The Insta-spot combines design and dinner in the African Lounge.
Fashion and food are coming together in Riyadh. Miu Miu has opened a pop-up in African Lounge in Bujairi Terrace. Running until 30 March, the event is open during Ramadan.
The Miu Miu pop-up aims to create a celebratory spirit, and combine conviviality and community. Guests are invited to enjoy a specially curated menu, and a dedicated dining experience. The venue is decked out in branded food, drinks and design. Look out for the bright neon sign, logos on cushions, napkins, and on top of desserts and drinks. In the lounge, we also spotted games, which guests are encouraged to play.
Natasha Sideris is a powerhouse in the food industry. She is the founder and CEO of Tashas Group. Her concepts include African Lounge, Avli by tashas, Bungalo34, Galaxy Bar, Flamingo Room by tashas, Le Parc by tashas, Perlage, NALA, Ouzeri and tashas.
Flamingo Room by tashas bought a touch of jungle chic to Riyadh. The restaurant can already be found in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and it recently opened in the capital. The venue showcases fun flavours from South Africa.
Natasha recently told FACT: 'We have exciting plans ahead. This year, we have openings in South Africa, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. By the end of the year, we will likely have 30 tashas locations, which includes one in Saudi Arabia, and five more in the Emirates. We will also be opening Avli by tashas in Bahrain and Le Parc by tashas in Cape Town'.

Tashas Group plans major regional expansion with 8 new locations

Restaurant group Tashas plans to expand across the UAE and beyond with eight new locations identified 2025, as the company shifts from its historically cautious growth strategy to a more aggressive expansion plan. The South African-founded hospitality group, which currently operates 15 restaurants in South Africa, six in the UAE, and one in London, will open its first location in Saudi Arabia this September, founder and CEO Natasha Sideris told Arabian Business. 'We've had very slow and steady growth, few people working in an office. Now we have an army. I think we're ready to get into another gear and speed up a little bit,' Sideris said during an interview at the group's Nala concept in Dubai's Al Serkal Avenue. The company plans to establish Tashas branded cafes in previously untapped Emirates markets including Ras Al Khaimah, Nad Al Sheba, Al Ain, and Sharjah. Additionally, the group will introduce 'Tashas al Lechino,' an Italian-inspired licensed concept to be called Harlequin, at The Point development in collaboration with Shamal. Outside the UAE, the expansion includes bringing its upscale beach dining concept Bungalow to Bahrain and Ras Al Khaimah, while South Africa will see two additional Tashas locations. 'We will probably end up with doing five or six [openings] this year,' Sideris clarified, noting that while eight locations are identified, the actual rollout may be more measured. The group is also developing an entirely new concept, Cafe Sophie, named after Sideris's late mother. 'It's a tribute to her,' she explained. 'She passed away when she was 62. She was absolutely gorgeous and had a lot of style and taste.' The first Cafe Sophie will open in Cape Town, with plans to bring the concept to Dubai afterward. The group's expansion comes amid increasing competition in Dubai's upscale casual dining sector, where the company has established a strong foothold with its flagship Tashas brand. 'Where the sweet spot is in the world, and particularly in Dubai, is exactly where Tashas plays. It's not too smart, it's not mainstream casual. It's elevated casual,' Sideris said of the company's market positioning. The privately-held company, owned by Sideris and her brother alongside a minority partner, has focused on organic growth since its founding in 2005. After buying back majority control from South African company Famous Brands during the COVID-19 pandemic, Tashas Group has maintained its emphasis on quality over rapid expansion. 'Our big focus is product, product, product,' Sideris said, explaining the company's quality control process. 'I've got a very big head office team that audits the stores, in the stores at least two, three times a month, checking on product, checking on quality, checking on the ingredients.' The company's expansion strategy diverges from the trend-chasing approach common in Dubai's competitive restaurant scene. 'Everyone wants to come with the next hit wonder, the next Dubai Chocolate or the next purple cappuccino,' she said. 'You can either take your brand on that route, or you keep to your roots and are more classic.' Tashas Group currently operates multiple brands including the flagship Tashas cafes, Flamingo Room, Avli, Bungalo34, and the more youthful Nala concept, with each new location requiring significant capital investment in custom interior design and kitchen facilities.

You can now pay for parking using your Salik account

Salik is offering ticketless parking to residents of Deira Enrichment Project… In the latest from a slew of road network and parking updates in the city, Salik has now introduced ticketless parking for residents and visitors of the Deira Enrichment Project. A new ticketless system implemented through Salik's partner firm Parkonic will allow some residents to enter and exit parking zones using their vehicle licence plates as digital tickets. No need for physical tickets or payment apps. Residents can have a yearly membership through Parkonic's app, costing Dhs5,000. Surprisingly, visitors can also have an annual membership, albeit a little pricier, for Dhs7,500, both of these prices excluding a five per cent value-added tax. Including VAT, an hourly parking costs Dh5 and Dh25 for overnight, including VAT across eleven districts. Parkonic, like Parkin, is one of the largest private parking operators in the UAE. Salik has collaborated with them to enhance parking and payment systems across the UAE by eliminating the need for apps and tickets and using Salik's e-wallet system. According to a report by Khaleej Times, the partnership is based on a five-year contract, during which the collaboration will result in the integration of Salik's e-Wallet into 107-plus locations under it's operation and any future locations it may operate in the UAE. Earlier this year, Salik introduced variable toll pricing. The new dynamic pricing applies for all days of the year, except Ramadan, which will have separate rates, and was implemented starting January 31, allowing motorists to travel toll free in certain passages of time in the day. Adjustments have been made according to peak and non-peak weekdays, the toll sits at Dhs6 during morning peak hours (6am to 10am) and evening peak hours (4pm to 8pm). During off-peak hours, between 10am and 4pm, and from 8pm to 1am, the toll is Dhs4. On Sundays, excluding public holidays, special occasions, or major events, the toll is Dhs4 throughout the day and free from 1am to 6am. @ Images: Getty > Sign up for FREE to get exclusive updates that you are interested in
