MSU target, 3-star DL Jermaine Polk commits to Rutgers following official visit

MSU target, 3-star DL Jermaine Polk commits to Rutgers following official visit One of the defensive lineman Michigan State is targeting in the 2026 class is off the board and heading to another Big Ten school. Jermaine Polk of Toledo, Ohio announced his commitment to Rutgers on Sunday afternoon. Polk took an official visit to Rutgers this weekend, which ultimately led to the Scarlet Knights sealing the deal with his commitment. Michigan State was one of five schools recently named a finalist for Polk, which didn't include Rutgers. Michigan State, Boston College, Iowa, Iowa State and Wisconsin were the five schools Polk named as his finalists in late May, but an offer from Rutgers this past week quickly changed his recruiting landscape, with the Scarlet Knights working fast to get him on campus and committed. Polk is a three-star prospect and ranks as the No. 73 defensive lineman in 247Sports' rankings for the 2026 class. He holds a recruiting rating of 88 on 247Sports as well. Michigan State landed their own defensive lineman prospect in the 2026 class, with Christopher Knauls Jr. committing to the Spartans following his official visit. So that commitment from Knauls eases the blow of Rutgers beating out Michigan State for Polk. NBA Legend Had One Word for Son Dylan Harper's Possible Teams

NBA Legend Had One Word for Son Dylan Harper's Possible Teams originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Former Rutgers Scarlet Knights guard Dylan Harper is widely projected to be selected No. 2 overall in this year's NBA draft. Back in high school, he was a five-star recruit and No. 3 overall player in the class of 2024 (247 Sports). He played one season at the college level, averaging 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. Advertisement On Wednesday afternoon, a Twitter user uploaded a meme suggesting that smaller market teams, such as the Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards and Portland Trail Blazers, could end up with the top guard. "dylan harper getting rerouted to the likes of utah, washington, or portland in the eleventh hour:," the user wrote. Ron Harper replied to the post. Dylan Harper will likely be off the board before the Jazz pick at No. 5, but Utah is still a team to watch. His father and the Bulls had a rivalry with the Jazz in the late '90s, and has been open in the past about not wanting his son to end up in Utah. He's since backtracked on his comments. Advertisement "Stop believe what I said about my son playing in @UtahJazz if me and a friend have a tweet about what team want him it's all about fun…. I don't control my son or a NBA team draft board… lol I see pictures of a few teams that I wouldn't want him on but it's not my career…..," Ron Harper posted. Regardless of what Ron Harper said, the former Rutgers star doesn't seem too concerned about where he ends up, as he expressed sincere gratitude towards his basketball journey. "This is something you dream of as a kid, I've been waiting all my life for this," Harper said at the NBA Draft combine in Chicago. D'Andre Swift shares first impression of Bears rookie Kyle Monangai

D'Andre Swift shares first impression of Bears rookie Kyle Monangai The Chicago Bears didn't make any major moves at running back this offseason, with the only addition coming with the selection of Kyle Monangai out of Rutgers in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL draft. Adding Monangai to the running back room, which will feature new position coach Eric Bieniemy, brings plenty of eyes and attention to every running back on the roster, especially D'Andre Swift. In what many, including himself, felt was a disappointing 2024 season, Swift not only vows to bounce back, but is also ready to be a mentor for his rookie teammate. Swift had high praise for Monangai, a two-time All-Big Ten selection in 2023 and 2024, and what he's done so far this offseason. "Real good, really good. Really excited for him," Swift said. "Very talented, very talented. He's cool, and he's from Jersey. I'm from Philly, he's from Jersey, so close. But he's been really good so far, excited for him." While there could be an opportunity to crack into the rotation as a rookie, it's equally as important to see the veteran Swift speak highly of him early in the offseason program. With Swift, Roschon Johnson, and Monangai, head coach Ben Johnson will have plenty of options and opportunities to utilize all three backs, who all have a different style of play and running ability.
