Delhi Police arrests businessmans cook from Odisha for stealing money
Delhi Police, with the help of Odisha Police, arrested Kashinath Mallick (30) from Bhimei Gaon under Iswarpur police outpost in Nilagiri area of Balasore district on Sunday and recovered Rs 20 lakh, the officer said.
Mallick used to work as a cook in the house of the businessman.
His two other associates used to work as domestic help, and separately, they had stolen Rs 1.10 crore from the businessman's house and had fled Delhi recently. While Mallick was arrested from his house in Balasore district, the other two, identified as Ashutosh Mallick (27) and Jagabandhu Mallick (30), were arrested from Delhi railway station and Patna Bus stand, respectively.
The police had recovered Rs 45 lakh of the looted money from them.

The probe agency had called executives of both Google and Meta, first on July 21. The officials then sought more time, citing the need to gather relevant documents and information before they present themselves for questioning and recording of their statements. However, only representatives of Google deposed, the agency said, quoting official sources. As per the PTI report, ED may have recorded the statement of a designated "compliance officer" of Google under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in addition to obtaining some documents from the company. A Google spokesperson told the news agency in a statement last week that the company was "committed to keeping our platforms safe and secure, prohibiting the promotion of illegal gambling ads." The tech companies were called to explain the mechanisms that allowed such promotions. The ED is also expected to question several celebrities and sportspersons in connection with the same probe. Earlier this month, actors Prakash Raj, Vijay Deverakonda, and Rana Daggubati and 26 other celebrities were charged by ED for endorsing betting apps. They have been accused of violating the Public Gambling Act, 1867, by promoting such gambling apps. According to the agency, the platforms under investigation were involved in cheating users and laundering money, with large-scale tax evasion also suspected. The ED is currently handling more than a dozen cases linked to illegal betting apps, including the Mahadev Online Book, which is believed to be run by individuals from Chhattisgarh. American National, Aide Arrested For Attempting To Convert Pune Man To Christianity

An American national and his aide have been arrested in Pimpri city in Pune district for allegedly trying to convert a man to Christianity by promising financial help, police said on Monday. According to the police, the accused have been identified as Schaefer Javin Jacob (41), a resident of California, currently staying near Mukai Chowk in Pune, and Steven Vijay Kadam (46), a resident of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area. Pimpri Chinchwad Police also apprehended a minor for his alleged role in the incident and later handed him over to his parents, news agency PTI reported. As per the complainant, Sunny Bansilal Danani, Jacob and Kadam tried to convert him by visiting his residence on July 27, police said. 'They claimed that converting to Christianity would bring Danani peace, prosperity, and mental well-being. They allegedly told the complainant that Jesus Christ is the only God and that other deities and religions are fictitious," said a police officer. The police state that the two allegedly offered the complainant financial help in exchange for converting to Christianity. Pimpri Police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and the Foreigners Act on a complaint lodged by Danani. 'Both the accused have been arrested, and the minor involved in the case was handed over to his parents," said the officer. Meanwhile, Jalaluddin Shah alias Chhangur Baba, who is accused of masterminding a large-scale religious conversion racket, is facing investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The 78-year-old, who is popularly known as Changur Baba, started as a taweez and gemstone seller, travelling between villages on a bicycle. He reinvented himself as 'Peer Baba' or 'Hazrat Baba Jalaluddin', in 2015, claiming to be a Sufi preacher. A resident of Rehra Ma village in Balrampur, he used his rising influence to target vulnerable individuals, often widowers, with promises of support in exchange for conversion.
