Where Was Allen Covert's Caddie Otto in Happy Gilmore 2?

Yahoo2 days ago
Happy Gilmore 2 has plenty of interesting things, including a new caddie played by Bad Bunny, replacing the fan favorite Otto, who Allen Covert portrayed in the first movie. Despite the film bringing back a ton of references from part one and most of the characters from the first film, too, Allen Covert was a rare exception.
Why was Allen Covert's Caddie Otto absent from Happy Gilmore 2?
It seems there was no reason outside the movie to replace the actor in Happy Gilmore 2, as Allen Covert continues to share a working relationship with Adam Sandler, in whose films he often appears. It seems that the reason for Covert's character being cut out is mainly narrative.
Most characters from the first film, like Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin, Julie Bowen as Virginia, Ben Stiller as Hal L., and Dennis Dugan as Doug Thompson, all came back. But the second film also aimed to introduce some new faces and some new dynamics.
This was perhaps the reason they chose to go in a different direction with a new caddie, Oscar (Bad Bunny). Interestingly, Bad Bunny's character was one of the most appealing ones in the movie. He had one of the finest arcs throughout, often helping Happy push forward in his quest.
As for Otto, Happy Gilmore 2 revealed that Otto 'moved to Switzerland for tax purposes.' The movie revealed this during a conversation where Happy tried to recruit Will Zalatoris as his caddie.
As there is hardly any reason other than trying to bring in a new character, fans can assume that Allen Covert's character was simply replaced to add this intriguing new caddie. Bad Bunny's performance was appreciated by fans and had a story arc that dragged on till the very end.
Perhaps a cameo from Covert would have been nice for the fans of the first movie. But it seems the movie did not waste the role of the caddie, which kept many fans engaged in his storyline.

Lynyrd Skynyrd Soars Thanks To ‘Happy Gilmore 2'

More than two decades after it first hit theaters, Happy Gilmore is back, only the second installment in what has now become a franchise isn't on the big screen. Happy Gilmore 2 arrived on Netflix on July 25. The film quickly became a top 10 success on the platform, and the movie is so popular that even a few music syncs have helped a handful of classic rock acts surge on streaming sites. Lynyrd Skynyrd Scores a Streaming Surge Of all the musical acts featured in Happy Gilmore 2, the one that stands out thanks to an impressive streaming boost is Lynyrd Skynyrd. The band's 1973 cut 'Tuesday's Gone' returns in the new film, which some fans of the original may have expected, as it was featured in Happy Gilmore. The rock group's ballad jumped 44% in terms of total on-demand streams in the United States during the movie's opening weekend, according to Billboard. The track soared from 525,000 streams to 756,000 between July 25 and 28, according to numbers shared with the music magazine by Luminate. Lynyrd Skynyrd's Deep Cut Finds a New Audience Though it never charted upon its initial release, 'Tuesday's Gone' has become a fan favorite among those who love Lynyrd Skynyrd. Originally featured on the band's debut album Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd, the song stands apart from the outfit's better-known, uptempo tracks like 'Sweet Home Alabama' and 'What's Your Name?' Though the tune doesn't appear on any Billboard lists this frame, a growth of more than 40% on streaming outlets is impressive for a decades-old cut. Foreigner and Tom Petty Also Gain Ground Lynyrd Skynyrd might be leading the way, but the rockers aren't the only ones benefiting thanks to being included in Happy Gilmore 2. The Replacements' track 'Swingin' Party' experienced the biggest percentage gain, more than doubling its plays from 15,000 to 38,000 streams. Foreigner's 'Juke Box Hero' enjoyed an 18% bump in streaming during the same window, while Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' 'The Waiting' rose by 15%.

What was the 'Happy Gilmore 2' experience like for Nelly Korda, Charley Hull?

Charley Hull was born about a month after the original "Happy Gilmore" movie came out in 1996. Nelly Korda, who turned 27 on Monday, is two years younger than Hull. Both joined a host of golf stars – including fellow No. 1 Scottie Scheffler – in the comedy hit's sequel, which brings back Adam Sandler in the lead role. "Happy Gilmore 2" was released on Netflix July 25 and, according to Variety, 46.7 million viewers streamed the movie in just three days — making it the biggest U.S. opening weekend in Netflix history. Korda said she planned to watch the movie sometime this week while she's competing at the AIG Women's British Open in Wales. "It was so cool getting to meet Adam Sandler, getting to be part of that process, and actually seeing how difficult acting is from that point of view," said Korda. 'Happy Gilmore 2' footage of Travis Kelce shirtless and screaming is gold

The offseason has been a fun one for NFL star Travis Kelce. The three-time Super Bowl champion was able to travel, spend time with his pop star girlfriend Taylor Swift and had a guest role in Adam Sandler's long-awaited sequel to the iconic 1996 comedy Happy Gilmore. In Happy Gilmore 2, Kelce appears as a waiter at the golf club, helping take the orders from some of the most legendary golfers in the game. He works alongside a bus boy -- played by singer Bad Bunny -- and eventually fires him for a perceived slight. It's a small role, but he gets to come back later as Bad Bunny's character goes to his "happy place." In that scene, the Kansas City tight end is tied up to a pole wearing nothing but an apron and has honey slathered on him by Bad Bunny before a bear (or rather a man in a bear costume) comes into the picture. The gag is ridiculous and hilarious -- the hallmark of a Sandler movie -- and we got some fun behind-the-scenes footage of the moment this week. Happy Gilmore 2 is streaming on Netflix.
