Adkins due to his previous support for some anti-abortion legislation and other stances more in line with conservative voters. "Right now, Jackie Coleman's the overwhelming favorite to be the Democrat nominee for governor," Comer predicted. The 65th Annual TV WEEK Logie Awards has arrived, with some of Australia's most popular television personalities making their way down the red carpet at The Star Sydney. All eyes will be on the seven Gold Logie nominees, with a record six women in the running to make it the first time since 2011 female nominations have outweighed the male nominations. Favourite Lynne McGranger may be anticipating victory with her dress choice this evening, wearing a golden gown to the Logies. Whether it be slip-ups, drunken antics or a joke too far, the Logies delivers plenty of shocks, even from those you least expect. One moment that came to light years after it happened was Tracy Grimshaw's embarrassing hotel mix-up. "I locked myself out of my hotel room starkers. It was 3:45am and there was no one in the hallway," the revered host revealed to Kyle and Jackie O about her Logies night in 1998. Grimshaw, in a presumably drunken state after drinking tequilas with James Packer into the early hours of the morning, thought she was heading to the bathroom when she opened the door into the hallway. "I realised that the guest opposite [my hotel room] had The Australian delivered. Thank god it was a broadsheet and not the Herald Sun!" she joked. Lachlan has opted for a warm turtle neck on what is a pretty miserable afternoon in Sydney with plenty of wind and rain. However the conditions are not impacting proceedings too much, thankfully. What food is served at the Logies? While we know there's plenty of drinks had at the Logies, what is the food like? Well according to Travel Guides stars Karly Fisher and Bri Auty, it certainly matches the occasion. The pair, who are hoping their show wins Best Lifestyle Program for the fourth year in a row, revealed to Yahoo what was on the menu last year. "I had gold-encrusted lamb. [Bri] had fish, which then I think I ate as well,' Karly recalls. 'And then there was dessert. I've actually got a video of me eating them all. I did a kind of mukbang on my phone, eating all these desserts. They were stunning. 'There was a lava cake, but not a Domino's lava cake. It was like a proper, bougie lava cake. I will say the food was what I was probably most looking forward to, and it did not disappoint. It was so yummy.' The public broadcaster has a total of 44 nominations. Commercial network Nine is the closet competition with 23 (up to 32 if you include streaming platform Stan which it owns). Netflix's Apple Cider Vinegar about wellness influencer and conwoman Belle Gibson has an impressive eight nominations, although they are spread across just four awards. The streaming giant's Territory isn't far behind with seven nominations tonight. The ABC's Fisk has five, while Binge's Colin From Accounts and the ABC's Return To Paradise have four each. Netflix's Heartbreak High has three. Who is the favourite to win the Gold Logie? Cardiff target four signings with keeper 'coming in'
Cardiff City are aiming to make four signings before the transfer window closes, with a move for Copenhagen goalkeeper Nathan Trott seemingly close. The Bluebirds are yet to sign anyone this summer but are reportedly lining up the 26-year-old former England Under-20 international, who started his career at West Ham. Chairman Mehmet Dalman appeared to confirm that move was imminent when he was asked about the club's transfer dealings. "We've got a goalkeeper coming in. And we are looking to add another three players in this window," said Dalman. "I can't speak for Brian [Barry-Murphy, head coach], but I think he wanted to have a really good look at what he's got before he made any decisions. I think he has a pretty good idea of what he wants. "He is really excited by what he's got here already. Genuinely excited about it." Asked how close those signings were to being completed, Dalman added: "One is very close, but we have a problem in getting it over the line, which can be solved. "So we want to buy a goalkeeper and one other, then the other two will probably be loans. "We don't really need that many new players. I think the squad is pretty good." Following their relegation from the Championship last season, Cardiff started life in League One - and Barry-Murphy's tenure - with a 2-1 win over Peterborough United on Saturday. Speaking after the game, the new head coach said he hoped to have a signing completed before Thursday's trip to Port Vale. "Well, I said that definitely before this [Peterborough] game, so I was held to certain things about the previous press conference," he said.
